Finally this is over well. Nobody sad, a happy end for all.

Satoshi is save, Hinamizawa is safe, Rika passed June 1983, Takano also have a good end...

I'm pretty sad this is have to end...
Rei is next !!

Loved the series, first season had me quite confused (which I loved), but this season managed to tie it all together and leave no loose ends that I could find (which I loved even more). I'm excluding the ending part with presumably adult Rika when saying no loose ends. Guess I'll be waiting for Rei for the answer to that one.

Also about Hanyuu dodging the bullet... I re-watched the scene after reading several posts about it... Seems Takano just blatantly missed... it does a zoom out, but it's not like Hanyuu moved... I'll just assume Takano was a sucky shot/ nervous.

A world where there are no losers, except for that bus driver I guess. I couldn't really make meaning out of that final meeting between older looking Rika and younger Miyo, a final "Nipaa would have been great. The ending was fair, not that great, and the season as a whole did not have the swagger of the first season. But I was glad that questions and stuff were answered.

Well...After seeing the season final (i know i'm late :p) i can tell that i'm really disapointed.
The first season was kinda dark and full of mystery, i loved it.

Ok in this season everything is explained to you and stuff. This point is nice and i dont have to argue about it.
But seeing the rating of this season (above the first one) i was expecting something very mysterious that make you shit your pants :P Or at least something that sounds like the 1st season.
Thats not that at all. We just figure out how everything happen.
The ending reminded me of the goonies (which is awesome tho). Eveything ends happy, in a brand new world. I would have been more pleased to see some "dark" ending, or with some unexplained thing. Well, it didnt happen.
Anyway, if you managed to read my crappy english i guess you understood that this 2nd season was, for me, good, but not as good as the 1st since it had the potential to offer us some epic scenario but was just limited to a happy ending which doesnt reflect the tone of the serie.

Wow! Great series. Sorta glad no one died in the end. :D But at the same time it was unusual to see no one die... I am surprised and happy to hear that there is a 3rd season. Can't wait to watch it. ^^

Overall I gave this series a 8/10.

it's a shame what they did to higurashi...

the first season had so much potential, but they wasted it for this in most parts boring second season with a trash action ending that would have been more fitting to a schwarzenegger meets home alone movie...-.-

story which promised us much turned out to be not more than a pseudo-stephen king novel...

the only part of this second season i didn't care for was the repetitive arc where they kept trying to rescue Satoko from her bastard of an uncle. they kept complaining to the authorities over and over with more and more people. i was bored silly. that aside, this was very enjoyable and answers to all the "WTF?" moments from season 1 was much appreciated, lol.

interesting about Takano, did she have the Syndrome in all the arcs explaining her craziness or just in this final world? i'm curious as to whether she was already this ruthless even before she arrived in Hinamizawa or if the disease explains all

much better than the first season which was just a bunch of killing crazyness which i did enjoy but had they carried it on to season 2 that would of been boring as hell

i enjoyed the ending very much, they had a choice to go with a good happy ending or some sort of hell ending where everyone dies, they went with the first and executed it quite well

Haha that is just pure win xD
Though I found adult Rika to be quite scary. No moenesss at all =(

Overall I give this series 8/10
Quite different from the disturbing murders and crazyness from the first season, this was more like a "proper" story, one I liked though.

For good or bad in the end it ended happily for everyone, even though I think Miyo deserved to die perhaps it was better this way.
After all, the whole idea of this story and ending is that they created a world where everyone is happy and no ones to blame.

Though I wonder what's up with Rika turning up back in time and prevents Miyons parents from dying, ultimately leaving her with an happy childhood.
Does it mean none of the events we just saw took place or did she just mess up big time and opened up for another season perhaps?

Loved this season as much as the 1st one. The only part I hated was the arc where they gathered the whole town to protest at the child welfare agency. They could have just forced Satokos uncle out of town with that manpower.

Awesome conclusion to what has been an awesome two series.

Only thing i can think of that wasnt resolved was that arc in the first series, where Shion goes nuts and kills everyone.

Who stabbed Keichi in the hospital? Do we dismiss that as a 'delusion' because that seems to me to be a bit of a cop-out.

But yeah, REALLY enjpyed these, marathoned this entire series in 3 days I was that sucked in..

remember Keichii gave Mion the doll instead? That alter everything that could've happen.

"Mion cry to Shion for Keiichi being "stupid"
"Shion go berserk"
Rewatch if you forgot about that part.

as for the last Shion nail Keiichi part, it's halucination, everyone in Hinamizawa habe the syndrome, and Rika's dead, remember? nothing to contain their disease.
After all the crap he been through, it's easy to see how he halucinate that, i mean, he halucinate a permanent marker pen for a syringe and killed Rena and Mion in the first arc of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni.

Hard to belive that in a serie which the first season had someone dying at least once in each episode would end like that.

I liked pretty much the ending, but where was Rena?
I mean, she didn't get much attention on the ending. It felt somehow sad.
Well, i'm one of those Mion x Keiichi fans so i didn't really had any problems with that, but i still felt a tad sorry for her character. =P

I belive i'm free to belive that in the end there really was something between Keiichi and Mion right? I mean, there really had it, wasn't it?

Furude Rika
*Insert Kanji for Her Name*
*Insert Hiragana for her name*
Fu Ru De - Ri Ka <= Romanization
Fu Ru De Ri Ka <= Join the Name and Surname
Furuderika <= Put it togheter.
Frederica <= Convert it from japanese to a normal western name

Frederica Bernkastel <= Match with a Umineko character.
(Blue hair, similar personality, similar psudo-name, etc.)
Bernkastel is a Witch who can travel through time.
Therefore Rika probably is Bernkastel, who travelled through time after being released from the dimension that she was locked int, and saved Miyo from her screwy past.
Which somehow makes sense.

I just marathoned the last half of this season and I must say I'm positively surprised. Certainly I wasn't expecting anything after the mess that was the first season, but I found myself actually interested by this.
I'll have to give this either a 9 or a 10. Most likely 9.

Apparently everyone is happy with this kind of ending, but I am disappointed.

It was way cheesier than I expected and the season as a whole was worse than the first. The suspense was less, there was more cheesiness and "the power of friendship" talk, lame stuff like Satoko's traps (I won't get into detail, but everyone with half a brain will see that she just couldn't have made those by herself in so little time and the supposedly well trained mercenaries won't fall for them so easily... what's this? Alone at Home 6?) and the thriller was really on a lower level than the first series.

I am really surprised Kai is ranked higher than Higurashi... Only about a third of the episodes in this season were as interesting and tension building as the ones from the first season.

8/10, because the animation was far better.

Well I enjoeyd this ending, although I liked the first Season slightly better, I'm not disappointed with the second season. As long as you expect that its mostly a different genre and also the excitement is of a different kind than it was in season 1, you will see that it is very enjoyable in a different way. At least that is how it was for me. Looking forward to Rei, although I suppose it wont be directly linked to this "world", as it seems pretty finished to me.

When i finished the first season i was really wtf'ed -like everybody- and nearly dropped the series but the second season is giving very very -very- pleasing answers to your endless questions in your head.

I have never seen a season ending this happily. Everybody is alive, everybody is friendly, everybody is in Hinawizawa, everybody is happy... Hinamizawa, where every problem can be solved by killing a friend, became the happpiest place in the world. A great turn of events and it really was necessary.

PS: Have you seen those pics of Hinamizawa from Japan? It was far far beyond imagination I would REALLY like to pay a visit there. Furude Shrine is existing and I cannot see it ahhhh

PS2: Between the girls, my favorite is Mion. She is the most frank and intelligent girl among them.

Anyways, this 2 seasons must be watched together, otherwise it makes you really sick. Great great anime.

Cheers

This anime, too me, was a masterpiece. Everything fit so perfectly, even if sometimes things were confusing. I loved the new characters Akasaka and Hanyuu, they made this season such a wonderful watch. I liked getting Takanos back story, and not making her just another villain to hate, but someone we can actually feel bad for. I clapped my hands and smiled when I say that the calendar read July 1 :)

I also liked how they didn't forget to add pieces of the anime together, such as having a resolution to the Satoshi mystery. I think they ended it extremely well. I also love that season 1 was meant for the torture and horror, while Kai was meant for explanations and good mystery.

Also, I like how they ended Kai. To put it in better words, I loved the whole 'battle' from when Irie got into a car crash to everything that happened in the mountains. The booby tracks were awesome, and the random Hanyuu pretending to be a God on the radio was randomly hilarious. Takano having the syndrome was obvious, and I'm happy no one actually died this time around. Rika as a grown up was awesome. All in all, 10/10 for me.

Well. Much better animation than the first season~ : D
But seriously... Aliens 'n UFO's 'n shizz? =3=
Oh well, can't get enough of Shion~ (And Mion)
Neither is it possible to get enough of "nipaa~" : 3
Yakusamashi-hen.. Was actually... Pretty good. : > Way better than the first season's first arc. (Well, might be because there was lots of Shion~)
But. If the disaster happened in the dead of the night, why were everyone at the school? There shouldn't be any reason to be at school in the middle of the night, should it? >.>
Minagoroshi-hen explained that part. Okay, so Takano's a deceptive bitch. So, how will Rika deal with this newfound piece of knowledge then?
Oh right, there was a decent amount of Shion/Mion in this arc btw, I totally approve.
Matsuribayashi-hen... Enter, Hanyuu! Sup Hanyuu?
When I first saw Takano as a child though, I was like "Wait... Who's that?", then I recalled that the title for this first episode of the arc was named 「三四」, so that explained a bit.
Anyway, I do not approve of this attempt to make Takano (Miyo that is) look like some kind of "good" person. That just feels terribly misplaced, but it is a common concept after all, trying to get an antagonist to look less bad and all.
And too damn much flashbacking in this arc.
Didn't really get better with all of the Satoshi crap either. Terribly annoying when he freaked out as well.
Worst of all, too little Shion in this arc! D:
As for the ending... I'm at a loss for words. Takano didn't die. I am disappoint.
I almost forgot... Akasaka, fuck yeah!

Tl;dr the whole premise is stupid. I hate the fact that it's called a "mystery". A mystery, shouldn't include things like being reborn in a new world, re-living a certain time period, and gods.
Same goes for Umineko btw.
If the story would've been kept realistic, this would've been a whole damn bunch better.
Then again, Shion's been constantly awesome : D And Mion's not too bad either, so I can't say there weren't any redeeming parts at all. Akasaka was of course a huge pile of win as well.
Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I'll go and rage somewhere.
Protip: I don't really check the forums anymore, so if you want something, take it on my profile.

Look less bad? So,did you want something like:''Takano comes to Hinamizawa and randomly commits a genocide without a serios reason''?
Also, why shouldn't a mystery contain supernatural elements? It's a fictional world.Boogiepop Phantom explained all it's mysteries with the supernatural and no one complained. In Higurashi, the murders weren't explained using a supernatural element.Hanyuu was the only supernatural being. You can even consider her a quasi-meta-character.She is resposible just for Rika's revival. This is not another ordinary mystery with a predictable and lame conclusion.
It's too bad that the whole premise is stupid. You wasted too much time of your life with it.
