Okay, so this episode was really nice to watch. I was really kind of hoping that Sakuta wasn't going to end up falling for Shouko again, but we know by now that Sakuta is really in love with Mai. Oh, and can we think back to the scene with Sakuta and Mai when he was laying in the living room? When they said good night and he put his face in his pillow like a giddy girl. I felt that. That was so nice. Anyway the episode was great overall and I'm really looking forward to how Futaba is going to piece herself back together. We know that the only way she can do it, is by confessing to the hot boi Kunimi. . . . .oh and fuck his girlfriend. She's annoying as hell and she's a nosy bitch. Had to get that off my chest. Hopefully things take a turn and Futaba can get a chance with Kunimi cause his girlfriend needs some kind of cumuppins for being the worst anime character of Fall 2018.

FUTABA'S ARC!!!
So her adolescent syndrome is splitting into two slightly different personas.

Sakuta being Sakuta
So unconsciously perverted XD

Futaba looks really good with ponytail
Smart-sexy I agree.

Sometimes falling in love is random

Ponytail Futaba is kinky

Futaba, the one who Sakuta always consults for advices about the adolescent syndorme, is now the one who has the adolescent syndrome and Sakuta trying to help her.
I look forward to know more about Futaba and how her character develops after this arc. :)

So anyone that is not submissive is bad? Okay, I prefer to see a balanced relationship between male and female so I don't think mai is worst girl or people like her just because of her appearance

Amen to that. Sakuta and Mai are 100% on the same level and it's SO refreshing to see, esp. in anime. If 7 episodes have taught us anything about Sakuta, it's that he does what he wants, when he wants. He's not subservient to Mai at all, and he gives as good as he gets.

The night visit scene is a perfect example. When Mai chided him for talking about Futaba, ANY other protagonist would have immediately apologized profusely and focused on Mai instead. But Sakuta just keeps on talking about his concern for Futaba and even gets Mai to help him out. No groveling, no oops, just a "she's my friend and I'm concerned about her, deal with it" posture. It was great.

I think that's what we're going to learn thru this arc---that both Futabas are equally real.

You know there is this test for movies and series to see if something is worth something that says that you need more than one woman in a story (if it is a story about more than two people obviously) and those mutliple women will talk with each other without the main character. If that is the case something is usually way better and more interesting than stories without that happening.

This episode you had that exact moment. Not just did the female members of the show talk to each other without the main character present, but also the main character talked with another male character without the female members present. While it wasn't a perfect case for the rule because Kumini is still more of a token character (with potential to be more) it still showed that the rule still holds up and that it goes both ways (especially for harem shows).

Maybe something has escaped my attention, but how could it be that Futaba-1 seems to know about the young Makinohara - at 18:20 she reacts to her appearance simply with a "she does really exist" - while Azusagawa has spoken of his meeting with her only to Futaba-2?

Pretty sure Sakuta had spoke to Futaba about Shoko before all the events of the episode. He confides in her a lot.

There's two Futaba in this arc?? o_o" What???
When I saw that annoying peach haired girl I was like "here she goes again...", but then I was surprised by her finding! She sounds like some kind of detective to go that deep with her search. I'm wondering how this Futaba mystery will end.

Mai and Shouko are so alike it's almost scary! *-* Is she Mai's lost sister or something?

Right, but Futaba was familiar with Sakuta's backstory and Shoko's role. That's why when Sakuta tells Futaba-2 about Shoko's appearance, she says "That first crush of yours?" like she knows the story.

So when Futaba-1 says "She really does exist" over the breakfast table, I think it's just surprise at her appearance, not that Futaba-1 knows anything extra. In other words, I don't think Futaba's and Shoko's arcs are connected by anything more than their mutual experience of Adolescence Syndrome.

Yes, Futaba-1 is familiar with Shoko's backstory, but she hasn't heard about that the girl has reappeared again in Azusagawa's life much younger than she was in his story of their meeting at the seashore so it was a bit strange to me that she doesn't react to the fact that Shoko has a look of a seventh grader instead of a high school girl.

What this seems to indicate is that Futuba-1 somehow - even if just unconsciously - knows about things of which only Futuba-2 should have knowledge.

You're right; it was a bit strange, but...I'm still more weirded out by Shoko's random appearances at Sakuta's apartment... As a parent of an 11-year-old, I can't imagine my daughter coming to me and saying "Yeah dad, so I just met this random high school student and he's keeping this cat for me; can I go over to his apartment every day and see the cat and hang out for hours at a time?"

Except that I don't consider it even trying to be fantasy/detective/drama. Just because someone puts a few of these tags here on MAL and they are adding some stuff like that to not make it look like a generic harem ... it doesn't mean it actually is fantasy/detective or some of that stuff.

Would mean you just had to add 1 fantasy creature to a harem or whatever other genre ... to suddenly turn it fantasy and avoid it being a "harem" (or other stuff you don't want others to call it cause it sounds so bad).

it is not a harem tho

Well, this was a very solid start to this new arc, and once again I'm glad that the show is constantly making it clear that it's not a harem by keeping Mai in the picture as part of the plot as much as is feasible (I have a bad feeling about what she wants to talk about after her mother's phone call, but I'm sure they'll work it out). As for Futaba, she's been a solid secondary character up to this point, so I like that the show is now making her a main character for this arc. Her form of Adolescent Syndrome is already very interesting, but that reveal at the end certainly confuses things: which Futaba is running that "secret" account, or was it up before this happened (and presumably acted as one of a couple of triggers for it)? Also, how did Kunimi's girlfriend find it so easily? If she did, shouldn't Kunimi and the entire school be able to as well?

Have you...never been a middle/highschool kid before? You don’t exactly detail the specifics of what you’re going to be doing when you go out. You tell your parents you’re going to be hanging out with some friends and leave it at that. Your daughter most certainly won’t ask your permission the way you said it if that was in fact what she was doing lol...

I fucking called it! This is the moon and he let her go, at least it seems so.
The Kaguya Reference isnt just coincidence, It needs too have a meaning for the show.

Also, the scene from the Start of the Anime, and Episode 3 isnt equal, Im pretty sure, he got into the same Situation twise. Maybe the first Time was by the blue Girl?

Its also nice, how this Girl is treated. More like a Plotdevice not like a superimportant and super uninteresting Charakter.
Lets say, shes a big Mystery yet.

And the guy in Page 1 was right, the Pacing is top noch. I was never bored.

Understandable. Off course it would be better otherwise, but I dont think shes a bad Charakter because of this.

I wonder about this Girl, who shows up, every few Episodes.
Is she realy just a sidecharakter, ore some reflection of his Mind? His concernes and fears? Its a little overanalytic, but its weird how she shows up from fucking nowhere and somehow know about the vague Situation.

With great beauty comes a dark shadow. It seems that Futaba Alter is up to some shady business. I wonder, what is her endgame? Surely it cannot be merely a matter of self-expression?

This week's episode gave us several surprises
First Shoko reappears in the life of Sakuta, but this girl is smaller than the Shoko he knew, but while she visits Sakuta's house to see Hayate, he takes advantage to analyze the situation.
And the second surprise, it was my favorite, is that Futaba was affected by the syndrome of puberty, in her case there are now two Futabas, the quiet and serious Futaba and the other Futaba draws the attention of the boys with her new image. Apparently the Futaba 2 wants to do what the original Futaba does not dare to do, which is to attract the attention of Kunimi and unfortunately Futaba 2 is using very risky measures, what bitter this revelation is that Kunimi's girlfriend was the one who told Sakuta of this, I can not stand Kunimi's girlfriend. Listening to the reason why Futaba fell in love with Kunimi seemed very adorable and pure, goddammit Kunimi you get rid of your stupid girlfriend, Futaba is a thousand times better.
But this episode also gave us a lot of material from Sakuta X Mai, which were fun, except for the part where Sakuta fails the kiss, damn it Sakuta you ruined it.
The visit of Mai to Sakuta's work seemed reasonable, Mai surprised her boyfriend and he was very happy to see her, although the jokes and their accurate answers were not absent. The part where Mai answers the phone in Sakuta's house was my favorite, by god I kept laughing. Kaede also had her share in this episode, I laughed a lot when she asks her brother for Shoko and when she says that this is her biggest crisis as a younger sister, I died of how adorable she sounded.
The new animation of the ending I loved it, it exploits all the potential of Futaba and the part where she changes her hair style was very well animated, also the environment they chose was great, that effect in which the sea has a fluorescent color is perfect with the scientific side of Futaba, the best is her smile when she sees her two friends.
Apparently the reason for Futaba's puberty syndrome should be the oppressed feelings that she has towards Kunimi, the truth is that I'm a bit afraid of the next episode, because I do not want this Arc to end up like Tomoe's.

Ok i don't how to begin but i am enjoying the hell out of it this show. the pacing is fantastic, writing this while i'm listening to the ending.

Interesting for me about the show is how it puts emphazies of commom problems that we face when we are young and we don't know how to face them and that the only way to learn it is the Hard way. Either, we want to disappear or avoid problems.

I love this show really hype for the next episode.
