The Princess Principal Stage of Mission event held on Sunday has announced sequel movies for the original TV anime. The movie, in which the events will occur after final episode of the TV series, will be six parts in total and will premiere in Japanese theaters beginning next year. Produced by studio Actas and Studio 3Hz, Princess Principal aired last summer for a total of 12 episodes. Additionally, the series launched a puzzle game for Android and iOS developed by showgate titled Princess Principal: Game of Mission last August. Spy-centered premise, the story revolves around five girls enrolled in the prestigious Queens May Fair School in London doing activities involving disguise, infiltration, car chase, and more. The Blu-ray disc for the event will be released on November 22, which will include the announcement preview for the sequel. Announcement Source: Moca News Princess Principal 2 on MAL |

I was about to start the TV series sometime soon so it's a pretty good surprise. The anime turned out to be quite popular in Japan than I thought it was after all so I wouldn't have been surprised by a sequel but 6 movies is quite something. |

And for what? What prevents them from making a normal second season, and not to repeat for Strike the Blood? I'm glad that the series will continue, but I'm frustrated with this format. P.S The poster looks somewhat embarrassing, as if they wanted to draw the next yuri-ish Ange and the Princess, but got confused when they remembered about the other girls. |

I enjoyed the show immensely back in Summer ‘16, and hence I’m quite ecstatic to be seeing this news. Though, I’d be happier if it were to be a Season 2 rather than an unorthodox 6-part Sequel Movie but at least it’s a sequel and not recaps, so it’s better than nothing. I hope to see for more announcements regarding the dates and et cetera in the near future. I wonder what’s up lately with getting a flurry of sequels. I’m sure enjoying it, but I assume there’s some sort of reason behind it for sure. |

In particular, this year there will be 2-3 "real" yuri and BL show, which has not happened for several years. |

Six part sequel movie strikes me as a lot, especially if it's a standard 90 -120 minute movie. Feels more like an OVA to me, but if they are all actually movie length, it must of been popular in Japan at least. |

And if Code Geass of the same author can easily cope with this, then PriPri has more modest capabilities. |

Good news, I did enjoy the show last Summer and the sales were decent so this getting a continuation isn't a big surprise. It will probably have better visual quality too with the movie format. |

I hate to admit it, but I can see that happening now. That’s some interesting information you’ve got there too. I’m indeed seeing a lot more yuri and BL shows lately as well as Originals. I wonder if it really is leading up to the end of Japanese animations. |

Everyone salutes Bandai. Now they can sort those holes in the script. How nice. This work itself was very obscure, for it was done at a time when Bandai was about to buy Actas. Someone said that Sunrise is about to collapse, I think that's bullshit; Bandai just bought Actas, so explain me: how does a studio of a production company about to collapse buy another studio? I read the tweet from the president of Actas last year, in which he said that the collaboration with the 3hz studio would help the studio to assist them in finalizing Girls und Panzer. Seeing the 3hz studio work roster at the ANN I did not see any effective participation in the film, ie helping to cheer up. Presumably, 3hz when participating in the production of Princess Principal helped Bandai to buy the Minutes in secret. For me the series itself was made to cover up this fact, and not to actually 3hz aid in the production of Garupan. |

Amazing news really excited for it and it surely deserved it, although ye would have prefered a TV version but we will take a movie version aswell cuz in the end its better somethin then nothin. And from what we see lately it seems like making movies is worth it as in business wise probably gets them more money and exposure aswell. |

It is probably ~45 min per movie just like Girls & Panzer: Saishuushou Also, short movie don't take long to come to blu-ray most of the time. So maybe we have to wait just 3 or 4 months for blu-ray |

I'm not even sure where to begin. This is simply fantastic news and probably the best news in anime all year. Considering how slept upon the series was back in Summer 2017, I had always hoped but never legitimately anticipated a sequel series of any form, but man am I glad to have been wrong in my pessimism. I feel like the "movie" format is going to end up a better fit for what we might come to expect in terms of a continuation of the story. It's going to be exciting to see how the plot lines are resolved, since I do have to admit it as a fault of the first season that many questions were left unanswered. In particular, I hope Ange and Charlotte's relationship is delved into a bit, since that teaser in the final episode was absolutely punishing. There's probably no chance they're able to replace the current opening with a better one, so it'd be great (however unlikely) if they just reused it. Not even sure it's been confirmed that the same studio(s) will be producing it, but I hope so since the animation was excellent (for the most part, citing a few ballroom scenes as "meh" moments). Anyway, damn, I'm really looking forward to 2019 now. I need more of cute spies! |

The thing is, Actas was aquired by Bandai last year and Bandai is at the top of production comitee here. Otherwise it was expected. Both studios are busy with other projects and knowing Actas tendency not to finish TV-series on time, it was a logical decigion form the comitee. |
