THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- That Hedoro tease at the beginning though! OP includes Jirocho and Pirako, though not in the place where most people expected. Continuing right from the action from the last episode. That Jirocho/Gintoki teamwork though!! The way they took down Soutatsu is super hype! Not to mention that we got some epic and savage faces from the two of them!! OMG LMAO, the way Kurogoma got rejected in his flashback was ridiculous!! I love how Sorachi’s self-aware of the fact that he forces a flashback on everyone! But that ending was really touching with Otose and Tatsugoro though ;_; It seems like Earth’s forces have been able to take down their opponents. With Ougai and Soutatsu down, the Dakini and Shinra are in disarray. There’s also the Yato tribe, but they’re next cour content. But what really matters is that we got the greatest Gintama character to return… Hedoro!!! Madao may have not bloomed yet, but Hedoro’s flower sure did. Lol, it seems that Hedoro’s so OP that he beat Ougai in the past. HAH, Hedoro’s giving them more than just a bop on the head. But then again, we’re talking about the same person who scrapes off the skin when washing one’s back. If Hedoro came earlier, 11 episodes worth of content could’ve been done in 3 episodes, lol. I love how even Gintoki’s running away. Truly more frightening than Utsuro. We get some other characters too, like Gedoumaru and Ketsuno Ana. Which means that Seimei and Douman will join in too. I swear, they have one of the best OSTs from Gintama. But Gintoki’s done something that can change the tides of this battle, lol. Hedero minus the flower means some bad business. Even if they win the war, it’s clear that mankind will still perish XD Three chapters adapted (624-626). Also, Hedoro got the highest production values in this episode. As expected from Hedoro. Some static images in this episode, but they're all implemented better than episode 349. Still has some nice animation cuts though. Next week’s storyboarding/screenplay will be done by the same person again, and the episode director will be the same as episode 343’s. 5/5 |

Based on the preview and staff, it looked like a episode with great artwork but mostly still frames...is that true?(I'm hoping at least the first half is great with the animation...Sasaki plz) And was the episode delayed by a hour today? |

God, I wish they just tell us already if there is a break or not, the wait is killing me lol(but if there is a break then I think they'll stop on chapter 633 or 637...then 6-9 month break with adaptatinf the rest of the manga, but if it continues from this season then I think they'll stop at 668 or 669 then...a 3 month break...then the rest of the arc) |

Great episode again. Jirocho and Gintoki action was great. I laughed so much when Jirocho in the flashback said, why do we need a flashback for you? XD Jirochon is such a doting father. :3 Hedero was so awesome. I love how he such pummeled all those guys into the buildings. It was so cool. xD Gin-san running away along with everyone else was gold. "This final arc was nothing but the prologue for Jump's trademark power creep system. I've had it with this! I'm making the jump to Shonen Sunday!" This is why Gin-san is the best. XD XD Glad to see the Onmyouji's again, that comparison between Onymouji's and Con-men though. XD Anyway, the Liberation army retreated and now Kabuchiko will enjoy some momentary peace. :D |

My favorite comedy part of the manga finally got animated, or rather tons of still frames with little to no animation but I'll take it. Gin-san breaking the 4th wall yet again with his comments and I loved how scarier Gedomaru was in here comapred to the manga half face one, they even added Kaguya running with her eyes wide opened, and all of them including the enemies all running away together from those demons had me laughing crazy, this is why Gintama is the best! Hedoro's return was also great! that ED killed me, it wasnt much but having Gintoki (Sugita) go *uuuhnn....* after he pulled the flower had more comedy impact than I thought it would. |

After that flashback at the beginning I was expecting that Hedoro would make his entrance[s] it was really just a matter of time[/s [He was awesome. Jirocho and Gin kicked ass too. Former ones flashback gag was pretty lol. And I also liked the parts with Tatsugorou and Otose, pretty emotional. Good episode overall with a big victory. |

It's nice to see the return of so many old characters that haven't shown up in a long time. Hedoro proved himself to be a badass, and the end with Gintoki accidentally pulling the flower out of his head was funny. |

Animation/staff of this episode: - Script by Taku Kishimoto - (岸本卓): Same of last weeks - Storyboard by Hitomi Tsuruta - (鶴田眸):Tsuruta is a veteran animator of Gintama, your storyboard showed very good. - Directed by Youhei Shindou - (進藤陽平) - (341): Director of episode 341. He has not done much in Gintama yet, but your episodes were great. Respect Director. This episode has 8 Animation Directors, this number is bad. Usually, episodes with several ADs stay bad, but this episode has many high level veterans. With this, the episode became great. Animation was consistent and fight was very good, even not having a "sakuga". Youhei Sasaki participated again this week as Key Animation. Great work, BNP! |

That flashback rejection lmao Hedoro was actually a true beast after all even his comrades retreated lol Really missed the Ketsuno clan as well. When they summoned those illusion creatures from the depths of hell I died. xD Cannot imagine how Hedoro will react outside of severely bleeding now that Gintoki removed his flower. Only problem with the episode was that the way the Shinra died didn't feel like it had a lot of impact(especially compared to Episode 214 or the Manga version of this fight) I knew the animation wouldn't be as good as Episode 214, but you can still make impact and sound great without much animation |

Granted this isn't completely anime staff's fault, this is a flaw from Sorachi's side as well in terms of writing where he is lacking when it comes to mid-bosses (for ex Rakuyou's mid bosses) but anime makes it worse by not giving their moments the impact needed making those mid bosses feel like fodder as well.It wasn't bad just underwhelming.Hope Yato clan also doesn't get that treatment as well. |

They changed the OP AGAIN! The comedy was amazing this episode, along with the fight scenes. Seeing all these characters come back reminds me of the first time watching Gintama. Judging by the ending, Gintoki is going to be brutally murdered by Hedoro. XD |

this episode was amazing, had all the right amounts of comedy, call backs, and kick ass action. In addition to that visually this actually looked like an older episode of the show mainly due to the artstyle itself having far darker colors and more detailed drawings like the show used to have, i always kind of disliked how plasticy the show started to look recently so im hoping the show continues to look like this though i suspect its just because the events are taking place during the afternoon |

I forgot the name of the "ogre guy". So it's Hedoro. I've been thinking if he was forgotten, or something, since those creatures were there for quite a few episodes already, yet Hedoro just appeared in this episode. I have always liked this style in anime/manga, that everyone appears one after another, from the entire series to fight in the final arc. I have a hard time, though, remembering what exactly happened in the arcs some of them were in. I just hope they will be able to keep each of them somewhat relevant in the entire arc. It was ridiculous seeing how they made them(selves) run in agony from the battlefield. Definitely one of the most enjoyable episodes so far. I think most people think the same, looking at the votes (atm 54 - 5/5, 1 - 4/5. shame on you, whoever voted only 4/5!!!). So Hedoro has a flower parasite. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before, or if it's a new thing. He was confirmed to be (one of) the strongest warrior from his race, and apparently he still had that strength. The moment when Gintoki broke his flower, I bursted out in laughter. It seemed like they are about to have the toughest battle ever already. According to the preview, they still manage to fix that flower problem somehow, since they are alive and well. I'm looking forward to the next episodes. It's so rare, when the final arc feels so amazing in an anime. |

I almost laughed myself out of breath. I guess there are many ways to incite fear into enemies, some of which have an equally shattering effect of allies. Hedoro, for an example. It was hard to decide who had the upper hand during the resulting exceedingly hasty retreat. However, it was undeniably hilarious. |

Great episode though I'm a little sad they changed the choreography of the shinra fight somewhat. Jirocho fought them in midair in the manga, and he slammed ones head through the ceiling with his sheath, and that's when the leader stabbed through the shinras already defeated body to attack jirocho. In the anime he just kinda killed his own guy for no reason. Plus since it was in midair, it made sense that they landed on Gintoki after jirocho was dragged to the ground, but in the anime gin was just under there for no conceivable reason. Still the action itself looked really good, and the episode was 10/10 with it's comedy and pacing. So BNP did a great job overall |

In addition to that visually this actually looked like an older episode of the show mainly due to the artstyle itself having far darker colors and more detailed drawings like the show used to have, i always kind of disliked how plasticy the show started to look recently so im hoping the show continues to look like this though i suspect its just because the events are taking place during the afternoon Yeah usually when there is a color filter the artstyle is much better. I believe it looked "plasticy" and not as detailed so that it can be smoother, and focus more on the movement. Like imagine keeping the 2011 artstyle and doing 17 episodes straight serious arc(SA and FS since they're combined)...that would he a fucking nightmare to animate and keep consistent lol(like Courstan barely looked good...and there was a 1-2 month break before it aired and after it aired, and only 2 of the episodes in that arc had action, only 1 episode in Thorny had action, 4 Devas was the only longish one that had amazing action cobsistent...and even then the action sequences were like 2 minutes for episode 211, 213, and 214) Yoshiwara was the only previous long serious arc that had amazing animation(and imo it's the best arc for consistency)...But even that was the 4:3 no HD artstyle in the year 2009 lolol |

And farewell shinsengumi was 9 episodes long- so that's very impressive. It never really dipped all that low and it had some great highs. |

I mean farewell shinsengumi did have the slightly disappointing looking "utsuro vs everyone" battle (minus Utsuro vs Gintoki which is some of the best animation in the series). FS had several amazing looking episodes though, and the art particularly was crazy good most of the time. The boat fight looked pretty dang good, nobume vs sougo was great, hijikata vs sasaki was great, Utsuro VS Gin was great, and kondo+hijikata vs oboro was great. Plus the first episode of the arc looked like a movie and the last episode was close to that level. Still you may have a point about yoshiwara. Everything was fully animated almost, with the only real exception being parts of gin vs hosen I believe. And that's a hell of a feat. Especially with how good kagura's battle looked, and how consistent everything was, as you mentioned. |
