THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- A pretty solid action piece with a bit of comedy and doom near the end. Like everything in Short Peace, it would benefit from just a bit more content. |

Not sure what I should think about that one, I started like a western comedic military movie and ended up being....I HAVE NO IDEA... That one was pretty disappointing, but not as bad as Gambo. Anyway, 2/5. |

I saw this short today at the Downtown Independent, and I rather enjoyed it. Normally, CGI just looks plain bad in anime, but this movie actually looked really good with it. Though the ending was a bit weak, I'm a sucker for great animation so I give it 8/10. |

Pretty solid ending with some good CG for the most part. The ending was great to me. |

The backgroundshots where nice drawn, the cgi was sometimes quite nice, at least for anime ( so if you dont consider that there are whole movies like "Toy Story" or "Shrek" out there which look better (in terms of fluid animation) than this and are more than 10 years old you sure will find it nice looking) The faces look so freaking horrible, only because they wanted it to look similair to anime-.- The story is overflown with anime clichee shit, especially the ending is so freaking garbage, i couldnt even watch because of all the facepalms. |

Solid action, but I was getting disappointed midway that it was just going to be a random action piece like any other cgi film in theatres. The ending made it all the more worth it and good. eefrafa said: This just missed the mark with the tone of the original manga (in Kanojo no Omoide). The ending went for laughs where it should have felt frustrated at the powerlessness of one man. I dunno, it felt kinda artsy to me rather than trying to be serious. I barely took any of it seriously and it felt as though I was supposed to feel the way. If it had a simple serious end in resemblance to Planet of the Apes, wouldn't' be as memorable in my book since it's not as interesting. Planet of the Apes had more of a buildup with more screen-time, having that in this would almost feel out of place. |

That GUNK is one tough piece of hardware, and look, there's a naked man threatening a fully armed robot with a warhead! LOL I finally understood the episode title when the GUNK went to civilian servant mode. XD This was my favorite episode among the four, uhmm five if the opening is counted because of the powered armor, freakin' laser beams, drones, missiles and rocket spam, combined arms tactics, etc. ♥_♥ 8/10 Overall the series/compilation was 7/10 for me. |

This was great. Holy shit direction was 10/10 Great CG, the best by far of any other in the anthology. Actually some of the best CGI I have ever seen. The start was really strong. It felt like I was watching a hollywood film. It made great impact, and the music fitted perfectly. It was streched a bit more than it needed, especially towards the end but I can overlook that because, slow motion hollywood walk with backlight! Very enjoyable. Would definitely like to see more anime with this type and quality CG |

I enjoyed it quite a bit, my main issue I think was the subs I had were pretty bad, a lot of the moment's that are supposed to feel chummy or humorous just don't come across in any of the sets of subtitles I've found. Also I'm not sure if it's any more clear in Japanese what their plan is. As far as I can tell they're a bomb disposal team, and they're going to clear out an underground bomb, but they give off a sense that they could die doing it. That feels kinda unclear at the start though, since all the flash backs don't have any real danger, just goofiness, yet they're acting that it was amazing they got out of there alive :/ Anyways, started goofy, ended goofy, and the action was pretty darn awesome, although at times I lost track of where people were at and wasn't really sure what they had in their toolkit (1 guy has an EMP grenade, that sounds pretty useful, the others don't?). The 3D looked pretty great during the action, but early on there were some rough animation cycles, especially slow walking. In general 7/10, not sure if some of the rough patches are a problem with the direction or the translation of the subs. Anyone found decent subs out there? (tried the one that came with WiKi, FLiCKSiCK, and another that's unlabeled, all pretty bad) |

Final part! post apocalyptic research crew vs old neautrilization bot...its been done...but the last part with nude guy running at bot with nuke/missile head..>ROFL!! YES!!! End of Short PEace first was Intro, Tsukumo, then the one about the girl and boy, then the one about the bear, ten this sci fi one. Kinda thought so what with their time lengths iand all. All built up to naked missile man lol 8/10 |

Really liked the beginning, the snippets of their previous mission, the classic rock sounding track, the introduction to the whole cast of characters, it was really a solid introduction to this piece. After that, it was all pretty downhill from there. In fairness, the art-style was solid and the CGI was pretty good too, and being that I liked the opening track, it's the first time in Short Peace where I liked the OST at all. But personally, I found the action pretty boring and that was basically all there was. I also think it's kinda tonally off. In a way, I guess it fits a war styling that none of the deaths carried any kind of weight to them, outside of maybe Gimlet's, but it's also pretty emotionally barren because of that. But further more, the ending was a total clash of the events that just happened. We just witnessed the deaths of 90% of the cast, and it ends on a joke, with Marl's slow-mo naked run with a sappy song playing? Totally mood killer. I don't know, it contrast to everyone else I think this was probably the worst. Maybe because the extra time allotted to it and the strong introduction might I had generally higher expectations for it. I mean, at least Gambo's action has some brutality to it to make it a little more interesting. |

This was good but not as great as Gambo! But I understood the message at the end. But that naked scene at the end by Male was pathetic. Those GUNKs were something else, tough as nails and really destructive. I guess in the end there is no need for senseless violence, just enjoy whatever peace you have no matter how it came about. Overall this was a good project and I will miss it a lot. 7/10. |
