THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow that was pretty awesome. Not really sure how they happened to find an angel (perhaps due to the radiation?), but it was touching to see how much they went through to make sure she would live freely! Loved it! |

I couldn't find an English subbed version :( saw it from YouTube. I couldn't understand the lyrics, but the story was cute. I bet it would be another Ghibli hit if it were a full length movie. |

Somewhat confusing the way it jumos back and forth...and not merely back and forth because it gives up two different version of the chase scene; one apparent failure, and one where their car suddenly can fly. Also, do the policemen die from the radiation after releasing the winged girl? |

Average video, jumped around so much. They went back in time and stuff. It was just all over the place. The girl flying would have been better if they hadn't of done the same thing at the beginning. |

Take into consideration that this is not a linear narrative, it is completely subject to the lyrics and tone of the song. Above all, it's a music video. And the song says something like this: Animelyrics translation said: On your mark, every time. Then you start running. It's part of the chorus. Which basically talks about trying. Hence why, in this short, the characters keep trying till they achieve what they want, even if it breaks the linearity of the story or if it implies going back in time. |

You have to read the synopsis to understand the context of this thing, but I guess that's a given since it's literally 6:49 minutes long. On another note, why are people putting this on Watching, On-Hold, and who in hell decided to drop this? Seriously, impatience these days. |

It was fine, I cheered when the angel finally took flight, but it's a wonder how did the polices survived dem crashes and falls. |

Yeah made me cry too the first time around when I thought the police officers were going to die after falling from the bridge, all the while, urging the angel to fly. The song was great too, I really liked it! Idk, after reading All You Need is Kill yesterday, all I thought was that this was like a loop, and finally in the end, they were able to free the angel and she was able to take flight. This was a great music video. |

The video I had didn't provide English lyrics so it felt to me that Miyazaki only had a four minute story so he jumped around & repeated scenes to pad it out, definitely cool to learn that that's not the case. Although I agree with Turtle that it would've been better if they hadn't shown the girl flying before the end though to be honest, I can't say I'd have care that much regardless. The visuals, namely the animation, were really great here & there's a certain ambition that is clear to me, especially after reading the above but the song, outside of some great vocal moments (particularly the chorus) & the story attached to it really don't do much for me. I actually found myself pretty bored by the end but it definitely had some good aspects to it. 6/10. |

Didn't know that this existed, but it was nice. Simply wonderful, wasn't the biggest fan of the song, but the video made up for it. I like futuristic settings, a shame it was so short. |

The animation was high quality of course, considering it was ghibli, I liked the song, the setting was pretty cool, and the story was compelling. All in only 6 minutes! Pretty darn good. 8-9/10! :D |

Watched this for the anime watching challenge. If it wasn't for that I may have not been able to find such a lovely piece of work. The animation style is distinctly Ghibli and it would have been nice as a movie. 7/10 |

I'm watching this for the anime challenge too! I actually had no idea it existed either, so it was neat to stumble upon something Miyazaki did that I didn't recognize. That being said, I didn't really care for the song choice. I also wasn't a fan of the reuse of shots, even if it was part of the story. 4/10 |

I thought it was so beautiful, the song and the animation. You could tell the story's message without the dialogue. It's sweet and nostalgic yet somewhat sad. I wish it was a full length movie, I can watch it over and over again. |

Those police officers were real men for doing all that, opposing the authorities risking their live to do the right thing and save her. The music was nodding too with that retro style. I loved the car scene in the end where they release her to fly and that policeman kisses her feet( truly beautiful). 7/10. |

I Miyazaki-land, every character has ADHD. I hate Ghibli animation direction for characters, it's always the same, not a single thought put into consideration how to enhance the mood; never serve a functional purpose other than being as it's always been in every single movie. Background art and storyboarding on the other hand were really good on the other hand. |

I really liked the rescue operation. It was pretty wholesome overall. Ngl the art was beautiful. Love this kinda art-style The scene where the 2 guys release her and give her a boost to fly away is just oddly wholesome and carries "restored faith in humanity" vibes. |

I can't say why exactly, but it really touches me! It's somehow linked to my fundamentally embedded conception of what a real hero is and the presence of the angel girl gives me the liberating feeling of this world being more than what we think to know or perceive. |

a bit confusing and I didn't care for the audio mixing choice of making the sound effects louder than the music but I enjoyed it anyhow Not what I would have expected from Miyazaki, really felt more like an early Oshii Mamoru piece to me. |

I must have rewatched this more times than I can count - I still find it to be an endearing little story with a great song and classic cyberpunk visuals. Imagine a whole Ghibli film with such a setting! |
