A basement prison...

Tbh, this was the most serious episode yet. Literally trapped like a bird in a cage while Juugo listens to Musashi's background story about how he became the person he is today. Compared to some of the other episodes, I find it the shift of mood change a bit odd but acceptable I guess.

Poor Juugo though, RIP freedom.

Wow, intense and serious episode. I like the swift (from comedy to a more drama-like anime) though.
Now I feel sorry for Musashi haha.

Since nanbaka is getting a second season, I hope they don't rush things. It would be such a waste.

This is really turning to a serious anime. I like it.

Jyugo finding his ressolve, good to see. I like how he was grey the whole time throughout this episode and turned to color again at the end.

Hajime is a good man.

well... we are done with the serious bit, scar-dude's henchmen is the random yellow haired prison stalker confirmed.

glad he understood that other than his objective, he does love his friends. fire dude is pretty vapid though, he could of, i don't know, worked with juugo? well now he can't use his powers like he originally wanted so... good for him?

wooo, last flash back was annoying, but because it got so serious, this one is well welcomed <3

I really liked this episode! It's good to have a bit of a serious episode with comedy.. I dunno who was that blonde guy listening to them *suspicious*

I expected more seriousness coming, and it's happening. There wasn't any comedy in here at all. o.o

Nice episode, though I kind of wished to see what he was doing in those three days of suspension. Oh well. Anyways. to learn so much about Jyugo and Mushashi. And of course, Hajime is just so wonderful and Nico is just so cute.

Meh. It was a nice episode, but I found it boring as shit, honestly.

I honestly didn't care if Juugo never found a purpose at all, because honestly, there's nothing wrong with that.

But then it turns into some shit about "You can't run away from everything". Who the fuck says not? You're the fucking jailor and beat Juugo half to death, it's not your place to say what he can and can't run away from. And you don't even regret it and would do it again in a heartbeat (I had doubts about his "I might've overdone it" from last episode but his easy sliding into threats in this episode confirmed those doubts completely), so it's obvious that your worth as a human being yourself is completely lacking, let alone being able to tell someone else what they should do.

Asshole. Hajime seriously continues to drop in my books. Unfortunate that everything else goes his way.

But eh, whatever, I hope this shit moves on, this was just boring. And it's back to the status quo, so nothing changed anyway.

I'm kinda disappointed in how stretched this episode felt.

We learned a lot of exposition but is that really all we needed? It was mostly just Hajime, Mushashi and Jyugo talking. A good memory or two there but predictable.

Boy did this get deep. #634 also had an encounter with the scar guy. The scar guy used #634 as a lab rat for his flamethrower power and then discarded him after he achieved whatever he wanted to. So #634 wants those shackles and the blade power which comes with it so that he can kill the scar guy since that guy also supposedly has the blade power.

I didn't really get most of that rambling. The summary of all that was that Jyugo doesn't have any desires and the shackles gave him an objective but he wasn't interested in achieving that objective because it will then end with him not having anything again. But even after Hajime has this revealed, Jyugo stands and says that he'll make the scar guy pay. Wasn't it just determined that Jyugo isn't actually interested in finding the scar guy? I think I'm lost.

Anyway, it looks like we'll be returning to the comedy next week as we'll be seeing what happened while Hajime was suspended.

I can say I appreciate the variety this show provides. It tries to be different each episode, yet the tone shifts don't really feel "jarring" per say. Of course, I wish there could be another mainly comedic episode again, though from what I heard about the source material past this point I shouldn't really expect that.

Well Musashi surely look like a "pretty boy" when he was young.
So it's time for Hajime to give some words of advice to Jyuugo. Advice of become human being by having this one of seven sins, which is "greed".

I think this episode was great, parts of their past we're revealed and we got more info about them. Also, I've been wondering, why do you all like Hajime so much? Not that I hate him, but I don't like him either. So he's an ok character for me. And from what I see, most of you like him because he's really "badass"? Is that all? Some say that he's actually a good person and while that may be true I honestly just think he's a workaholic that prioritizes his job more and if taking care of the inmates is his job, he'll definitely do it. Whether by giving advice or something else.

Quite the verbose and intense episode we got here, Pretty decent episode overall.

A small bit of the past between the scar guy and Jyugo revealed.
We also get the story of how the scar-guy turned fire dude into who he was. For some reason I couldn't really feel all that sympathetic towards the fire dude, I guess his backstory was rushed through a bit so I couldn't really feel much for him.

Most of the episode dealt with Hajime questioning Jyugo's resolve and motives. He specifically calls Jyugo as a person without greed, which is also the part that I also find a bit contradicting. True that Jyugo specifically states that he hasn't really wanted anything, but he also says that everything he has done upto this point was purely out of self interest. Can't this in itself be considered a form of greed? Technically it means you are greedy for actions that only benefit you. I find this to be slightly contradictory or am I mistaken here?
I did like the fact that Jyugo finally found his resolve to be with his friends. :)

Show has gotten quite serious lately, wonder if it'll continue along this route or go back to the goofiness of the early episodes.

Hmm it was good and boring episode at same time.

What happened with Musashi was bad, yeah.

The blonde guy was listening to their conversation.

if episode 8 was serious, this episode 9 has more drama and seriousness also in it!
so Jyugo has no greed at all but Hajime helped him realize what's he's worth! And helped him stand-up again! of course this is also a plan of Hajime in order to investigate the "man with scar".
4/5.

well, this turned.... Deep.

also, something that's been both bothering and amusing me in the episodes of the anime is how colorful and sparkly everything has been,
but in that cell, Jyugo wasn't sparkling at all, and not colorful at all,

not very deep symbolism i guess, but i suppose the colors and the sparkles is some representation of how he view the world, or how he feels about it; the people and environments around him are like that since he likes them .w. ?

so, does that mean things aren't like how Jyugo see them at all......
I like to comment Episodes as i Watch them.

Really, just an entire episode of talking and slight backstory of some dude. I watched intensely, trying my best to really dive into it all but I just couldn’t get hooked to the story. The only think you lack is……”GREED”. Like give me a break.

Hajime still shows no remorse even when the Warden was the one who gave him the suspension and his entire prison guard folk feel strongly against what he did.

They were building it up sooooo much and really trying to get the feels into it but big swing and a miss.

I still don’t get it, they literally showed like a few scenes of these dudes trying to break out of the prison and now….nothing. Everyone is just living it up and they love it there. I just feel misled is all.

Hajime is supposed to be “interrogating” this highly restrained criminal, someone is eavesdropping during this and he’s like “who cares ladedadeda”. You can’t just show this guard who is willing to do it all for his job and then is just careless during moments like that.

Will continue to watch it cause wanna finish it but seriously disappointed in how things are going for this anime so far.

the whiplash from going to that intense and dramatic ending to the happy-go-lucky ED made me chuckle
it would have been cool if he'd made him a guard or something.
"desire" "goal" would have been better than "greed" which is an unhealthy excess of those
