Hm, felt more like another buildup episode.

The Department of Defense trying to do their work while Kei and the others are preparing for their big battles. Poor Izumi this episode :(

Things got really intense towards the end. Poor Tosaki got kidnapped. Wtf.

That American dude is an abusive douche. I feel bad for the Ajin chick.

That group of Ajin's that joined Satou's side was really convenient...

Next episode we get to see chapter 27 animated. I was certain they were just going to completely ignore it.

I felt really bad for Izumi at the end. She couldn't do her most important job.

She's an Ajin so dying is going to be difficult.

So Tosaki and Izumi were beaten by characters very similar to themselves.
Not a bad start into the anime original storyline.
Looks like they will be using Izumi's backstory from the manga in the next episode though.

Satou is really going through that list fast.

I do want Tosaki to be saved before he gets tortured/interrogated/whatever but at the same time, I think the experience of being a captive might make him more empathetic towards Ajins that gets tortured and experimented on by the government.

Entirely anime original episode, and it's okay because it's not like the manga's story is a masterpiece (so far), they can do better but they'll probably do worse lol.
I suspected that the 2 americans were Ajin but apparently it's only the woman.
Kuro-chan? I don't remember her calling it that from the manga.
Shinomura escaped, her flashback next episode is based on the manga.

The scale of what Satou is doing in the anime is certainly bigger than the manga, as if the 2 irrelevant dudes with Tanaka weren't enough, here's more nameless Ajin pawns.
This might be the direction the manga is heading as well and I hope it isn't, I don't want a retelling of the anime in the manga.

Oh no! Tosaki is in trouble! the others should save him!
LOL I'm rooting for him to be save even-though he's the villain on S1!
So the American investigators also have a girl whose an Ajin also! how convenient!
Wargames training for Kei! LOL Kou still useless and attacking straight front without any strategy!
5/5!

damn, a lot of unlucky shit for the anti-satou group.
before i get grief, yes i know Tosaki is also quite the unsympathetic dick but...
gah, this new asshole, if they (which i don't think they will) give him some bullshit for his inhumane actions I'm done. He criticizes Japan for not caring about death and then goes on to say he will repeatedly extreme torture his own henchmen?!

we got some nice mock mission training and.... scary

Is it just me or did anyone else notice the drastic change in character of the series in this episode. The later parts in this episode somehow felt disconnected from the earlier parts of the series as well as forced at some parts.
But maybe I'm just seeing things due to my prejudice of having read the manga.
Oh no, i don't have a signature! What am i gonna do?

Kei is getting better with his training. I didn't expect that American woman to be an Ajin. She beat up Izumi pretty bad. I hope she's okay. The guy that's with her is a douche. It sucks that Tosaki got kidnapped. Unlucky for him.

So the American investigators suspect Tosaki of killing Ogura for whatever reason but the only evidence they have is that Tosaki was outside when Ogura was killed. It isn't enough so Tosaki has been escaping them. They get fed up and take Tosaki home. And it turns out that the relationship between the big American guy and the woman is the same as that between Tosaki and Shimomura. Shimomura has failed in her job to protect Tosaki. What's more, the minister's appointment outside is tonight which will also be when Satou strikes.

They have two options: either go save Tosaki, or go for the mission to secure Satou and leaving Tosaki or leaving him to Shimomura. This is a pretty crucial moment and I bet Nagai Kei will be pissed if he learns that Tosaki has been kidnapped on the most crucial night ever. We'll be getting some Shimomura flashbacks next week. Tosaki being kidnapped was kinda unexpected.

Nice episode. Satou continuing to kill Government Officials.
Kei & Kou undergoing more training.

The Americans playing dirty.

Woah that American Lady is an Ajin as well.
Nice IBM battle.

Poor Izumi unable to save Tosaki.

Very good point...hopefully the experience of being kidnapped and trapped in a terrible position will make Tosaki more understanding of the Ajin's situations/objectives/motivations and allow him and Kei & co. to work better together.

That American dude is such a dick, abusing his partner like that. Hopefully he dies by the end of the season. It also sucks that Tosaki has been kidnapped, looks like he'll be dealing with some torture judging from the episode preview.

On the other hand, Kei has made some good progress with his training (lol at Nakano having to play Satou).

American's sure have a way of throwing a wrench into anime whenever they're introduced don't they? Hopefully these two won't end up being some annoying side distraction and actually figure into the fight against Satou. These two are just counter-intuitive versions of Tosaki and Shimomura but with one-sided physical verbal abuse between them.

Kei must be a lot more confident in his IBM control or something. I mean, bringing out in training is dangerous as fuck since it could rip the head off of any of the normies and that would be it.

Pretty OK start for the anime original content. I do hope that some of the awesome Satou moments in the later chapters of the manga make it over here in the anime at least. Particularly

Wow, what an amazing episode!!!
Satou is doing such a great job by killing all those guys, they can't do anything to escape from his Ajin, i wonder how is the prime minister planning to survive in that room.
I wish eps 6 was already out xD

Really good episode, Everything is gonna go down soon.

Liked the little training they showed with Kei.

Turns out the woman was an Ajin, Poor Izumi getting hurt but still remembering she has to protect Tosaki. :(
Don't like the American guy at all, He's a jerk, Even threatening his own partner. I wonder why she tolerates him.

They're probably gonna torture Tosaki, Wonder what Kei is gonna choose now. He'll either have to stop Satou or choose to save Tosaki.

To be fair, the Americans are just doing their jobs, but I really don't like either of them. The secretary isn't as bad as the man, but it disappoints me that she'd willingly try to help capture a fellow Ajin in Izumi when she knows full well what a captured Ajin has to endure (and what she too will endure if her partner is still alive by the end of this series).

This season is getting progressively worse... I used to be able to forgive it since I told myself "hey maybe the translation is just poor", but the story is really just taking the piss.

It's hard enough to buy that the Japanese government would refuse to admit to experimenting on Ajin, seeing how they're all being killed so easily, it's even worse to get me to believe Satou can keep getting away with it. They don't even explain how they die anymore, it's just "welp another one off the list". Hey governments are pretty incompetent but they're pretty good at protecting people. And they're telling me after 13 assassinations no one's managed to tail Satou? He's not invisible. And now his Ajin army has the materials to make a bomb and no one's noticed? I'm calling shenanigans.

And now the evil Americans just decide to kidnap Japanese nationals because "urr i hate filing paperwork". Like come on. And of course the big bad American is pantomime evil, and hits women because we need to show how evil he is.

I liked season 1 a lot because Nagai is a crazy fucker, you know he's not mentally stable and I wanted a protagonist who wasn't just a typical shonen "I fight for my friends!" self-insert Mary Sue. He's broken and we know it. But the anime isn't even focusing on him anymore, just stupid Hollywood theatrics that don't make any sense.

Am I the only one who roots for Satou? Satou is great dude and doing the right thing. Japanese govt should be shut down for human experimentation and whatever other stuff they are doing to Ajins. The only way to assert your position is through violence. Was always like that for humans and will always be. Satou, go for it, take over Japanese govt!
Young boys are idiots and never learn. Nothing good will come to them after stopping Satou. They will become guinea pigs again. I cant believe supposedly smart guy Nagano does not see that. I just wonder why 'smart' guys in anime are always so unbelievably stupid.

Do you actually think Satou's main goal is to fight for the right of Ajin's? He's not stupid enough to actually believe that Satou is going to make the world a better place.

You should hone your symbolism skills, since this was evident the second their pair walked in. They are like the same as Izumi and Tosaki, except Tosaki does not go extreme on Izumi, he just scares her when angry.
And the next thing you know is that the whole Ajin research facility knows about two more Ajins and that Tosaki was harboring one of them, because video footage. Unless the american guy actually shut them down to prevent them being seen kidnapping Tosaki.

Is it true that's what they were going for, or is that just a fan theory or something? Because if Ajin were a metaphor for comfort women this whole time, and I didn't realize it, then I'd have to admit that was pretty smart.

Wouldn't save every other problem I have with the show, but it'd make it more bearable.

i don't know about that... wether it's a metaphor of some particular phenomenon or just a creative work inspired by certain event... but one thing i'm sure about was the ever-denying, ever-disproving atitude of japanese government to the public unrest was precisely the same...
