Nice episode.

The snowy weather reminded me of one of the earlier ones (episode 8 I think) with the catchier song from the TV series. Oh, there is a little song in this episode mid-way :P

Sucks being stuck in a cave in the middle of that snowy weather though. Catchy songs this episode. I'm satisfied. Not very fun being in that cold weather though:

Yes seemed kind of strange that they where only talking about their feet while they have almost nothing over their legs apart from those short skirts.

It's was also ironic that they where talking about the Russians being more prepared then the Germans since the Russians lost the previous winter from the Fins and one of the reasons was their bad preparations of the weather.
It was so bad that some Russian devisions lost 10% of their men because of frostbite before they even reached Finland.

This episode also showed what a uniform and a little bit of kindness can do when they started a conversation with that girl.
It might have seemed strange but in reality things like that actually work you wont believe how for you can get by simply dressing up most people wont even doubt you.

Anyone have any idea what they were singing during the march? I want to hear a full version. (sung by them of course)

I actually wondered the same thing a long time ago so I asked a bunch of girls about it. They wore skirts and it was freaking snowing with -7 celsius temperature. They said their legs are not very prominent to freeze compared to their feet so it was okay to wear short skirts. And it was part of their school uniform too.

It's called "Yuki no Singun". There will be a full version of the song that will be included in the "Girls und Panzer ~Heartful Tank Disc~" that will be released on September 25 in Japan.

KV-2 chan was really cute.

It's nice to see Erwin get some lines as well.

So it comes with the series. Is the series confirmed at all to be getting a licensed release or will the song be sold separately? Where would you recommend I order the series from?

It's more of a fan disk. The fan disk will include footage from the "Heartful Tank Carnival" and other GuP events that happened in Japan, as well as behind-the-scenes footage with the cast and staff, a brand-new picture drama and other stuff.

All I know is Sentai Filmworks licensed this series and will be released on home video. But so far no update on that yet since I think they are waiting for Japan to finish releasing the BD/DVD before they start their home video release. I don't think they(Sentai) will release Girls und Panzer ~Heartful Tank Disc~.

Can't help you on that part since I haven't tried buying online. Maybe someone else here can help you on that.

This episode is so much more about history than other episodes, making it quite stand out among the specials. Besides the history about the various winter wars and (Japanese nationalist would be happy) the anecdotal story about Japanese and American soldiers joint march exercise in snowstorm, things that I learned include:

1. The full version of the snow march song from WWII era "Yuki no Shingun"
2. The movie "Hakkouda-san" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Hakkoda_%28film%29 ) which Erwin and Yukari reenacted the dialogues when they were in the hole they dug sitting out the snowstorm
3. All the tricky things with the KV tank.

It is good to see less well-known seiyuu (like Erwin and the Pravda girls) given more chance to do voice-acting too!
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Back when we first saw Pravda in snow, I thought they should be in ski pants. Nonna is called "Nonna of the Blizzard". Pravda makes a point of being prepared for cold. In this OVA, they even have greatcoats.

We saw Ōarai suffering because they weren't prepared, either for cold or a tough opponent.

Great episode. I like Yukari is prepared for the snow and I learned a lot as well.

Plus it sure was fun seeing them spying on KV-2 chan and they didn't get their
cover blown comapred when she infiltrated Saunder's high. I like how they had fun doing it as well.

I really enjoyed episode 5 in the specials thus far. I enjoyed the random trivia but also all the implents Yukari was using as well as Erwin getting all fired up while talking to each other about mutual interests in history. The climax was when Yukari nonchalantly asked the layout of the defenses. xD Was tooooo pro.

huh watching it so far and watched that there are men in the military i.e. the JSDF and the US forces during their military exercise. This makes things even more complicated for Ikuinen's theory unless the men serving in the JSDF are sterile likewise their American counter-parts. Damn if it wasn't for Yukari's quick thinking they would have been found out for sure. Of course, I don't think you can have POW's in Sensha-do, or would it be POS? Could they have detained them if they were caught or would they just be removed from the match? Most likely, they would have been forced to go back to their side and Katyusha and Nonna would have changed their formation, strategy, and tactics. Or not.

I like lolis.

I don't like them sexually.

It's hard to not like lolis, their cuteness pander to the same emotions that naturally makes us fathers.

But it's hard to get off to anything that doesn't have any adult women characteristics like large tits, ass, and thighs.

I felt like I was watching a GI Joe PSA and that the only thing missing was Yukari saying, "...and knowing is half the battle!".

Speaking of which, I can see how she so good in getting intel. ☺

Wow, some characterization for one of the side characters, and no fanservice! Now if only the other OVAs had been like this.

Also, you'd think they wouldn't be wearing such short skirts in that kind of weather.

Just Yukari and Erwin casually committing a war crime by disguising as enemy soldiers for intelligence gathering.

Don't ask me why that's a war crime cause I don't understand it either lol

Yukari and that blonde went on a recon mission. It's not indicated if this is before the battle or during the break in the battle (I suppose it was before the battle), but it doesn't matter. It's a fun episode.

I couldn't believe they were able to deceive the Pravda students that they were their sempai.

eta: I'm watching ep 9 right now. The recon mission took place whilst they're on a ceasefire.
