Rain said: jokes are supposed to be funny, right? well, that wasn't remotely funny at all; it only showed bad taste on your part. It may very well have been in bad taste, but whether or not something is funny is up to the individual. You can still laugh at something you know was said in bad taste. Rain said: OH MY GODZ, THE HOLOCAUST IS A FUCKING LIE AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! :) That doesn't have anything to do with what's been said so far. I don't care if you want to take issue with what he said, but that comment was pointless. I don't see what the original comment has to do with the holocaust either. Diaspora, potentially. Regardless, everyone needs to calm down. No one's done anything ban worthy. We've got one original statement from Groove that was most likely in bad taste, one on topic and one trolling post from Rain, and a lot of unnecessary chatter. This is just weak. Chousho did better than both of you combined in just one post. If you really want to continue this, beat on each other through PMs. |

What I did is a form of sarcastic comparison combined with some black humor. That is, comparing one thing to another in an offending manner combined with one or both of the things being a tragic occurrences or facts. Another example: This salad tastes just like that guy who blew his brains out all over the new schedule board in the office. Now what he did is just stupid. Besides, that's how racial jokes work, it's okay if I say it, but if he does, it's racism (not that I care even if it is). Now, relax, he doesn't need an attorney. It's not like I was seriously planning to report his message. As I said, I might have considered it, if I knew for sure that they would ban his IP, but since it will in best case only result in account ban it's not worth the trouble. 2. Also, if you're telling people not to look stupid you might want to spell "choked" and "you're" correctly. ;( Guilty as charged, chocked has a different definition. I'll give you that, but you can't compare my grammar mistakes to the stupidity of the guy above. Hajime Saitou said: Diaspora, potentially. It had nothing to do with diaspora either. We've got one original statement from Groove that was most likely in bad tast Since when Jew-jokes are bad taste? I guess I'm getting too old. You know, I agree with a lot of what you wrote here, but I think you're making one mistake. Your original statement was intended as joke. I took it as a joke, I wasn't offended at all. I'll say what I said to Rain, again. It's up to the individual to take something as funny, or in this case, a joke. Just because you intended your words as a joke doesn't mean that everyone will view them as such. You say that what you did was make a sarcastic comparison, and I agree, but that doesn't exclude it from being worse from what Rain said. I don't think what you said was worse though. Both of you were making sarcastic comments and they seem to have about equal potential to offend. I took both of them as sarcastic, personally. Groove said: It had nothing to do with diaspora either. Realistically, taking your original post in context, it really didn't. I was just thinking of something unimportant which I will keep to myself so that this doesn't get dragged out. Since when Jew-jokes are bad taste? I guess I'm getting too old. Not Jew jokes. Simply making a joke about Christ being crucified is guaranteed to generate a shitstorm. I personally don't care, but I know I've seen people get offended at far less than what you said, concerning that particular event. Since it's such a touchy subject, I think it's in bad taste to simply joke about it, regardless of the content of the joke. Oh, I'm terribly sorry for letting stupid people know what they are, and I'm saying it as one that never attacks people on forums (not when they attack me first anyway). Just because you intended your words as a joke doesn't mean that everyone will view them as such. While I certainly understand what you're saying, only someone stupid could take my remark seriously. I have a lot of both Jewish and Christian religious friends, and if I say something like; "Leave me alone, go make matzo from the blood of Christian virgins or something" or "Careful, I have bacon in that sandwich", it's clear that they do not get offended. Only someone stupid would assume that I intend to hurt my friends with those remarks. What's wrong with that?", and while it's clear that I didn't get offended, more over I didn't even care, it just looked stupid. Realistically, taking your original post in context, it really didn't. And that was exactly my intend in the first post. To show that I got "an infraction" with a totally unrelated comment. It's not the point of that I got infraction, it's based on what paragraph it was made. If he said something like "mocking religion" or "black humor", I'd had no problem with that whatsoever. Chousho didn't make any mistakes in his post, you both have at least one. I'm just keeping score. :P It was regarding Rain not Chousho, even though he jumped to save Rain like that mother who lifted a truck to save her child. |

Groove said: While I certainly understand what you're saying, only someone stupid could take my remark seriously. I wouldn't necessarily say stupid, but I know what you mean. It was obviously intended as a joke, but like I said last time, the joke could have been much more innocent and some people still would have been offended by it. The subject of the joke was more a problem than the delivery, but I'm not trying to say that the joke was innocent either. "Careful, I have bacon in that sandwich" I lol'd. I was being sarcastic, he just shot it in the air aka "I'm clever" or "You did it, so did I. What's wrong with that?", and while it's clear that I didn't get offended, more over I didn't even care, it just looked stupid. Rain's comment definitely came out of nowhere, but I already said what I thought about it. The point I was trying to make with what you quoted there was that whether it was "worse" or not is independent of why it was said in the first place. This takes us back to it just being a joke. You and I may see it that way but I can still see how someone might be offended by it. By the way, Rain is female. I just thought I'd mention that since you keep calling Rain "he." And that was exactly my intend in the first post. To show that I got "an infraction" with a totally unrelated comment. It's not the point of that I got infraction, it's based on what paragraph it was made. If he said something like "mocking religion" or "black humor", I'd had no problem with that whatsoever. Ok then. Other than that, there is no reason whatsoever for me not to post here. P.S. don't you want to know which moderator gave you that infraction? so you can think that moderator's "stupid," too? I will reply for this one thing however, because it is important. While I do know the name of the mod, I did not write it on purpose. It was not my intention to ridicule any mod whatsoever. My intention was only to bring entertainment, that's it. I PM'ed the said mod a few minutes after the infraction. Explaining him exactly why what he said makes no sense (read: bullshit), and I pretty sure he understood it and did not get offended in anyway. Stop judging people by your shoes, if you're stupid, that doesn't mean that all people are. Some people are more then capable of realizing their mistakes without being childish about it. |

Other than that, there is no reason whatsoever for me not to post here. So that this doesn't get dragged out. However, if you're going to respond like how you did, then that is fine. I don't care if the conversation continues, but I'd like it be made up of direct responses to quotes in the thread, with as little mud slinging as possible. At this point I can't see what else there is to say, unless new topics keep getting brought up in an attempt to sidestep/ignore what has already been said, and that's what I wanted to avoid. Even if she brings up something new, if you don't respond to it, this will end, and that's what I wanted. Rain wanted to say that she thought your joke wasn't funny, and she did. She also wanted to say that you deserved your infraction, and she did. You wanted to say that you thought the infraction was given for the wrong reason, and you did. The original purpose of this argument has been satisfied as far as I can tell. That doesn't mean the thread can't go on for other purposes though, so if anyone has anything to add then go for it...even though threads seem to temporarily stop while an argument is going on. |
