Enjoyable episode. It would be awesome if something like that liquid really existed like that ^^.
I wonder if this was the last time we'll hear from Piker, he didn't necessarily die in the end..
I probably regret this post by now.

This show is a great classic in the early 1970s. As for this episode, everything is nothing but cool from the opening to the ending; one of the best episodes of the first season. Only 4 characters appear and their attributes are depicted well; the shrewd protagonist, quick shot, cunning fox and a formidable opponent. The ennui mood is peculiar to the early stage.

This series is so unrealistic, it hurts.

But this episode was enjoyable as hell. I really liked Pycal as an opponent. 4/5

I'm surprised at how uncensored things were in the 70's :o

Nice episode with the emo magician.

An apparently simple story about Lupin facing an opponent with a lot of tricks up his sleeve and eventually outsmarting him is infused with a strange melancholy at almost every turn.

I think it'd be more typical of Fujiko's character to merely be trying to manipulate Pycal to get his secret formula but instead she's apparently actually in love with him. Lupin's lethal victory comes off as sad rather than triumphant, and after a serviceable joke to end the episode, Lupin and Jigen lay down in a meadow to contemplate the sky.

It's weird, but I really liked it.

Pycal was pretty badass taking all those shots like a champ. It's crazy to think that Fujiko might have actually been in love with him. She has yet to show any feelings for Lupin, but it is early in the series for that to even happen.

About Pycal

All in all, pretty enjoyable episode. It's good to see Lupin be dumbfounded every once in a while though in the end he came out on top.

This episode was a lot better than the first, probably because I'm getting used to the way the story is set out and the animation style. I guessed the trick behind the three films and I just knew that Pycal would end up going over the falls.

I think this is a series I'll stick with but as I mentioned with the way the story is set out, it does take some getting used to as the scenes jump about in a sort of 'blink and you'll miss it' style, however you can't say it lags like modern day anime.

Yeah throw realism out the window, after that you really start enjoying the show. I want a flamethrower finger.

This one was kinda weird. Fun I guess, but liked the first a lot more. That was just plain OTT not super unrealistic...

They never did explain how he's bulletproof did they?

I really like the almost "Bond-esque" feel of the show. It's a very straightforward pulp action show with some pretty straightforward characters too. At the same time those characters are easily iconic and lovable but also seem to have a few more layers to them as well. Very enjoyable so far.

That underwater sequence was trippy! It was interesting to generally see what was happening, but man... I did not follow it all the way through.

This show is gonna need to grow on me - I find myself disinterested for a majority of the episode, and this is my first time watching the show since I watched episode 1 back in November of 2015 lol. That said, they did grab my attention once they started solving the mystery. I'm mostly watching this series so I'll have some context for when I watch the spinoff movie with Miyazaki's directional debut.

The episode was quite interesting, the first time I saw him as a child was even more intriguing, given my naivety. However, as usual, the narrative remains of the incongruity in the logical thread, but what can one want from such an old soul? Also I can forgive these flaws given the formidable opening that has this series, I mean the Italian one.

It's only the second episode, but we already got a glimpse of Jigen's godlike marksmanship. Nice. xD

Well, that Pycal was a fearsome foe for sure, until Lupin figured what was his "source of power". I loved that he only figured the last, and most important secret after hitting his head when he fell. Also that: "What? Run way? Me? Let's do it" part was gold. I didn't remember that he didn't like octopuses though. lol Now that song that Fujiko sang while taking a shower in the beginning, which also played in the end, was kind of nice. I wonder if there is a complete version of it...

Lupin is enjoyable autism. The "figuring out" the high-density glass as source of levitation was hilarious. Yasuo's animation is nice to watch every time.

It doesn't explain how the heck the guy was flying there, since they literally drove for a while, and suddenly he was flying there. Still, cool, mysteries "unveiled."

A magician huh.
Lupin seems to have quite the wit and knows when to retreat.
But he just won't give Fujiko up.
I wish I still had a fresh chemistry knowledge to sort out that formula, and see if it's just gibberish.

I'm glad Pycal didn't really have psychic powers, but the "scientific" justification for his abilities was tacky.

Lupin on fire looked pretty cool.

Magic dude's got this emo hair. Why didn't he just jump instead of climbing down that rope while on fire? lol

The art really catches my eye for a lot of reasons. The long legs, the big chins, the goofy smiles, the funky outfits. Yeah, like all that a lot knowing it's going to be consistent throughout the series.

Anyway, Jigen is my fave.

Here comes a new enemy for the protagonist, the narrative is really intriguing for those who have never seen this episode, especially for the mystery that surrounds the enemy with a somewhat odd name. Episode that makes you discover the characters a little better, for the rest the narration lets itself be watched with pleasure, given the sympathy of the characters.

I like it as well along the first dark episodes.I swear it will be my fave part out of the 6 existing now:D OK I haven't seen any ep from Part 3 yet but still. This season 's Oosumi episodes are just my type. They give new exerience about the franchise and after those too goofy Lupin stuff it is enjoyable to see something like that

The guns and cars in this show are so detailed. I also love the specific choices of cars they included, especially the three wheel ones. I assume the mangaka used these cars in the original just because of their cool unusual designs.
