This series will never not piss me off. It's just... It's so demeaning, sexist, and just gross and young girls are watching this shit.

It's that one series I watch every week to rage at. And it really bothers me that so many girls 'otp' the main pair. Sorry to anyone who likes this series but I see girls who on one hand hate abusive pairings in other shows love this pairing and I can't understand WHY. I see the excuse 'well he's nicer to her later on!" I also see girls say "AWW I WANT A ROMANCE LIKE THIS"

Someone please, seriously, explain this logic to me. Because I cannot comprehend this.
Similar to this, what I don't understand is why Kyouya is so hated, yet his bitchy female equivalents from other animes are so loved, when they're just as bad if not worse due to the physical abuse they give the male MCs. Kyouya deserves the negativity he gets due to his behaviour, but it shouldn't be any more acceptable when a girl behaves the same way.

Some of you believe not only yourselves but someone else also should act along with your professed way of acting because, for you, it is not your personal faith but a universal rule.
It is rather natural for you not to think it may be just an imagination, a prejudice, or just a stated principle especially when it is very important to you. I don't complain about it. You can say "that is what it should be..." anytime you believe it.

By the way, I'm sure Kyoya and Erika keep acting their roles, a sadist and a masochist because that is comfortable for both of them. But, they already know that she can dump him whenever she makes the decision and he is mentally depending on her. There are many girls around him he doesn't trust and he has to act a nice person to protect himself no matter how he feels it annoying; there is only one girl whom he doesn't have to hide his true self and feels relaxed with. He couldn't pretend to be as nice to girls as he used to be after he lost her.
The rule of the game between them has changed completely before they knew it. That's why she could say to him, "I'll let you be my real boyfriend."
Surely, Kyoya and Erika are still an S and an M. One is a proud and beautiful Slave who cannot find comfort in his own self-confidence and the other is his female owner, namely the Mistress, who gives him it dotingly.

If you are insinuating that I enjoy garbage like Zero no Tsukimia and other crap with overly tsundere main heroines, you would be quite wrong. I despise harems (not reverse harems, though many of those like Diabolic Lovers are also garbage and gross) and I hate ALL abusive characters.

@htsuji Except the pairing you described isn't Kyouka and Erika. Erika frequently talks about how upset she is by Kyouka's actions, tries to leave him twice, and both times he says one tiny nice thing that doesn't even close to make up for all the abusive shit he's said she forgives him and falls in love with him all over again.

You have to remember this is being marketed at teenage girls. This is a message to teenage girls AND BOYS. Do you understand how unhealthy this is? What kind of ideas this crap is giving young people?

This is not a sadist and masochist relationship. This is a classic abusive manipulative relationship, this is seriously a textbook case it's so disturbing. And it's portrayed as a comedy.

Don't worry I wasn't implying that, It's just that your comment on why girls would hate abusive pairings in other shows and yet love this pairing, reminded me of how people can hate on Kyouya and yet love his female equivalents.

This is a story of a game of love. She was tricked many times and decided to use the final weapon this time not to win the game but to end it. And then, he surrendered.
He didn't admit it but Kyoya's actual feelings were as follows:

So, you are watching this show not because you enjoy it but because you are a self-designated inspector to decide if each show is good or bad for teenagers so as to instruct them what is they should or should not watch, aren't you?
I usually don't care whether a certain show is good or bad for education. I'm nothing but a common person in the audience and don't like to waste my time to inspect a show that I hate. I just drop it. I even don't spare time for posting a negative comment. As for the BOYS, they don't believe they can manipulate a girl as well as Kyoya. In addition to that, if some stupid boy tried it, then he would be just dumped.

I have a feeling now you hate not only the show but also the young boys and girls who love it. That is okay. It is, however, impossible for you to educate those whom you hate. All you can do is a kind of threat or attack, which cannot be a good guide or any other educationally-effective actions.
Ironically, it seems to me your act is one of the typical ways when abusive people try to manipulate someone who doesn't agree with them.

By the way, the reason I love the show from the view point of Erika (I'm not a teenage girl, though) is chiefly because my personality has a mixture of Erika and Kyoya's imperfectness.

I would be really happy if I found a master much superior to me and would willingly become a dog for him or her. But, the truth is cruel. My psychiatrist used to say there is no such an ideal person for me to dedicate my life to in the real world. *sigh*
Since no one is perfect, I accepted it reluctantly. But even the more painful thing to me is that I met many people who would like to be my dog I had to take care of, which makes me to feel considerable sympathy for Kyoya. No kidding.

Because a person like that in the real world would take things too far. You can have fantasies all you want, but in reality that is an abusive relationship. You have control over a fantasy, you do not have control over reality.

I am sad to hear that you feel that way, I do not know what past relationships, if any, you have had, or what in your childhood could have lead to this. I don't want to say you need to change your standards, people cannot change overnight, but perhaps if you are just inexperienced in relationships you just need to experience a few. If you have experienced relationships, however, and this is what you want, then I don't know what to say. As someone who is engaged to my boyfriend of 6 years, and will probably be getting married in a year or so, I can't understand that kind of logic. He and I are equals in every way- Even height! Neither one of us is the 'dominant' or 'wears the pants'. We are both completely equal in every sense of the world. Not that your point of view is invalid, but rather I am simply saying that I am very very different so it's hard for me to comprehend.

If this show actually resonates with you on a personal level, then that's different, and I can sympathize more with why you in particular would have an attachment to this show. However it concerns me that young women who I mentor, who hate abusive pairings such as, for example, Korra x Mako from Avatar or Sakura x Sasuke from Naruto (I am not trying to start arguments over these ships just laying out some background info), somehow love this pairing in this show. And I can't understand why. These are the same girls who complain about misogyny, the sexism, make 'not all men' jabs, etc.

And, may I also add, that just because the show DOES resonate with you, that does not mean it's not sexist, misogynistic, or just plain offensive. I do understand that you have a different sort of attachment to it than most, but overall the show is still VERY problematic for the majority.

On that note though, I'd like to suggest Honey x Honey drops to you if you want more of these manga. I happened to stumble upon it a while back. There's not much of an anime, just an OVA, but there is a manga. It may be up your alley, though it's far more abusive than even Wolf Girl.

It's really only problematic for people who can't tell the difference between fiction and reality, and in that case every single type of fiction out there is potentially problematic.

The exact same narrow-minded logic is applied to FPS, harem shows/fanservice, loli characters, or whatever else is considered offensive these days. I can't particularly stand any of the things I just mentioned, but I don't go around telling people they're wrong for liking them just because I personally don't understand the appeal.

FPS don't promote going out there and killing everyone, shows with loli characters don't glorify pedophilia and Ookami Shoujo isn't meant to inspire guys to treat girls like crap. All it does is provide entertainment and cater to a target audience that likes fiction involving abusive relationships for whatever reason. It's not some deep-rooted psychological problem. It's a fantasy. Just that.

I, and a lot of people I know, grew up watching anime and Western cartoons, plenty of which were clearly targeted at more mature audiences back then - and not once did I fail to remember that fiction can and in many cases should absolutely not be applied to reality. Assuming that (young) people reading/watching shows such as this one simply lack the common sense to understand it's not the way it should be is just sad.

Generally speaking, if you feel you are in need of referring to a matter of education, political-correctness or public benefit in order to justify your opinion, that is an emergency alert indicating there is something completely wrong on your mind.
I don't like to keep this fruitless flame on. Most teenagers and even little kids can tell the difference between real and fiction. If they cannot, then we have to worry about the subject "teenagers cannot tell if it is real or fictional" firstly, which is far more important issue than "if a certain anime is good or bad for them." Since the former subject is more generic and good teachers can induce a good lesson from a bad or stupid story as long as the students are bright enough to understand it is just a fiction (*1), the priority between them is obvious. It is also an essential condition from which the difference between education and instruction comes (*2).
And if that is the case, the newly introduced subject is too important and serious to fit this forum anymore. I strongly recommend that those who believe "teenagers cannot tell the difference" should go somewhere else to deal with it. Also, if they are working for somewhere concerning education, psychotherapy or such, they must choose more suitable position in a different industry before they cause a fatal and/or critical accident, for they are unqualified. At least, they should have taken some basic training classes before they started to work. I don't care if they are damaged but I do care if their students get damaged because of them.

(*1) For instance, you can make a general conclusion from this episode: "Don't let things be ambiguous when you find the answer. It can be a wrong choice but you should decline the offer clearly if you know you won't accept it."
But if it were a real incident, I would advise Erika that she should accept Kusakabe already and keep herself away from Kyoya because it is a safer option to avoid some foreseeable danger of domestic violence or stalking.

(*2) The students being unable to comprehend that something is just a fiction means they would take anything literally. You can instruct them in detail by getting them to memorize given instructions if you can pay enough attention to them, but you cannot educate them with the assumption that they can imagine, suppose and hypothesize something related to what they are learning. Then, you must set their goals on such a condition significantly lower than they could have reached.

Now I have written all I can think of. I don't want to repeat this subject again.
Anyway, as a watcher of a love fantasy, I'm happy to confirm they finally made pair-shaped :-)

Poor Kusakabe, he was just... too sweet. A bit like when you put too much sugar into something, it might lose its flavor. Well, Kusakabe is a bit like that. He's so sweet that he make romance lose its interest. Not that a romance with someone sweet is impossible, it's just that Kusakabe is on another level. The kind of level where he will accept everything that will happen, only because he's a good guy. To add to that, he seem to pity himself a lot, so that tend to push off people. Anyway, I think he was an interest representation of people having some social problems at highschool.

Kyoya is such a tsundere, gosh! ''Well, in general society, they'd usually call it love. Right?''
Damn, bro, just say it for fuck sake! Well, no, it would kinda break his character, but he's such a moody character... Oh well, time may change him.

Takeru is at it again. If he wasn't there, I think Erika would have suicided herself by now.

I'm glad with the devellopement Erika had. Even if she returned toward Kyoya, again, I think that she matured a lot. It take a lot of courage to admit you lied during all that time to your ''friends''. The fear of being judged, the fear of being the center of rumors. I'm kind of impressed by that. The other thing was that she was a lot more affirmative in this episode. She just didn't crack under Kyoya pressure and manipulation. She was able to stand against him and not look ridiculous.

Anyway, I think it was a good episode. Let's see how far their abusive relationship will lead them. Seriously, I hope Kyoya can solve his manipulative behaviors of him, he can be such a horrible human bean being.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? That came way sooner than expected. "Real" relationship after just 7 episodes? That's impossible. What are they going to show the next 5 episodes?

Sure this isn't an usual anime but still usually that point is the season final. Even with that story they can't fill so many episodes with just Kyouya changing the way he treats Erika.

At least Kusakabe wasn't hurt that much. He is too nice for this anime.

I guess it should be a good thing that Erika's romance with Kyouya is developing into something more but I'm so suspicious of it all.Kyouya's so contrary.First he makes it seem as if love is such a bother and therefore he's not interested in such things and by extension,Erika. He even implied that Erika was someone he was passing time with and her presence/absence wouldn't have mattered to him.Now all of a sudden he's confessing romantic sentiments??? Wasn't he the one that said he'd never do that?.So I expect the other shoe to drop some time in the future.
Even if Kyouya's confession is true,I can't imagine he'll be nicer to her anyways so it'll pretty much end up with Erika getting hurt again.Oh well, she signed up for it so I can't really say I sympathize.

Kurasabe = F R I E N D Z O N E D

Poor him. He's such a nice guy. But finally! Kyouya-kun got Erika back. When he kissed her I almost fainted, and the moment she kissed him back I was like... OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH. <3

Erika is the pure definition of being a masochist, while Kyouya, on the other hand, is a tsundere dude while being way too sadistic. Yet I still ship them and love seeing them together. I'm wondering if there's a couple like that in real life...

Kusakabe is cute but in an annoying way.
This episode was good, and I liked the ending, omg I'm so in love with Kyouya.

Yeah, Kusakabe needs a better girl than Erika. He's such a sweetie pie :} She don't deserve him.

Poor Kusakabe..
I get the feeling he will become an ouji like Kyouya though, by changing his hair style like Erika told before.
