| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Weird episode but I liked it. Aki (one of the girls from the band) is suspected of being a culprit of being a recent string of murders. The episode reminded me of something out of a sci-fi movie with the aliens disguised as humans. (even more disturbing about the lifeless possession part). I find the characterization about that idol girl Aki to be rather interesting related to Funny. Good to see that Jiro was able to deal with all this as well. |

| Lol at Kikko's reaction at Jiro kidnapping Haruka. The fight between her and Jiro was pretty good (even if it was a short one). So the Rainbow Knight hasn't got his powers from his suit and mask I guess. 4/5 |

| This episode made me cry. Maybe because I was listening to Abney Park's "Born at the Wrong Time" right before watching this(and that song pretty much sums up this episode), maybe because I did not expect a japanese show to deal with subject like this, maybe because the story was very tragic here. I don't know why. Last episode we explored the thin line between right and wrong, ending with Raito Shiba deciding to follow his sense of justice instead of the majority's. This episode segues from that to the next logical point - "doing what you want" versus "doing what others tell you to" - being ordered to act according to someone else's ideal and justice. Freedom of Self versus Restriction of Majority Rule. And it is done via exploration of same-sex relationship in context of that era's japan. Actually saying "that era's japan" is not that correct, as the idea of doors towards entertainment industry being shut down for you if you are revealed to not being heterosexual is a common present day problem with society there. Gay people are pretty much restricted from things like modelling or even music. Expressing who you are, standing out from majority rule, can damn you, because being different from the norm is viewed as dangerous for society. Aki and Funny represent that. One takes her life to be free from shackles of the society she lives in, other is left on self destructive path searching for true freedom of self. It connects to flashbacks where we finally get to see more of Jiro's interaction with the fumers and fumer motivation. Their intention to evolve humanity is confirmed, as is their malicious intentions hinted by the space detective last episode. Its interesting that we again have the blurring of right and wrong here. Akita who represents disorder and chaos among three fumers and the one who did horrifying murder in the last episode of last season, is the sensible one with good intentions. Akita came to believe into the capability of human individual to become what individual wants, without guidance. He came to that belief via Rainbow Knight and the realization that he, as a normal human, via his choices and beliefs, accomplished seemingly superhuman deeds. And it connects nicely to the plot surrounding Angel Stars, as Jiro believes in Aki being able to become who she wants to be, eventually being able to be free to do what she wants, believe what she wants and love who she wants, without the majority rule of what is right and wrong weighing it down. In the end, its all about freedom to chose who you are. And Jiro is giving that hope to Aki by letting her get away. Just like with Raito in the first episode - what one views right and wrong is individual choice. An individual can't function via the sense of right and wrong that others would chose for him/her or that is instilled into one via propaganda. Aki's tragic story, just like Rainbow Knight, represents someone wanting to be more than the society around them would let them to be. He had no powers. Neither the suit nor the individual. He came to be viewed as superhuman via his own actions. |

I have a feeling that Ellen DeGenres and many LGBT people in the industry would disagree with you, but I could also say that until only a few years back, your views did hold true for the most part. I too am glad that this show is hitting upon some very philosophical questions which are relevant to society today. I tend to have to rewatch portions of this show due to a lot of it's dialogue, but I have to say that the issues raised and the views put out make it all worth my while. |

I am talking about SPECIFICALLY Japan. And problems with LGBT treatment in Japan. Since culturally this show deals with Japanese culture and Japan's issues, alongside the whole justice talk. Yuri Kuma Arashi pretty much was the show that shows with how Japanese treat LGBT people in Japan. Its "being invisible if you stray from norms of society" is very apt to describe it. |

| there were few things which have been revealed in this episode, and i really like it, especially the fact that Fumers are inside Jiro's body and are trying to maintain hir power. that is cool imo. The fight between Fumers and Jiro was really damn cool imo too, even tho it was only for a minutes. The fight between that big girl and Jiro was really good too imo. Rainbow Knight is a human ?! :o now Human and Superhuman ain't any different...i kinda suprised after i saw that fact. really good episode overall imo. |

| It was great hearing the ending theme from the first season again during the fight scene. That should be used all the time as Jiro's fight song. (I'm not a fan of either the op or ed of this season.) |
| I don't know what it is, but I'm enjoying this season a lot more than season 1 thus far. I guess it's the fact that now that the main focus of the story is in play, things become much more clear and fun. I don't think there's much else of a reason. |

IF the show was not already crucified over there due to the UNIT731 references and all the other less than nice things in JApan that the show dealt with last season, this episode would certainly do it. And what's more next episode going by preview continues to explore the theme of nationalism too. Hoo boy. |

| So this time we're focusing on a member of the Angel music band. Aki has been fired for a scandal – she was dating a fellow member and the higher ups didn't like her being a lesbian. Funny died, or perhaps killed herself, and Aki wants the fumers so that she can go somewhere and leave this planet. Unlike Jiro and Shiba, her sense of justice hasn't awakened, she's just fed up with being used by others. Imperial Ads used her and the band for popularity – they supported the protesters when it was cool and then switched towards the police's side later on because protesting was no longer cool enough. They weren't doing this because it was the right thing, they were doing it for themselves and using superhumans in the process. She wants to be free from all this crap, which was also the demand made by other superhumans. We also find out why the fumers are with Jiro. Akita and his pals were interested in helping the human race excel because they're way cooler than these earthlings. Akita was the only one actually interested in helping humans as compared to his colleagues who weren't so much. What really had Akita's attention was Rainbow Knight who was neither a superhuman nor did his suit have any superpowers – he was a normal human pretending to be a superhuman. Akita believed that the best way to help these humans is by not staying on this planet which is why he had Jiro take out Red and Blue smoke and then he proceeded to enter Jiro to control the beast within. Rainbow Knight showed that you don't really need to have superpowers to do something big. He became everyone's favorite hero just by being a normal guy in a suit (like Batman). One intriguing bit was that Akita's pals said that they spent all this time to create the perfect superhuman. I don't think they were talking about the bodies they were in. They were most likely referring to Jiro as the perfect superhuman for themselves to take over which means that Hitoyoshi and Emi didn't turn Jiro into this form on their own but did it for the fumers. The fumers true intentions with regards to the bureau were also revealed to be that this was all to gather superhumans and then pick the best ones for themselves, Jiro being one of those chosen for themselves. Akita had a change of plans but the other two didn't. Judas made some modifications to Aki which gave her the power to turn into a giant in armour. Lol for a few moments after turning into a giant she gave anyone below one hell of a view. The things going on here are the military wants superhuman weapons, the bureau wants to arrest those superhumans who are protesting i.e most of them, and Jiro is fighting both of them. Imperial Ads wants to use superhumans as items to earn some cash which resulted in the breakup of the band. The government isn't a big fan of the superhumans and their protests which is why there were attempts to have them portrayed as criminals and such instead of giving them the freedom they were about to get. |
