Great episode!

The Sub-Captain proved to be a dirtbag.

I wasn't impressed by this episode at all, the death was incredibly cheesy and the Sub-Captain was proven to be a rather one dimensional character. Wasted potential, imo.

I agree completely.
I also hated the part where Reinhard turns on the PA system as the Sub Captain started ranting. Not only was it such a cliche, but that's the kind of cheap trick Reinhard wouldn't stoop to resorting. Very out of character for our dignified Reinhard.

The sub-captain just killed a man and they didn't mind it at all, shouldn't he be put to arrest or something?

His arrest is most likely delayed because of their obvious situation. The emotion was there though, after Rolf died Rienhard was about to make an impulsive measure.

I rather enjoyed seeing a single ship of soldiers fighting amongst each other, and for leaked information that eventually broke Rienhard out of his cell. It was a great approach. To me, the sub captain has more depth to him, even if we can't see it it's because his logic was compromised and doesn't want to be proven wrong by a less superior officer. I'm sure the next episode would reveal his actual incentives for becoming a military man.

Most scenes in LotGH happen irrationally but are remedied by calm circumstances once the situation is resolved. That's where the character development is.

Why was he still holding a gun at that point? Wasn't Kircheis good enough to shoot the gun from out of his hand? He had done it from a march farther range in the other gaiden . . . So . . . Shouldn't he have done that? Anyways liked this episode somewhat.

Reinhards always been happy to be a populist. I don't have a hard time matching that action with his general personality and current attitudes.

Reinhardt was always larger than life, even as a teenager. While putting the PA on was a populist move, it was the right one and an inspired move.

This episode reminded me a lot of the movie Red Crimson. A mutiny takes place and both sides move in order to establish their position under extreme duress.

I feel bad about Rolf but he did something that helped the entire crew, without Reinhard they would die anyway.
Finally he is in command of the ship, now they only need to escape.

If I have any complaints with the plot, it's just that I fully expected Kircheis to stop the Lieutenant before anyone, at least by shooting the gun off his hand. Dunno why he didn't do anything and Rolf had to step in like that.

A serious death was commited here, sub captain just couldn't hold his composure together and shot an innocent man but more importantly someones brother.

It seems that its not Reinhard who is about to go to thhe military court for his actions, how will they perform from here is the real question

Man Rolf's death hit hard, he died an honorable man. I always forget just how easily Reinhard's able to inspire people to follow him, he just has this constant energy of being a strong leader, which I would expect no less of, knowing him.
