----------------------------------------
A bit predictable imo, perhaps too much. The music overall was nice though and a set up for the next arc. Interesting to know that we're also at around half point of this series now.

Heh, I guess miracles do happen.

There are still some retarded moments but still, good build-up for the conclusion next week.

Still can't help but to laugh at some animation problems.

Not too bad, good build up to the next one. From the preview it looks like there'll be plenty of flashbacks. I can only hope there'll be some about the other 4 Sailor Senshi.

Is there a Mamo-chan counter for this anime? Just curious

So Endymion's knights sacrificed themselves to save him. I was wondering how he didn't die.

Well good thing it ends next episode since I'm all in for the Black Moon arc.

It was an enteresting episode.

I was kinda sad that the knights died because I liked them so I hope they survive somehow. It isn't fair for the other girls if only Usagi gets to be with her loved one.

And of course the animation was bad.

Aside of the animation typos and bad lip-sync, it was a solid episode.

I love Sailor Venus taking charge like she did in the manga :) She's a great leader, even better than Usagi-chan, in my opinion.

I thought she used slash.

I also thought they would finish the arc this episode since its the halfway mark.

I'm a little bit disappointed. Some scenes look like 'factitious'.
They chose Sailor Moon's transformation music for final battle, really? Anyway, may be it's better than Moon Pride...

But I'm still waiting for a good battle and hope the second arc will better.

You know, I was thinking something along the same lines. Part of why I feel like Crystal has no soul is partially because the senshi seem to completely lack individual personalities beyond cheering for/protecting Usagi. The 90s anime had its flaws, sure, and there was an ungodly amount of filler, but at least they used some of that extra time to dedicate to some of the characters and develop them.

Holy shit budget for the animation must be running dry. How in hell is a series that took so long to do end up with this level of animation. We are not talking about Naruto with 500 episodes here... World Trigger had better animation than this. Just because it's not an action shounen doesn't mean you can do slideshows Toei...
bla bla bla
The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

I'm so sad about the animation budget.
Slideshows in so many parts of the episode...
I know that is an ONA... but still hurts to watch this animation crap.

I mean.. is the first time that they make a Sailor Moon animation faithful to the manga (Even if is not everything faithful), and we have this. Even the oldest version of sailor moon has a better animation, and the story is mostly fillers.

I'm starting to think the original material for Sailor Moon was incredibly overrated if this is a faithful adaptation (animation issues aside).

I was actually cheering for Metalia when she was torturing Sailor Moon with those voices. Yes, your selfishness has doomed several billion lives to torment and death. I think you probably should get a feel of what the heck you just did. I get that Romeo and Juliet might have been really romantic, but Romeo and Juliet didn't damn humanity by their actions. Shakespeare didn't have the world blow up with them.

Yeah, the 90s show was actually way better than this. A terrible amount of filler to be sure, but at least the characters had some personality and development. 90s Usagi had a lot of issues, but she wouldn't stab herself with a sword and doom a planet. She did have some sense.

This is just bad.

It was a great episode, and I love when Sailor Venus takes charge that's always great, but it drives me crazy how much Crystal has made all the senshi (aside from Sailor Moon obviously) seem so useless, like no matter how much they do there's never any effect. Hopefully that will change in later episodes.

And of course the Sailor Senshi (aside from Moon once again of course) have to split all this dialogue that could all be said by one character but I guess I understand all the equality in lines and I appreciate that, but I just wish they did more because they deserve more spotlight and strength than what they're actually getting.

I liked this final battle. I think it does a good job at showing how at risk the world is in and how doomed it would be if Sailor Moon & team fail. I never liked Sailor Moon stabbing Mamoru then herself but it's true to the manga *shrug*
I wasn't bothered by Sailor Moon being weak at times during this episode, it shows that she really does need the support from her Sailor Guardians, Tuxedo Mask and Luna. That even when the rest seem powerless they still have a role.
I was irked by the Sailor Guardians sharing lines but more bothered by them all reacting the same way. They didn't all have to get depressed. I was hoping for one of them, maybe Jupiter, to encourage the others to not give up. But I am happy that Venus got the sword and they used an attack the wasn't completely useless(?)

Anyway, it was entertaining and was mostly faithful but also did a lil bit of it's own thing.

clearly this fails to bring a friendship relation between usagi and the senshi's. So the most "emotional" scene was lame, uninspired and boring, I feel nothing just shame. 0 Character Development, Sailor Moon was a anime about Friendship and here never really happens, so sad.

I love Sailor Moon, to death, but this adaptation is bad in every way possible.
The character development is butt, the soundtrack mediocre, the dialogue seems stiff and forced, this adaptation is lacking emotion....in every way possible. Not to mention the animation, is laughably bad, it's like they're not even trying. It's offensive.

This episode was especially bad, the effort put into making this seems to become less and less every two weeks.

1992 adaption could easily end up just like this, if not for Ikuhara enthusiasm:

http://forum.evageeks.org/post/672392/Kunihiko-Ikuharas-World-Anno-and-Ikuhara-discussion/#672392

Hideaki said:
Iku-chan was a heretic within Toei Animation. Because there was rotation key framing went through horrible (work) cycles, but in middle of that Iku-chan was playing, animating single cuts on ones*. In first episode the good number of key frames to be used is decided and in case you don't take care this quality is kept up this'll happen (*motions head chopping*) but under such conditions he was doing strange things. He'd animate on ones inconsequential scenes that were supposed to be as motionless as possible, for example Ami complaining after getting pinched.
There was no other guy doing such foolish things and I was sure he had to be interesting guy.

The staff treated it just like another one routine project:

Kunihiko said:
Indeed in the planning memo titled Sailor Moon you could see doujinshiesque ideas and certainly no one on staff initially thought it would become such gigantic hit.

Note how Anno characterized TOEI as soulles anime conveyor:

Hideaki said:
Toei doesn't really ask for much individuality and when that kind of person wants to maintain good relationship with the company there really isn't other options than to bail from it. Ikuhara and Hosoda and Taku-chan (Takuya Igarashi), every director I know has left from there.

Goodness, every time Luna cries or feels bad, my heart sinks. And that part where Endymion's knights appeared one last time, man, that was good. I truly love the original manga adaptation more than the 90's anime which went into its own route. Hey, I like it as well, but I won't put nostalgia glasses and say it was amazing, when it could do without all those freaking fillers (The season I truly enjoyed in the 90's series was the last one). The only thing this new reboot needs to do is get the art and animation better. Because it really needs it

the series already suffered from too much QUALITY, but this episode takes the cake
the QUALITY is too obvious - the last scenes in which sailor rotates and get a staff, and how she manipulates the staff...it's as if a kid was in charge of the animation, not a professional.

Notes while watching the episode:

So yeah, suicide/murder is OK to show...blood= no no. What do shojo characters not have blood? All of that is just sexist.

The sailor scouts didn't have mouths when they landed at the beginning of the episode. They must have used their planet magic to get their mouths back.

Like seriously!? The frekin cat is the one that gets the crying reaction. There are 5 other characters that I would like to see that reaction from before picking the cat. *Tanuki* (If you don't get it, go watch Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun)

Sailors blast through the roof. "You forgot to take your sword!! Damn, I though it was important to the plot." If it wasn't important to the plot, then why spend so much time focusing on the damn magic sword!?

Every time I see that "Chain" around venus's waist I wound what else does she use them for. Oh, and sometimes when they say Venus it sounds like they are saying penis. Haha, that's all you hear from now on if you watch this series again.

Cat talks too the crystal: Uhg. (tanuki)

Toie!! This is unacceptable! This is not one of your an episode a week deals. Please put a little more effort into it. Its not One Piece. Please Please! Never use a flash back again.

Oh no! I can feel the Deus Ex Machina coming on. It going to be a big one.

Oh look the sword is back? Oh right, its a MAGIC sword. My bad. When they said something and then the animation stopped for like 10 seconds I thought that Hulu froze Again. Nope, it just the subtle way of adding filler.

If they yell out "Blah Power" one more time., i'm gonna gouge my ears out with a rust nail. Every time they say [insert palnet's name] Power, take a drink. Me passed out on the ground 1/2 through the episode.

Hahaha, there it is at least part of the dues ex machina. Dues ex machina Activate! Form of a pocket watch! I know it isn't over yet.

It gets a little yaoi-y there when they are calling Mamoru "Master". I wonder how many fanfictions have been born from this scene.

Haha, oh, and the magic knight crystals are another part of the dues ex machina. They saved Mamoru after are dead? Yay! Wait, why is Mamoru back to normal? He's still evil right? Don't explain it, doesn't matter. What ever the logic is, it has to do with magic therefore, And No Sence Was Made Today!!

I think it would be weird to have your girlfriend call out your past life's name. Its kinda like calling them by your ex-boyfriends name.

When she was twirling her baton it looked like she was shaking it back and forth.

Man, the sailor scouts must have been drinking hard. Look at how they are passed out on the ground. They are probably playing the sailor moon drinking game. Every time Usagi and Mamoru have a touching moment take a drink. Either that or they are boycotting their participation in this bad remake. I would too.

Lol, Sailor Moon might be dead and all the inner senshi just stand there and cry.

There are so many random things that happen for the good guys' convenience. Like, the watch and the knight crystals. Okay

Although it's been like, a year and a half since I saw the original sailor moon, I remember the final showdown vs Queen Beryl being so much more epic

Hello everyone, i would like to say quite a few things so please be patient. First of all i had the privilege to watch the first Sailor moon as kid. It was my favourite anime back then and still does. I'm one of those people that even that they are obsessed with Sailor Moon i couldnt read the manga at all. i just can't. Not only this manga but any manga! When they said that they are gonna make the remake i said "this is gonna suck big time". So we are here the first part just finished and here are my thoughts.. 1)I hate the fact that Usagi it's not the crybaby, innocent look like girl.. at the first 2-3 episodes looked like a spoiled brat.. Thank God they change it a bit later. 2) The animation and graphics.. She doesnt look like 14 years old girl.. More like around 22.. 3) MUSIC.. music sucks... sorry to say that but you cant compare MOonlight Densetsu with anything! and although i understand that they couldnt use that music still this sucks!!! 4) story... as i said i havent read the manga that means that i dont know details that many of you already know.. I liked the fact that i know MORE now after the remake! I had no idea that Serenity killed him and serself!I had no idea about the behind story or about sailor scouts!(only a little bit from live action sailor moon)... So i'm really happy i see this part of story! From all that i saw i miss the music star locket charm..(now clock) and some other parts.. I see this remake as filler.. it's sound strange but this is all i can do.. I wanna keep the first version in my heart and fill the little details from this one.. About the act we are waiting... I'm not sure what to wait.. i dont like Chibi that much. I wanna see the episode when Usagi and Mamoru learns that she is their daughter..

After delaying this for a month i'm finally back on track.

Pretty good episode, but questionably quality. Like Ami's eyes seem off when they were about to go to Queen Metalia.

I was hoping the other 4 senshi would produce a special attack, but all they did is raised their hands and a light came out of nowhere.

It's a good thing Mamo's watch and knights protected both Usagi and him.

One thing this series did good is how dark it is. Really fits perfect, which is a shame they couldn't match it with a proper storyline.

And yeah the last shot was kinda eh. Come on now Toei!

Precure have better animations than this!!!

Oh well can't wait for the next episode.

Hysterical animation in this ep..especially that part where the wand wiggles rather than spinning full circle while in Usagi's hand.
I still don't get how Usagi got knocked out if the sword only hit the watch..
I need the Black Moon arc already..i'm kinda over this storyline now.
