I enjoyed the first half of log horizon, but the second half kind of stagnated. Would you guys say that the 2nd season resembles the same notion as the 2nd half of log horizon or the first half?

Hmm, interesting proposition. I'd say that it resembles both. At times the plot has seemingly stagnated, although I'd say these period are devoted more so to technical details that need to be flushed out and expanded upon (which can be a bit boring and slow.) At other times we've been introduced to new aspects of the world of Log Horizon, we've seen some cool battles in the MMORPG vein, and new characters and villains arise (along with more information on the insanely large cast of characters.) It seems like the second half has a bit more potential, I just hope the villains are interesting enough to satisfy this potential.

Thanks for the reply,
I think I'll give the 2nd season a shot (after finishing the first >_>, I should get on that), seems promising.

Still prefer the first season though. The 2nd season has a rather rushed pacing as a result of cramming 2 different stories into a single arc (which for me unfortunately, cancel each other out). The explanations regarding the world building also feels rocky, with plot points just kept piling up left and right and only managed to address some of them at the very last moment in the arc, when my patience was drained already.

IN MY OPINION season 1 is so much better because than s2 i feel like their focusing too much on supporting character stories for like they give massachuset (dont know how it spell) i 1 episode just to make him realize something blah, blah,, even in ep 23 almost ending but still focusing on other char..im not a haters but from what the log h now this is what i feel in s2..how bout you guys what are your opinion?

There was way too much focus on the B-Team in season 2. I don't necessarily dislike them, but there's just significantly more interesting stuff going on with the OG's.

OP! Please make this a poll so we can see the tally!

Log Horizon 1 seems better simply because I don't think as many people cared about the kids' adventures. Needs more Shiroe in Log 2.

Log Horizon 1 is better because of the initial pain the characters had to go through to come to grips with the world.

s1 >s2
i watched the recent episode of season 2 and i DID NOT EVEN notice i skipped 2 previous ones, its like nothing ever happens in that anime ...
Lets hope Shiroe finds the main plot somewhere.
However, the anime itself is very mediocre, the world building is FUN though , characters/plot not so mush ...

Season 2 started well, it was pretty good. But after coming from the raid it became shit.
People from China(?) and from the Moon(?!)...what the hell. Confusing and boring.

I only have about 6 more episodes to watch but I think I'll drop it

Obviously, imo season 1 is better

I almost fell a sleep a couple of times when I watch s2.
I like LH simply because of world building and Shiroe's way to solve problems but s2 pretty much discard all of those.

1. S2 is just filler mixed with wasted ideas that just screams that the airing schedule was decided before the script.

they had time to work on it though, didn't s1 air in 2013 and a s2 was pronounced at the end.
Though i seriously dont see the appeal, the anime is MEH at best ...

A years gap isn't much, especially considering that the first season was based on 5 novels while the second was based on three & the author has slowed down his output massively, suggesting there will be even less source material for s3 next autumn (assuming they try to stick to the same yearly schedule). That wouldn't in itself be a problem, but it looks like the shows having the usual anime problem of not being allowed to deviate greatly from the source material but there not being enough source material to pad out the number of scheduled episodes (& no roadmap given to the scriptwriter by the author), so we're just getting stretched out storyarcs & shitty valentines day fillers

I don't know there's going to be one, but unless they did all this work purely to promote the release of book 9 (end of this month, when the season ends) I assume they're planning to do a S3. Just makes S2 seem an even bigger waste of time if they don't. LH being an after school show rather than a late night affair also makes me think they're planning more if they can get it.

that sounds legit :|
i never thought of it like that :P

I still prefer season 1. I've seen discussions over the improved artwork/backgrounds, and animation in season 2... but the first season just had something intangible that really sold me on the whole anime. Whatever it is, that "something" is just missing from the second season for me.

also, combining two plots in the first cour this season was sort of necessary, and not a negative to me. The novels had them split into separate volumes, but the events occurred concurrently. In my mind, it would be hard to handle that in an anime by covering one series of events then "flashbacking" to cover the other series of events.

I agree that the first half of Log Horizon season 1 was better than the second, and season 2 did a nosedive for me from even that. I haven't read the LH novels and went into it not knowing any spoilers, but I was expecting season 2 to be a balance of their real world politics and MMORPG world building, discovering more things about their world, finding more debauchery tea party members, maybe even find out how they got there and/or why.

Ultimately though, the first season started off with Shiroe, Akatsuki, and Naotsugu being the center, and a lot of the secondary characters are not interesting enough to hold that position. Even characters that got a lot of development in the first season were barely around in the second. I completely forgot Rudy was originally a person of the land, and when I remembered I was surprised he was so indifferent about the adventurers returning to their own land. I thought he'd have at least something to say when

Sign is the lowest trash.

But no seriously, LH 2 has a lot of good moments...but they're all about the adults. They lost the plot when they wasted too much time focusing on the kids, and the little mini-arc with Akatsuki had some cool moments but also dragged too much.

Really, LH2's biggest problem is pacing. You can tell they were trying to drag out what they had to fit 26 episodes.

If they really have caught up, I don't want a third season next year. Chill out and let another five volumes come out. This season was decent but I couldn't watch if the quality dipped further than this.

I thought the second season was a lot better. I remember watching the first and thinking how slow the pacing was and it was a tad bit boring. I don't really remember much great things from it. But the second season introduced a lot more interesting plot developments and the characters became a lot more bearable (except the kids). Sure the art change was strange at first but then I got used to it, people exaggerate the drop in quality.

I really love how the adventurers adapted to the game and made it there own, and the conflicts that inevidently occur when people disagree as to the purpose of their existence; should people stay in Elder Tales or leave? Isn't it unfair for people to be forced into a world they don't want to be in? But what about those who feel this world is more like "home" than the real world? Is it the adventurers role to protect the people of the land, or will their existence threaten them by instigating wars? Seeing the characters debate with these topics as they try to form a functional society in a game where no one dies is quite interesting.

There's also a sense of mystery and unknown in the second season, such as the different cities with their own agendas, the China server, and the monsters on the moon. It greatly enhances the world-building, making the problems of Akihabara and our main protagonists feel, while connected, much smaller, thus mimicking the grandness of our own real world. This atmosphere I felt was missing in the first season.
