@xchee If they don't use their powers often, the corrosion happens slower. As Enju is a combat initiator, it only makes sense she'll need it more. And the old man looks like a nice guy XD.

It sucks how cruel the world can get in anime or in real life. I can sympathize with what the antagonist's does somewhat.

Was I the only one who got a bit alarmed when the Elder was revealed to be an old man? A part of me was like "wth are you doing to those little girls?!" I think it would have been a gentler scene if it was an old woman *shrugs*

I'm pretty sure if he didn't treat them right they could whoop his ass.

Fucking cops!

Felt so sad for Enju. Poor girl.

Somehow it seems the Masked Madman is just, not the world they are living in. At least he treats the little girl as his daughter, even though whether she is his real daughter is unknown. Can't believe one of the initiators mimicked that she is starving.

This anime just got 10 times darker and 10 times better! Cannot wait for the next episode!

This pacing is a total mess. Anime only viewers aren't getting any feels from these developments because they have almost no buildup. It's like they highlighted every major plotpoint and animated them one after another, and forgot to add everything in the middle. Makes no sense to skip the Kisara scene, or the buildup with Enju's school. But shit, let's make sure to animate a whole minute of Enju being moe.

Expectations for this are getting lower and lower,

Well, at least best girl Senju is here.

So glad this has gotten darker than the first ep. Wonder why the masked man wanted to team with Rentaro, is he special? And I don't really understand why Enju ran away, it's not like Rentaro rejected her.
I'm still hyped for this series though, might end up being my favourite of this season

She ran away because the secret she hid which was being a cursed child got leaked out at school. Put yourself in her shoes, cursed children are treated very bad. An example would be the little girl that got beat up by the cops. That shows how much they society hates cursed children and why the Elder is trying to teach the cursed children to behave properly and control their emotions when they are socializing with other normal people.

She also ran away because Satomi didn't help the little girl. Maybe she doubted Satomi's kindness and she ran away. I mean they only know each other for a year but still she must be very mad at Satomi for not saving her on the spot.

Back to Enju, since her secret got leaked out she couldn't stay in school because she would get discriminated for being cursed. How her secret got leaked out is left to speculate but I have a couple theories:
- Someone from Enju's school saw her fight the masked man's girl and they leaked her secret
- One of her classmates got her mad at school and she accidentally showed her red eyes. Cursed children have red eyes when fighting

The masked man did say: "Have fun at school tomorrow"

I have reason to believe either he or his daughter did it.

Wow, they're really leaving things out. They removed scenes like Rentarou yelling at Kisara and and Kisara falling asleep on Rentarou's shoulder, along with many important plot points.

It seems like the director really doesn't like Kisara and wishes to market the show more to the lolicon crowd. I can't blame him, that type of stuff sells, but if they're going to butcher the source material then it isn't respectable at all.

This is Promising,Easily took my interests compared to the last few years.I'm glad that there's still one anime that has the balls to get Dark.
Anyway I Don't know if there's a Novel or Manga but I'm hoping that the Masked Guy is actually a good guy and just forcing darker methods to Achieve it.Sort of like an Anti hero.Hoping that Protagonist would join hands with him,I would honestly Enjoy it more that way but this is fine too.

Gender is determined by an X and Y chromosome with XX being female and XY being male. The Gastrea virus locks in the XX chromosomes while the fetus is still in development stage, thus a female is produced. Plus they're all 10 years old, because the virus only appeared 10 years ago. Hope that helped.

Now that's how you do an episode! This was the series I had the most reservations on, but now that has gone out the window. This was a fantastic episode! It has now become one of my favorites of this season.

Anytime race/class issues are brought up in anime, and are treated as serious matters, I'm happy. I like seeing how people deal with the darker side of humanity, and this series is now rapidly approaching that!

The stark reality breaks through the eyes of Rentarou. The cruel execution of the girl by police officers said a lot about the rotten society we live in. This is a fictional world, yes. But it could assemble perfectly into our own real world.
Oh my, Enju. She needs to go back with Rentarou, there is where she belongs.
And that Hiruko guy makes me feel uneasy. Not much science is needed to know what a bastard he is.
Can't wait for the next episode.

Much better than episode 1 although some of the logic still baffles me. Is humanity really that stupid to treat the only people capable of protecting them like garbage? I'm surprised that society hasn't dumb themselves to extinction. I think I'll root for the mask guy now.

The villain's motivation is similar to Enjin from Yozakura Quartet. Heck, even the MC's VA is the same lol.. and yay for Aki Toyosaki voicing Seitenshi.

Whatever the reason is, the author really went out of his way to make sure there are tons of loli. It's like he was thinking "I want lots of lolis in my story, let's think of a reason to make it that way"

Trust me. Humanity can be really stupid. And petty. Countless lives wasted by competing generals with big fat egos, seeing who can reach a certain area first before the other. Sending soldiers on suicide runs. Killing each other in the name of religion. Killing each other in the name of money.Cutting down all our forests.
Polluting our planet, and hoping, praying that global cooling/warming won't happen.

They really should have gone into detail the hatred that the "pure/cursed generation (depending on whom is speaking of that generation categorizes it as" faced as compared to those of the "ruined, lost generation" who lost their children, family, friends to Gastrea.

Also, to people saying that Rentaro did nothing to save that girl. He did a lot more than normal people would. Real life examples. There was a child who was run over by a truck in china. People passed by for SIX hours, and the child was run over two more times. Finally, a cleaning lady "rescued" the child. Yes, the child died.

The murder of Kitty Genovese. People watched for half an hour as a woman was stalked, raped, and murdered. Other than one person shouting "leave her alone", nobody came to her defense as she screamed for help while being stabbed.

Also, if you didn't notice during the episode. The child was struggling and pleading for help. Everyone else was watching. After she was taken away, the people who stopped to watch just started to walk again. In the manga/ln, it even stated that they sighed with relief that a problem was taken care of, and continued on with their daily life. Rentaro was overcome with guilt, and he actually did do something, although late. He also paid for the girl's bill, and it is mentioned in the LN that if he didn't the hospital would have just turned him away, and they would have snidely said "oh the doctor isn't in at the moment."

Most rage inducing was when the doctor asked Rentaro "shouldn't you report this to the police?" Yea, the story just becomes even more bitter once you realize the context.

I don't think the anime explained this point well but while the cursed children are able to fight off the Gastrea they are also at a risk of turning into one, that is why everybody is so scared of them.

Much better episode than last week but still very rushed.

Isn't that all the more reason to treat them well and make sure they got their shots? Looking at that poor Cursed Children, it's a wonder she's able to survive and not turn to Gastrea without regular injection (which I assume won't be readily available everywhere).

more dramatic episode
the plot is still moving fast, but nothing that hinders
Enju is strong and very kawaii, is the best loli of the season?
Rentarou was also pretty cool this episode
but in the end they split, will be bad wait another week ..
_________

The shots don't stop the erosion just slow it down, they will eventually turn. Which is why society does not want one near them as they don't know when they will turn.

Overall, this was a much better episode compared to the first one, though it seems that they have taken some liberties with this adaptation (many scenes from the novel/manga have been truncated or moved around, and others have been completely cut). Still, there's no denying that this show has what it takes to be a hit.

in the manga it stated that mothers who would see the red in the eye of their child got insane. there was even a practice to give birth near the river, if it were a cursed child it get disposed immeadiatly.

hmm, let see, imagine you got a child with a disease, let say trisomery 21/down-syndrom. you live in a society where you are walled in the resources are limited. you can bring this child up or just give it away (or throw it in the river) and get a new child. now imagine the child dont have down-syndrom, but a virus, which one day will turn your daughter into a monster. you know that everyone will hate your child even if it is innocent.
you might say "this is my child, i will keep it no matter what", the thing is, most of us are normal human. they dont have the balls to go against the society. they choose the easierst route, just to dispose it off.

i compared the manga with the original LN, the manga actually added tons of scenes for the douchebag (the one with the scarf and big sword)

really starting to wonder how they will handle censoring in the anime, next there will be tons of blood coming

but to have all parents disposed is also a bit one-sided. if at least one or two parents might be more convincing. unless there's a law in the LN that they have to give their child to the dept that controls them.

Agree this last episode has been way better than the first one.
This series kinda reminds me of Machine-doll (especially because of how the MC treats Enju) but Black Bullet has a darker atmosphere, which definitely adds value to the pretty much plain plot of the show.

most of them will drop. the society dont view those childrens as those, who keeps the gastrea away, but as gastrea themself.

there is a reason why the current parent generation is called the lost/robbed generation (depending on translation), because they lost their family, their friend, their beloved eaten by gastrea or transfromed into gastrea. their orignial home has been destroyed by the gastrea virus.
and now you are expecting them just go ahead and "oh, but this is my child, he wont turn into a monster, trust me, even if he got superpowers we will keep him under control"? how realistic is it?

it has been only 10 years, the fear from gastrea is still widly in the mind of the people.
