Ah Kate is awesome for her strength and enthusiasm in this episode.

Great action this episode though. I really enjoyed most parts with the chef and the scenes on the train. White Falcon's transformation is awesome too.

Wait...Itsuka's Gorou's daughter!? I probably should have realized this sooner, but wow

And...it looks like Yasube finally has someone! Best of luck to ya with Kaorin!!

Man...that was close, things almost fell apart there...

I was really worried T_T

Now...why does Itsuka hide her eye? It doesn't seem to have any problems...

Damn, great episode, such an intense one.

Goro and Itsuka are pretty badass in here. Some back story for Goro was pretty good and knowing the new White Commander, Kaori. Though his good old friend Pierre had to die T^T.

Now this was a good episode :D

Really gave quite some depth to some characters.

Goro and Itsuka seem to have quite the past and was nice to know that even White Light's leader was once in Goro's gang. Seems that gang was much more important than I first thought.

And this Tsubaki seems really interesting too. Kaori even said that KateItsuka is starting to look like her. I wonder what happened in the past.

Awesome action this ep too. The Kaori vs Itsuka first then vs Goro were both epic!

Let's see how they'll deal with them now that they're hideout has been discovered.

Also RIP Pierre. If he died. Was a BA! Lol at Goro's blood being the cake topping XD

Wow, now that's how you do an action scene! Crazy stuff (with matching SFX).

The mysteries deepen:

Gorou's former gang.

White Light Commander Kaori.

Tsubaki-neesan.

Plamya/Itsuka.

Just what is going on?!

Also that scene after the end credits:

I do hope the two involved had a genuine connection and it's not merely a case of breaking the chain by targeting the weakest link.

I kind of like dude and want him to be happy or at least catch a break from being the usual fuck up/disappointment of the organization.

Also I hate when anime tries to provide comedy by singling out a character and picking on them such as Kondou-san and Sarutobi from Gintama (Sa-chan being 2nd Best Girl after Tsukuyo) and more recently the teacher from No-Rin.

Nice back story for Goro. I wonder who is Falcon and how does she connects with Goro and Itsuka.

I was way off the mark with White Falcon being Asuta's sister.

But anyway, it was interesting, I guess we are now getting some plot in this otherwise random comedy.

New characters introduced; White Light's commander Kaori aka White Falcon and Goro's former gang member; Pierre.

Goro got trapped by White Light. Pierre arrives to support him.

A little history of a gang where Goro and Pierre belonged in the past.
R.I.P Pierre. That was a badass fight.

Itsuka vs. Kaori was nice fight as well, though White Falcon had the upperhand.
Goro arrives on time and saves Itsuka. Kaori vs. Goro was epic.

There's probably a misunderstanding between Kaorin and Goro concerning their former leader; Tsubaki.

Everyone is happy eating Pierre's cake but Goro and Itsuka.. I kinda feel for them..
Nice development of the characters.

Kaori, unless there's another character with blue beads on their bangs.

Dunno what she wants with him though, seems like she already has every bit of info on Zvezda and Gorou.

First of all, new to MAL, help and guidance (if needed) would be much appreciated.
Anyway, with that out of the way: man, that was an awesome episode. Lot of action, Kate being Kate, Gorou being a badass with Itsuka and am I completely lost here or could Kaori aka White Falcon be Jimon's sister? I mean, was it in episode 6 or 7 when they show the governor's table with the framed family picture on it, and in that picture are the governor, Jimon and some woman holding a kid looking like Kaori? Or what is going on here?
Welp, looking forward to the next episode.

Well, Kaori calls Tsubaki 'nee-san' so she's probably Gorou's sister-in-law and Itsuka's aunt.

Kaori also says that Zvezda took Tsubaki's life - I mean, just how is Kate involved in so many things when she's so young?

Could it be that she can't age and is actually older than she looks? Maybe she's directly related to Tsubaki- maybe Tsubaki is the one who inspired Kate to pursue world conquest?

There's obviously a connection between Gorou, Tsubaki and Kate. Even before joining Zvezda, Gorou said that the only one capable of killing him was Kate so they knew each other back then.

There's also the whole deal with Asuta's apparent dad.. it's obvious Asuta never knew him considering he lived with his grandfather and all - his dad must be very powerful if he stands higher than even White Light - then there's also the deal with smoking, it's obviously a thing considering smokers got turned into pretty much zombies and there's always smoke surrounding Asuta's dad and his soldiers.

Ugh, there's just so much going on right now, I hope there'll be a second season.

A lot of "wait what?" moments. This show is just so pleasantly random and unpredictable as always.

So was Goro and Tsubaki married? Is Itsuka their daughter? Well one thing's for sure, Itsuka is definitely related to Kaori who turns out to be the White Light leader.

How old is Kate?! When Tsubaki was in the hospital (dead?), it clearly showed a very young Itsuka. Kaori says Zvezda took her sister away so...uh...*brain overheats*

Why does everyone think Gorou was married to Tsubaki and that Itsuka is his daughter?

It looks to me like he adopted his bosse's daughter after her death.

The way they spoke in the room when Pierre was kicked out and what she said about Gorou leaving the gang doesn't give an inkling that they were married.

It seems like a clear case of male gang boss's right hand man (gorou) swears to protect gang bosse's wife (tsubaki) who has taken over the gang after gang boss's (unknown) death.

He may have loved her in secret, sure, which would influence his decision to take Itsuka with him, but actually slipped her the D?

I don't see it.

Even the way Isuka/Plamya refers to Gorou as Ojiisan (the general term for Mister or Uncle) and not otousan (dad).

They don't seem like father and daughter more like old man and young girl he's looked after.

Or am I missing something? (don't say that hospital bed scene. It gives nothing away regarding marriage)

Well, I thought Itsuka was his daughter (even if adopted) because I heard her calling Gorou 'Oyaji' - which is another term for father - instead of 'Ojiisan'.

Maybe one of us heard wrong? I don't have the episode loaded right now so I can't be sure.

Now that you mention it...

But then remember how we're introduced to Gorou in the very first episode?

The way he and Plamya square up to one another before they do the Zvezda greeting: is that how a girl would behave to her father? A Japanese girl for that matter? (I can see her behaving that way to an adopted father but still).

Also it seems kind of odd: Gorou up and leaving the gang and dragging his blood daughter into something as dangerous as a terrorist organization.

I can see him being around Plamya/Itsuka when he was in the former gang, him wanting to leave/leaving, Tsubaki dying, him coming back and taking Plamya/or Playma begging him to take her with him as the gang dissolves.

But him taking his real daughter into a terrorist organization (dream or no)?

ARRRGH they need to confirm this ASAP.

Also re-watching that very first scene of the first episode of this show the world doesn't look like a good place post Hoshimiya-Kate Conquering.

I can't shake the feeling that MAL is wrong and this is actually 2-cour.

We shall see.

You damn right it would.

If you notice, he was literally the only person she didn't use that mind-control thingy on besides Plamya, who arrived home late, and when Plamya arrived they were laughing in mid-conversation.

It's funny you'd think he'd be the most likely person she'd use that device on (with scientist girl being the least likely).

Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up but still.

Also this might actually be a plot hole because I think he and Gorou were in the same gang pre-Zvezda (the smoking episode... episode 3).

If that's the case then why would he react that way to someone he already knew (Kaori was in the gang too or rather the younger sister to the gang's head).

This has gotten mighty interesting.

What part of Plamya behaves like a regular (Japanese) girl to begin wtih?

I think there's some connection between Tsubaki and Kate (and thus, between Tsubaki and Zvezda), Gorou knew of her even before he joined Zvezda - saying that she was the only one who could kill him.

Even then, I do see the scenario of Gorou taking Itsuka in after Tsubaki's death as the one closest to the truth - Gorou probably had a hand in raising her before Tsubaki's death so it wouldn't surprise me that Itsuka sees Gorou as a father figure.

...Yasu is the least dangerous person in Zvezda - Asuta too, but he was trying to make Kate refuse letting Kaori into their base so that was dangerous.

Kaori didn't need to do anything to him.

I'm fairly certain that Gorou's former gang dissolved after Tsubaki's death.

If you see the flashback, Itsuka was a little girl when that happened - the age difference between Yasu and Itsuka isn't too big and Yasu looked the same age he currently is in the flashback where he joined Gorou's gang.

That would mean that he was in whatever gang Gorou created afterwards, most likely.

Yasu was already smitten with Kaori. She didn't have to hypnotize him to make him do whatever she wants :p

I really hope he does something unYasu-like in the coming episodes. Maybe he would? I don't think he's loyal to Zvezda but he's loyal to Goro at least. Still, if he sides with Kaori I wouldn't be surprised at all.

@ Aloxamax,

Hmmm, you make quite a few points.

By the way regarding your sig: is "No Game No Life" something I should look forward to Spring-lineup wise?

Because I literally am not interested in anything in that lineup besides Knights of Sidonia, that ecchi mecha series and most of the comedy anime (Manga-ka san, kanajo ga Flag, Kawaisou etc). Oh and that Ping Pong one (caught the hype bug).

all the LN adaptations seem um shit (Black Bullet etc) though I will give them one episode grace like I did Mahou Sensou this season (will give the BONES one 3 eps...also might give Captain Earth an ep or two).

Wow, gone off track, is "No Game No Life" any good?

Muuu... I can't possibly give you an unbiased opinion, I will probably rate it 10/10 on hype alone.

The first volume of the LN series was translated - you can read it at Baka-Tsuki. There's also a few chapters of manga (there's like six chapters of manga so that's the shortest taste you can get).

Personally, I love the series... a lot. I won't write a summary because you can check them out in the MAL database but I would definitely recommend that you give the anime a try when it comes out in april - what I enjoy the most is the interaction between the siblings and the way they basically challenge the entire world (almost litterally too) on an almost daily basis (there's also a ton of inside jokes but I don't want to spoil too much).

I'm pretty sure that it'll be the only anime where you'll see someone winning a game of chess by yelling at the pieces.

Stop trying to make this show become logical, that isn't the point of it.

Yes, Kate isn't aging. Remember when we got Natasha's back story she had been much younger and Kate was the same age as she was now when they met.

My guess on Peppin and Ituska is that the gang revolted against Itsuka's father and mother killing them, Gorou was the only one faithful and defended their daughter, and took her to Zevda after Kate rescued him as shown during his back story (or some variation on that, maybe the parents were innocent and this was why Gorou turned on the gang, or something to that effect).

Kaori may think that Kate was responsible for all this somehow (or maybe Kate was indirectly).

Anyway, still having a lot of fun with this show.
