Wow, the art is really beautiful, all of those scenery, damn beautiful!!!!!!

Their father made a decision not to escape that cage, it's not Frog bro's fault that their father died ^_^

Public baths in Japan looks fun and that painting in the wall is awesome.

Well, time to sleep, I'll just continue this later.

This night was fun ahahahah.

Some female users are really petty.

Am I the only one who finds it disgusting that virtually every old man to ever lay eyes on Benten is head over heels in love with her?

Yes you are. What retarded comment is that? Benten is a young beautiful mysterious woman, of course those old guys around her will be enchanted by her.
What the fuck does their age have to do with anything? Do you stop realizing beauty when you get old?

4/5

After quite a bit of time (about 1 year), I find the slice of life of the tanuki, same as I remembered.
Slow, thoughtful and with a narration made ââwith a mix of seriousness and comedy, good.
Drawings good or bad depending on your taste, but really beautiful scenery and great emotional impact.
Final really sad and gloomy, like the previous time.

Well this episode went to some dark places. Considering it opens with Yasaburou and Yashirou deciding their grumpy old master needs a bath. A lot of this episode's beginning is comparatively light, after the tension of the Friday Fellows story. We see the characters griping and commenting on Yasaburou's extended absence. There's a silly transformation sequence in the master's apartment. And there's even the slice of life staple bath house story.

But after a goofy showdown with the Ebisugawa's and an army of goons they've hired. Where we get to see Yaichirou's cool tiger form again. And there's a kind of gross and uncommon to my experience in anime shit joke. We get a galling revelation about the long side lined frog in the well himself. It turns out Yajirou was with their father the night he was captured by the humans. They both were drunk and Yajirou left him in the middle of the city. Never to see him again.

I can only assume this is why he's been the frog in the well for so long. Guilt out of failing his father and brothers. I'm glad we finally learned a little something about him. His motivations, his origins all felt very suspect to me. I admire how this series seems to come in with the answers about characters as soon as it starts to seem tiresome we don't know yet. So I assume we'll learn even more about Yajirou and why he's in the well next episode.

I think coffee milk can better be explained by the ton of added sugar rather than the "multiplier effect."

The Ebisugawa twins are much more bearable to look at in their tanuki forms than their human-esque forms.

I don't really think that Yajiro should be given so much blame for his father's death. Their father is still a grown-ass man and made the decision on his own to let his guard down and get intoxicated.

I wanted to cry. It seems the stories of how the father died conflict, though. The old man from Friday Fellow's depiction of the father before he ate him was that he was sober.

Lmao those Ebisugawa brothers are so damn annoying

But wow that reveal, maybe that's why he's elected to forever remain a frog, as penance?

Agreed. I already liked this episode so much more with her not appearing throughout it.

I really can't blame Yajirou. We will probably learn some other details about the incident in the next episode, but even if we don't, how can we really blame Yajirou? You don't think straight when you are drunk. Perhaps Yajirou forgot entirely about their father that night after getting drunk. If anything, it's Benten and the other assholes who should be blamed, since they were the ones actually catching and eating him... :/ And like others said, he could have escaped if he didn't go on about it "being an honor" and "part of life" and all that.

I guess that's why he's been hiding in the well all these year. Guilt

So guilt keeps him in the well and as a frog, understandable.
Perhaps it's all got something to do with why Benten cries at his well, hmmm.
“I just spent the last two years thinking that you guys knew more than me about life and I just found out that you guys are just as dumb as me.” “Duh-doy.” “Yeah, duh-doy.”

...I didn't expect it at all. Oh my. I'm really shocked to the point I almost cried. (sorry for being dramatic but when I really like a show then I'll be very emotional and sensitive) T----T

I can't imagine how big and deep the guilt is inside Yajirou... is that why he locked himself up as a frog in a well? Oh my god. I'm typing this with tears in my eyes. I don't know how deep the anger or how loud the crying would be if their mother found out about this.

For this episode, I really appreciate Yaichirou as the eldest brother. By not letting Yashirou come along it actually saved Yajirou as his family and a brother and to Yashirou as well, and from this case I can also see that although Yaichirou is often annoyed by Yasaburou's behavior and lifestyle, he is the only one Yaichirou knows he can rely on and will share the burden with him as part of the Shimogamo Family :"")

For some reason, I also feel that I can't just blame Yajirou. I'm sure he had no intention of leading his father to death at all. I'm also sure that there is no one who feels more guilty than himself. By him becoming a frog in the well, it already shows how tremendous the sadness, regret, disappointment and anger of himself to the point that he has resigned himself and let go of everything.

I knew that he was wrong, but there was also a factor that his father didn't escape before being taken by Benten to the Friday Fellows. He can turn himself into a mountain, I guess running away from a human is very easy for him... and from his conversation with Yodogawa it does kind of show that his father was ready and sincere about it.
