I kinda agree with the quotes in this chapter. I guess it's a direct reference to saying the only thing you can trust is in yourself.

The uncle gets it. He really does. He's just as fukked up by the banality of society as everyone else and Punpun in particular, but he understands how one can operate in the world.

I think his speech will be lost on Punpun though.

Yuuichi is really awesome. And I was totally surprised when he said he knows about what happened between Midori and Punpun but isn't mad :O

I wonder if this speech will affect Punpun though -.-

Uncle know what was between Punpun and Midori and isn't angry! That's suprised!

Nice to see Yuichi being wiser and knowing how the world operates. And he knows about what happened between Midori and Punpun.

Was expecting that answer from Punpun tbh.

Oh so Yuichi did in fact found out, but much to everyone's surprise he's not mad at all about it. I'm glad that this incident didn't completely destroy the relationship between him and Punpun.

He knew the consequences of his inaction throughout the years yet took the gamble and subsequently lost but I can't say that my heart didn't sink when Papa started crying as he walked away feeling rejected. That's even one of my personal fears in life.

Yuichi suddenly became the coolest and chillest uncle ever with that real talk, briefly explaining to Punpun that he's a grown-up now and how there's no turning back. He even made the situation of getting cucked by his own nephew sound like it was a good thing lmao

Yuichi sure is a great character. I’m happy that stupid Midori didn't ruin the relationship between him and Punpun.

"There's a shocking amount of freedom in one's life." That quote from Uncle Yuichi is one of my favorites.

Although his speech was pretty good, there's a part of me that can't help but be mildly annoyed by his "cool, wise guy" attitude in the scene, given how pathetic he really is.

Punpun start smoking for the first time. Yuiichi tell everything about life. The key is responsibility. What you will choose and will be is all yours buy you should take responsibility for what you choose. Wise words Yuiichi.

Very nice and inspiring chapter, I kinda expected Punpun to decline his fathers invitation, its really better for all sides that way

His uncle giving another beautiful speech was just best thing about this chapter that really made it special

While I agree that every person holds responsibilities for their own actions, I feel like the uncle’s speeches aren’t as wise as he thinks. Or rather, they sound cool, but they reflect a shallow perspective, like he has some growing up of his own to do. (They’re actually pretty similar to Seki’s speeches, and even Seki called out his own bs.)

Part of being responsible for your actions means understanding that no human develops in a vacuum, and that whether we like it or not, our interactions with others help shape who we (and they) become. Telling Punpun not to ever blame others sounds great in theory, but he is largely who he is because of the people around him. Given what a crappy upbringing he had, I’d say he’s earned the right to point some fingers. Sounds to me like Yuichi is justifying his own irresponsibility.

Anyway, blame doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It depends on what you do with it. Hope Punpun can break out of this cycle.
