Mm, I just love the atmosphere of this episode. The piano like OST~

Oh and the twins makes their appearance. I haven't read the manga yet so this is the first time I've seen them. They are cute though imo :3

Eh, I spotted a dead deer......

Decent episode imo.

After the chicken now the deer..
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Hachiken butchering that deer was a huge step for him, he did a great job. Now he's more prepared when the time comes for Pork Bowl to become meat (that sounds harsh). But Pork Bowl really is cute >< After seeing how hard Komaba's mother works, Hachiken realizes that it's tough running a farm, how much time they spend working and how little profit they get. Poor Hachiken walking for so long, he thought that Komaba's place was pretty near but nope. And all it took to get signal was for Komaba to reach into the air lol.

Really really nice episode.

Loved the character development for Hachiken this episode :)

And the foreshadowing for Aki and Komaba's problem was handled really well.

Lol'd at Aki's Dad and his over protectiveness XD And Gramps is an awesome character :D

The butchering scene was pretty emotional.

Loved the AkixHachi moment and how it was ruined....by hitting a bear XDXDXD

Another interesting episode. LOL@Hachiken. Was he so stupid to realize 55 mins had already passed? And lol@labor standards act. Sure it wouldn't work for family farms. That slaughter scene was gross, yet the theme was deep and thought-provoking. Poor Hachiken, his hands smelled bloody though he had washed them.

I'm a Wildlife and Conservation Biology major, so I'm pretty familiar with roadkill animals. The animation on the roadkill and the butchering/skinning scenes were absolutely perfect. Somehow, the part about hitting the bear completely slipped my mind, since I haven't gone back to reread the manga, but they adapted those panels so well I ended up showing all my housemates.
I just can't see anything wrong with this show, it is far too brilliant.
5/5 and I'll probably watch this episode for years to come.

Yes, yes it is. The football coach at my high school brought in bear jerky for the jazz students one year. I don't know why, but hey, bear jerky. He also apparently made bear sausage for his Weights class.

Believe it or not, once we had a goat, the damn thing acted like he was a dog, the only thing he didn't do is bark. Had no problem eating him when it was time for him to be butchered.

It's a little fatty and strong tasting for me, but generally any game is tastier than domesticated animals in the same way that animals raised in a traditional manner (on pasture or free range) taste better than something from a meat factory. I'd take venison, elk, bison, moose, or wild boar over beef and pork any day of the week.

Seeing the damage the bear did on the truck reminded me of hitting a deer several years ago. Fortunately I just managed to hit the brakes and swerve enough to strike it a glancing blow rather than head on, but it still did around $4000 damage to our van. I fear deer and moose more than drunk drivers when I'm on mountain roads....

I love this show. Hokkaido reminds me of home.

Great episode, dem little twins, and that grand granny, being 107 years old and still kicking.

The deer part tho, I know that feel, I've been forced to watch something similar.

Loving this show thus far.

Great episode and series overall. The ending was pretty funny after that somewhat tense scene when he was preparing to butcher the dear. I thought he wasn't going to eat any of it but he manned up and just went with it which was good to see.

It seems like each episode Hachiken is developing more and more, and I enjoy that, if I was in his situation I probably wouldn't have butchered that deer. But it's good that Hachiken overcame that, but it will be sad when Pork Bowl's time comes =(

I enjoyed this episode, and I like the last part with Aki and Hachiken, although the bear was pretty funny.

Why are they tossing the organs? Heart, lungs, and tongue are the tastiest parts. Liver is good, too.

From my experience, an animal stops being a "living being" and just a pile of meat by the time I skin it and start chopping it up. Hachiken still seems to think otherwise, but I'm sure he'll come around.

Pork bowl looks delicious. I'm sure it will make for a good meal.

I remember reading this in the manga. One of my favorite moments. Had he been told to do this while he was back home, he wouldn't hesitate in refusing.
Though if I remember correctly, the anime is skipping a few (minor?) parts of the manga. I will have to go back and reread some time.

Ah the horror of seeing a animal butchered and skinned for food lol glad they didn't show the deer meat move after being cut.... That bear part reminded me of Takamura from Hajime No Ippo and his incident with the bear.

As a whole, this episode was one of the best so far. This whole anime is very likeable to me. Good theme done right.

oooh alsoi. back in the day, I used to watch my mom buy the chickens, slit their throats, hang them upside down to drain the blood, and they would flap about still headless for while while the blood sipped down. Then you had to gut and boil the carcass to make it easier to take off the feathers. Not too fond of those memories tbh ja
