That dude is such an asshole. They were just starting to come together too. I guess this explains the crutches seen in the opening??

What do you mean by this? Obviously Goro's pitching is so good that Kaidou isn't getting very many hits off him, regardless if he has amateurs in the field or not.

Eh, I must have forgotten this part of season 3. It's been around 3 years after all.

So, if I understand what you're saying... Goro is intentionally pitching so that the Kaidou players get a lot of hits in order to work the fielders, but it's not happening?

Or are you just mad that Goro left Kaidou and was blacklisted by every competent baseball prominent school so that he had to start a team up from scratch, from what used to be an all girls School? A baseball team is as good as their pitching. Pitching is far more important than batting. A dominant pitcher (especially one good with the bat like Goro) can be quite the force, particularly in middle/high school baseball.

Though this is just a practice match isn't it? I wouldn't imagine the Seishuu coach telling Goro to go easy on them if this were a tournament match...

Every season? Even season 2 where Goro was on the Kaidou reserve team along with Toshiya, Mayuumura, etc... people who obviously have a great deal of skill?

Though once again, I may not be remembering well.

Don't worry though, after season 3 Major is done with high school and moves on to a whole different playing field...

That was, in a while, a great episode. Their foreigner coach understands the team's flaws and weaknesses well. I'm glad that he is doing something to change Goro's one-man show. After so long, playing in many schools and teams, no one has changed that (or what has been shown) so that's great. The team is finally coming together, even though it's still a long way to win Kaidou regulars.

That assistant coach was an asshole indeed. I wonder if they will join the tournament, with their ace missing. He is the most important player after all, and I doubt they'd go far with someone just subbing in for him. They don't have an extra catcher much less player anyways. I'm wondering though if that assis. coach had aimed for that? I mean, he couldn't have predicted that Goro will run all the way there to 1st base.

I hope they don't give up on the tournament though. It's yearly right? So the next year they'd be third years and most of them would have to study. And plus Goro wants to beat the current regulars, his old teammates because they're strong compared to the current 2nd string lololol.

I am loving the team's coach right now, and hating Egashira right now. Goro will fight back from this and kick his ass, that much is clear.

The foreigner coach is addressing everything that I hate about Goro and making him change.

Wow, so if he can't have him, nobody can . . . But what might be even worse is the fact that kid went along with it. Praying Goro isn't injured for the rest of the season, that would just be stupid as @#$%

judging by the opening and how that guy in the glasses had something planned, it was pretty obvious that they were going to intentionally hurt Goro. However, even though i completely saw it coming, I'm kinda devastated. i really hope this doesn't have a significant impact on his baseball life.

It didn't turn out to be something frightening as I expected but that Egashira guy is not human being, he is the worst villain of this series until now.

Egashira belong in a hospital. A psychiatric hospital, since he's such a sociopath. What the fuck bro, how can you resent so much against a schoolboy? Yoooooooo.

Yamada had a good idea, even though it was frustrating at first. He should have told the other players, so that game wouldn't shit on their confidence.

This anime like almost all sport anime lacks common sense but this episode is going to far. Just a year ago Kaido reserve team was so good that they won against the first team and now the reserve team is SOOOO bad that they can't even score against a team of amateurs that have never played baseball in their lives until a few months ago and on top of that Goro is pitching so they can hit on purpose. Pretty bad season until now, everything is the same, like in the first and second season. Looking foward to finishing this because from what i read in season 4 and 5 there shouldn't be any amateurs involved.

the second string team when goro vsed the main team had sato, goro and mayamura among others. but i agree, it's a little ridiculous.

From the very beginning it was obvious that he is a prideful bastard. I would say that what happened here is one of few realistic scenarios in this story. It's only natural that if you piss of the wrong guy, he will come back to hunt you, even if you are insignificant to him, his pride won't allow him to not do it.

The only thing to complain about is that this scenario is only for a sake to Nerf Goro so his eventual victory against Kido be even more unreasonable.

Well to be fair, half of the reason they even won were Toshi and Goro. And they're still losing to Kaido since only Shimizu and Goro can hit the pitches properly.

I really liked this episode thanks to the coach. It's true that Goro's team rarely even gets to do something, and what Seishuu needs is practice, as they never really played a proper match. If Goro kept swinging at his best, they would win and get nothing out of it. This is probably the season where Goro finally learns that baseball is a team game and he has to put trust in his mates and depend on them like they depend on him. Like coach said, it might have been a run full of pointless sacrifices, but they still worked together just to push one guy to the base.

And like expected, Egashira had something planned.

Ichiro's wisdom is showing. I'm so glad he called out Gorou one-man show tendencies; they've gotten more pronounced ever since he went to Kaidou to the point of being a tad grating at times, even if he never quite crosses the line with it. With the way this season is going, the level of teamwork here could potentially end up rivaling what was present in the first season with Mifune Little.

I don't think what was protrayed here was particularly unrealistic either, like one poster above was complaining. Gorou was nearly able to completely shut down Kaidou's main team in the last season. Being able to make this season's second string consistently hit to fielders is not that much of a stretch given said previous accomplishment, especially when you consider he's improved even more since then.

As for the injury, I was expecting it. I'm really hoping it can heal quickly enough for the tournament somehow... If the team wasn't so small they might be able to get by with a substitute pitcher for the first two or three games of the regionals, but I doubt they could go any further in their current state since they would eventually encounter Mifune High at regionals. I'm not sure what they're going to do. That was really dirty on Egashira's part.

Fucking hating Egashira.

Since Major time feels so rare. And another injury? I hope not :<

Funny how Goro has to learn "teamwork" over and over again. I thought after Kaido he learned something about teamwork but no, not even close to it.

Feels like hes moving back with his progression of teams and his teamwork, only increasing his own skills.
My only regret is having regrets!

Goro is giving them home runs lmao it can't be fielding practice if he went that easy. He's probably pitching between 130-140 maybe a bit higher since the 1st string last time could hit them when they were in the 140s but struggled above the 150 mark. Also the reason last years 2nd string could even beat the 1st string was because Goro encouraged all these people to push themselves more than they would have. I mean he got these players that weren't supposed to win the welcome game and won that, and then he got himself as well as the others motivated to get strong enough to beat the 1st string. We even see like most of the people Goro trained with in the 1st string as regulars now. It's not impossible to say that last years 2nd string is leagues above the current one. They all seem manual dedicated, but you need passion which Goro supplied to his team to become even stronger. This 2nd string is weak because they don't have that burn. Enomoto even seems like he's gaining a spark because of how Goro plays. Also it isn't a few months, it has been about a year. He left Kaido after the intramural game which was before the summer tournament. Enrolled at Seishuu, and has been training this new team for the summer tournament in his 3rd year. If he got enrolled late July early August and the tournament is late May early June (maybe even later) it's not impossible for 10 months to see huge improvements even if they only practiced with no other teams. 8/9 players had some athletic experience with 7 of those being baseball oriented. I don't think it's farfetched especially since they got training from experienced coach and some indirect coaching from a pro player (because he said he couldn't help directly which I can kinda understand). They aren't all gonna be all around good players, but they have dedicated several months learning their specific position they were given.

i hope it's not just me to see the level of the animation and the OST rise in this episode, hope it's not temporary.
ichiro really stood up to goro, it's true goro can't lose a game in his personality but i believe since ichiro and goro think alike about baseball having fun will finally influence him.
that eshiraga, make me hate him more, i hope that the anime won't try to make me love hime too.

I can see why Goro doesn't want to cooperate fully as that would mean losing to Kaido even if its the second string hence I wish Ichiro explained in the first place that he wants to tackle Goro's oneman-show problem (finally someone to do it), still glad to see the teamwork improve.
