Nah, This anime ends all conflicts in a non-violent/ melodramatic way, while most of her favs. due most of them a mysteries and thrillers. I suppose but Bakemonogatari (one of hers and my favourite overall) is very much about the dialogue and Oregairu is pretty dialogue driven (admittedly not in the same way or to the same extent). I think she should rethink her stance on Oregairu anyway, it has plenty to offer in terms of how it handles real life situations, etc. It's an interesting, unconventional anime. |

| Back to topic, NOW. I have just read, that there will be an OVA, after the anime has finished. As the Sidecharacter (Yui) usually gets dumbed or makes place I would appreciate it, if they would make an alternative ending out of it, just to give Yui her chance to confess finally. ( Yui and Hachiman would match better than him and Yukinon, imho. With her he will at least be able to change his attitude a bit) |
| I thought it was clear that the post was meant to be taken as over the top. reversereality got it right. Hell, part of the appeal of the show for me is my loner past and my still-existent bitter, loner mentality. And yes, I think that the constant, automatic assumption that anyone in this show isn't a loner or a weirdo is a "bitch" or an "asshole" is definitely indicative of something within the audience. The main character walks around pretty much constantly looking down on everyone around him, and I'm supposed to think that this is perfectly acceptable behavior? It's treated as perfectly acceptable behavior by the audience, so what does that tell me about them? Sure, I was that guy once, and then I woke up one day and thought to myself: "Hey, maybe the reason everyone is a "bitch" and a "dick" to me is because they can tell what I think about them and they don't like it any more than I like it when they look down on me." The main heroine literally uses the "I'm so pretty that no one likes me" excuse. In my experience, the prettiest girl is usually the one with the most friends, not the least. Maybe she should try being an ugly, fat cow with bad acne and see how that works out for her. And that is part of the problem of this show and it's fan-base. Every single reason for the MC's being loners is glossed over as being the result of some good attribute. Yukino isn't ostracized because she's kind of an elitist bitch. No, she's ostracized because she's too pretty and smart and everyone is just jealous or in love with her. Hachiman isn't a loner because he's a self-pitying, elitist asshole, no it's because he's too perceptive. He's too smart. He's too sharp-witted for all those dumb-ass popular kids. Nowhere do I state that Sagami's behavior is tolerable. But I'm also not going to condemn her (and by extension those real people who are like her) for being concerned with the things that most high-school girls are concerned with. When I dared point out that Hayama is a really nice guy with a lot of good attributes, I was told to justify every assertion I made. The reason why he does profile and label people with accuracy is to find his way out of a "deadly" situation by adapting. It's like, "oh, it's this type of person, I know what to do now." If my memory serves me right, that was around episode 3, was it not? Back then, there wasn't much material on Hayama, so him being a nice guy was just as valid assumption as him merely being one of Yumiko's bootlickers. We didn't know as much as we do now about him. The same thing is happening with Haruno. We know that she is a scary person with a powerfull facade but we have yet to know her true nature, intentions or whose side she's on. I'm afraid you are mistaken. The reason why Hachiman is a loner has been explained in the very first episode, by non other than Yukino. (FFF subs) Yukino: "Based on what you've said, it seems that you're a loner because of your rotten personality and sour attitude." Which Hachiman does not deny. Carrying on when Shizuka-Sensei joins the conversation: Shizuka: Looks like you're having trouble rehabilitating Hikigaya here. Yukino: It's because he doesn't recognize his own problem. Hachiman: That's not what it is. What's with all this telling me to change? I don't want anyone telling me who to be. [...] Why can't you just accept who someone is now and was in the past? Yukino: Because then... Because then no worries would get resolved. No one would be saved. As you can see, the series never denied anything. Hachiman's problem has been clearly pointed out in the very beginning. And since Hachiman and Yukino's personalities are like two peas in a pod, it's pretty obvious that her not having any friends has the same reason. Her personality issues play just as big a role in her loneliness as the envy of her peers. It's not like anyone is denying the main character's flaws. They are, in fact, so obvious that they do not need to be pointed out. Nobody said those flaws are a good thing (entertaining? hell yeah. but by no means commendable). They are merely not being discussed because everyone agrees tacitly that the character development will take care of that part. Those two do not look down on the entirety of the world. They never said or thought anything genuinely bad about Saika or Shizuka, for example. He tried to engage in conversations, exchange phone numbers, join events etc. His attitude was completely different from how he acts now. Yet he has been ostracized, he has been called gross, given weird nicknames, ignored, rejected over and over, given the role of 'tree' in a grade school play, as the only guy in his class, he was denied a dance partner and when he went out to play, he had to play by himself. Are you saying that, considering all that, his bitterness is unjustified? That he's wrong for being wary around people, keep their distance from them, afraid of being hurt again? Is the attitude of Hachiman and Yukino the reason they were alone at the beginning of the series? Definitely. Are they the reason they were bullied ever since grade school? Hell no. Is that attitude acceptable? I think that it is, in fact, acceptable. It's not the way you should live if you seek happiness and it's not the proper way to treat your peers. But all those elitist thoughts - Yukino and Hachiman keep them to themselves as long as they are not provoked. They never do anything malicious. Heck, they put their skills to good use and help people as part of their club activities. So as long as they don't do anything bad, I will find their attitude acceptable. The only ones who suffer from it are themselves. |

I've seen bullying happen, and it's not always the fault of the bullied, but if you are bullied in every single situation you get into, by every single person you meet... you need to start taking a look at yourself and how you may be causing that to happen. Before he can change, he has to understand in what way he has to change, realize the flaws of his reasoning, acknowledge that this kind of change is neccessary and truly believe it's the right thing to do. So before he realizes all these things, any kind of change is pointless. The initiative must originate from him, not from someone else. On a side note, though this kind of change is essential for his future, it would probably, at the same time, make him less interesting as a character. Also, the show would be pretty much over by that time, which is a bit sad ^^ |

Sagami is like the generic cool girl that doesn't do anything ay all lol. Pretty good episode overall, but next episode is when shit will really happen. |

| I just cannot understand Sagami's hate. She's pathetic, but you don't have to act negative towards her (I have to find someone who points both qualities and flaws about her) and I personally like her despite her stupidness of her work as a chairwoman, I hope next episode will resolve her problems so that the school festival will work nicely and Sagami will grow deeply as a person. |

I have heard somewhere that there's an anon who point out that Sagami have her own mentality and her reasons why she acts like that in the original novel. |

I believe MisaoFan's point is everyone's being prejudicial towards the character who haven't got enough focus or depth to be hated this much. I'm that's what's the story wants but, let's face it, she's more realistic that any of the characters present in the story. |

I never met girl like her who would need atention so badly, so I can't say if she is realistic or not, but truth is fictional characters in most times has some hidden depth which can't be said about lot of 3D. So I guess that's why she might be considered this way at least. Also when Myura made her appearence, I didn't realy had problem consider her having good side, but I don't think Sagami were writen this way, though I don't realy care if I am mistaken. |
