THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow, I am surprised nobody has made a topic for this movie. Anyway, what did you all think? Personally I loved it! At first I was expecting it to be based off of the first Animal Crossing game only, but no, it had themes from "Wild World" too. I also really enjoyed the remix versions of the Animal Crossing themes--the K.K. Slider song was awesome. I never played the "City Folk" version, so I am unsure if it had some of those themes as well. But since it had the Wii symbol in the credits, I am assuming it did. All in all, it was a very good movie that was true to the source, and it had many good elements: joy, laughter, sadness, sincerity. I loved it! 9/10 from me! |

I loved how it somehow magically managed to stay to the plot of a very plotless game, and yet be so fun to watch. I was never bored. And i liked the toned down art style, it matches the game more. i can't believe I didnt find out about it until today. |

It's so cute! I really love the game and I was surprised to find out (yesterday) that a movie existed. It's awesome to see in the movie everything you see in the game! And it was surprising how well they managed to fit a story inside the town. |

Ooooh, I watched this a couple years or so back but I only just remembered that it existed. I don't think I finished the end though (truncated youtube uploads...) but I should get around to it because for what it's worth, it was a very entertaining movie. |

I just watched this movie and it's great. I didn't know it existed until recently, I had to see it since I enjoyed the games. I loved Buke (aka Rosie the Cat), she was so cute. Her smile reminded me of Chikorita (Pokemon) for some reason. I wonder who was her seiyuu, it's the only one not listed in the character list. |

I'm really rather shocked with how much I liked the movie! I loved the original Animal Crossing for GC as well as Wild World on the DS, so the homage to the music of the games really took me back to some good times! :) Yu was an awesome character if I do say so myself |

It covered so much, in a little time. It did it all in a beautiful fashion, too! Even the music was perfectly accurate! |

I Have to say I LOVED the movie more than the game itself. The way the movie ended it sounded as if there will be a second movie, does anyone know if there is a second or will be?? The story and characters were geat, I enjoyed K.K.'s Rythem and the "Cherry Pie" reference. The Able Sisters, the Museum with Fuuta(Blathers, my favorite character), Hopper when he is 'fishing', and the pitfall scene. All of the townsfolk were so happy and cute, but Tortimer, Redd, and Phyllis really surprised me: I never knew Tortimer was that desperate, Phyllis was too nice, and Redd just made me laugh with the chest full of slingshots xD. A movie with a wide mix of emotions; and the characters showing the emotions with the wind, flowers, and etc were also a great addition. Great Movie :D 1,000/10. |

I didn't even know this existed until now, I remember playing the games for GameCube and the original DS. I'll have to watch it when I have time. |

Such a cute movie. Why is everything about Animal Crossing so adorable? I wish I knew about this earlier. The music coming directly from the games was great <3 |

Surprisingly fun. Really comfy movie if you played at least one of the games. Too bad that I only played New Leaf, since this one seems to be based on Wild World. I still got the most out of the game references since it's all in New Leaf as well. It made me feel like playing New Leaf again, so that's a plus too! |

That was really enjoyable, enjoyment wise it's definitely an 8/10 for me, and it looks really nice too with a colorful setting. It's just a show about the fun every day life. Now if I am being more critical about it, the entire movie felt a bit disjointed transitioning from one event to another, I feel like it had skipped a part to be honest, and it didn't just happen once or twice.. I also wonder about the world building, because the country was called animal country, Ai and Yuu are humans so.. yea I wonder if it's the norm for animals to live with humans, and what do the humans eat? Don't they eat meat? Wouldn't that be awkward if that's the case? But if they were to explain it all, the movie would lose it's child-like charm, so it's fine the way it is now. It still got me curious tho. I heard there's more games that haven't been adapted? I sure hope it gets a movie sequel. Ai hasn't even bake her own cherry pie yet, so I want to at least see that. |

Great movie, full of nostagia. The KK Slider performce was amazing and so are the villagers. I miss playing Animal Crossing knowing I abandoned my town few years ago. |

Honestly this is the closest an anime has ever come to representing a game. The kid in random outfits all the time was a perfect representation of the player. |

This is my first time to watch a movie based on game (w/c I play now) it's more on Wild World version though. I'm glad to see most of the NPCs but the cast villagers are so few!! I'm excited to see Bob but he's not here >,< I know Marshall is new character (New Leaf and I'm not sure if Bob is already on Wild World). I want to see Tangy, Ankha, Lolly (yes.. I love cat villagers).. maybe they're not the original but I'm disappointed to see few of them. I loveeee Rosie and Margie though. Rosie is sooo cute here, I love it. Also, dog villagers like Goldie, Madie, Biskit etc. They're already in Wild World but they're not here :( I really love to hear the AC OST, also KK sing in animalese, I thought he will sing a Japanese lyrics version of his song. I love OST of AC so much.. it makes me so emotional :( I love the movie but it feels lacking (especially on the casting) I hope they will make another AC movie. 8/10 |

I didn't play the original movie game, but I play New Horizons, so my mood was affected. The only thing that is confusing is the choice of animals, but okay, I saw my favorite characters there. For fans just, for the rest - just cute without meaning. |
May be some anime? |

I really enjoyed this Animal Crossing movie & I also really liked how they had the villagers use their catchphrases & everything else they included. |

I was excited to return to this movie after forgetting everything about it in the 7 years since I first watched it. Now that I'm on the flip side I can perfectly see why. However, I can't bring myself to dislike this. Animal Crossing is a series that has managed to lose its soul amidst the burgeoning success of New Leaf and New Horizons, so it was nice to return to a point in time where the series still had heart. The most apparent strength of the movie has to be the art direction. It seems pretty obvious in retrospect, but the simplistic designs of the villagers make the transition to an anime art style pretty seamlessly. Rosie, Whitney, Apollo, Brewster and Ai look the best, though I'm also quite fond of how Pelly, Celeste and K.K. Slider look. The backgrounds are also pretty exceptional despite their simplicity, especially with how they changed during the seasons/time of day. I almost wish the movie went at a faster pace just so we could see more of the village itself because it definitely manages to capture the whimsy of playing the game as a kid. Although I'm usually opposed to the slice of life genre, I think there's a lot of untapped potential as far as an adaptation of Wild World is concerned. Maybe it's because it was an awkward bridging point between Population Growing and City Folk, but there's a fragility to WW which hasn't been present in any of the other games. The moments in this movie which capitalise on that are some of the strongest parts, but there's still room for so much more development. Whitney's relationship with Apollo was the most intriguing aspect of the movie to me, so it was unfortunate that it wasn't expanded on at all (though the closure it received was quite nice). I'd also say that the Able Sisters should have received some development on account of being the only characters with backstories, but it's not like the way you go about learning their story in-game is particularly well suited for a movie, so I'll give it a pass. By far my favourite aspect of this movie has to be the soundtrack, with the arranged version of K.K. Bossa being the obvious high point. Although there are K.K. songs I enjoy more than Bossa (Cruisin', Jazz and Two Days Ago to name a few), it fits the general tone of the movie surprisingly well. It's interesting that Nintendo haven't written lyrics for any of the other songs, since I found myself enjoying the lyrics to the song as well. The entire film could do with being half an hour shorter, even if it wouldn't perform as well for having to go straight to video. Overall I'd say this anime is about a 5/10, though it could become one of my guilty pleasure movies. Wild World is the only aspect of my childhood that I have a vivid memory of and watching this reminded of the many fantasies I used to have while playing the game as a kid (all of which related to murdering Resetti and marrying Bunnie). |

Discovered this because a Vtuber mentioned there's a movie of it recently. Really like the artstyle and recognized a familiar voice, there's no real depth to the story, everything is simplified slice of life just how the game is but is a cozy movie to watch near Christmas. |

I just watched the dub, and I had no idea it was a fan-dub! They all did pretty well capturing the attitude of each of the AC characters. I enjoyed the iyashikei vibe, tho it's definitely for a muuuuch younger audience and I felt bored after awhile lol. The quality of each dubbed voice varied, so sometimes that took me out of the experience. |
