As for God/Kami "crap", don't forget in Japan Shintoism there are hundreds if not thousands of deities, and it is easy to expect there will be some manga that will use the Shinto theme. Anyway, be careful when you use information from MAL which is sometimes not detailed enough, perhaps because of the limitation of the format (for example, there is no way to explain in more details how important each category under the "genres" section plays in the manga/anime), which may lead to misconception. As far as I know, the heroine indeed changes into a male sometimes but she changes into a female more often than not. So it is NOT as if "gender bending" is the key theme for this manga. Anyway, the manga is drawn by a female so it has a bit of shoujo touch in the art and style but the manga is serialized in a shounen magazine (Young Ace) so I guess it can be called a manga that is more gender-neutral than the standard shounen. One thing I particularly like about this manga is how much attention it pays to portray the surroundings and neighborhood of the Fushimi town which is in the suburb of Kyoto. Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |
