Great movie, it did not disappoint.

That was awesome, oh how we weep for Goro's right hand, it has been missed all this time. A nice little spot in between the first and second seasons.

Great movie. Reminds me of how much I missed the old Majors.

When I first saw Arthur, I thought that was Gibson Jr.

One thing that bugged me a little was the sound effect with Goro's shoulder. Sounded like he broke it ten times.

I'm really surprised how it's scoring considerably lower than any of the seasons, it's certainly better than S5. Everything that exemplifies Major was done perfectly.

Great movie, really get what happened now, I had the impression that the team made him play to his limit, but now I know what really happened.

It'd be nice if we could see those characters again though like Kinoshita, Koga+sister.

I'm not one to exagerate, but this was probably the best anime movie i ever saw. It's just like Solanio said: "Everything that exemplifies Major was done perfectly."
Not only that, the execution was gorgeous: awesome use of an awesome musical score, gorgeous fluid animation, perfect pacing, likeable "new" characters and a really important point: it can be watched as a movie on it's own. Everything that someone new to the series need to know to get into Goro and his situation is there in a very intelligent way.

The first moments of the movie killed it for me. Damn you Shigeno, messing Momoko up like that. That lame name was plastered all over the movie too; give me back my Honda.

Only good part was seeing someone deadball Sigeno. Too bad he's a loser also.

After 5 seasons I finally watched this movie. I enjoyed it, the later seasons fail again by not reusing some characters from this movie. 8/10 Not the best, but better than most Major seasons.

Better than first season in many aspects but with its own flaws too.

  • just what kind of idiot won't notice Goro's injury?!?!
  • just how stupid can Goro be to go as far as destroying his showder in order to win just a single game?!?!
  • just what kind of a superhuman must be Goro to be able to pitch oh so well after making a mess of his showder?!?!
  • 5th grader Goro is pitching at 120kmh...yeah,sure

1.Ok,I can bare with that...barely though.
2.With this,I can't!When it come to hands,I have plenty of experience breaking mine(right collar bone, left hand, left wrist).Every time he threw and the nasty sound came out...arrrr...very unpleasant feeling.
3.People have their limits.Their bodies have limits! It's nice to see someone chalenging them and going beyond them but what's impossible is impossible.
4.This was also a problem during S1...there's no way a 4th-5th grader could pitch that fast.AND WHAT THE HELL IS WITH ONLY THROWING FASTBALLS?!?!

Man,I seriously wonder about watching the rest of Major.
Well,Momoko was a big plus...when she told Shigeno that there would be a new family member I was like:
    "AKACHAN DAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
And Goro's new possible love interest is also very cute.

i enjoyed this movie better them some of the seasons lol

"I am the bone of my sword,
Steel is my body and Fire is my blood,
I have created over a thousand blades,
Unknown to Death,
Nor known to Life,
Have withstood pain to create many weapons,
Yet, those hands will never hold anything,
So as I pray, unlimited blade works"

Well ChaosLegion, according with Goro's way of life, there are some games that you must really give everything you got. That's what he did. That's why Goro is superhuman. :)

The movie was good, but i still miss the well-developed drama from the first half of S1. And i think i'm gonna miss it all over the Major saga as well.
"A lesser man might call it a day and bask in the echoing voices of cheer and celebration. A lesser man might delight in the moment, knowing he's the ultimate hero, a benevolent Big Brother to all and an inspirational light of hope in the darkest of times.

But Superman is not a lesser man. He renews his vigorous patrol of our world for wherever the battle for trust and justice must be fought, Superman will be there.

Damn Goro, you really are an idiot. Making the same mistake twice, I get why but damn. So if he busts his left shoulder will he do the same thing?

I like the movie, but it felt somewhat rushed. That's why I only gave the movie a 6/10, good but rushed and we saw Goro already make this mistake. This time it cost him dearly.

Was an alright movie. I thought the match was a bit lacking in terms of baseball - it was the typical powerful foreigner battery vs the japanese battery kind of fight. Obviously, Goro won... I liked seeing Toshi, Komori and others even if it was a glimpse. 7/10

I'm glad I finally got around to this instead of brushing it off as a side story. A nice way to come back to Major one last time. The time gap as to what happened to Goro's right arm is finally filled. I have to say that it was very sad but also very beautiful in context to the rest of the series.

I thought Arthur was Gibson at first glance. Was kind of hoping it would've been. Still, that pitching battle was intense, even after watching the whole series those little league throws were something else. I love how they emphasized Goro's hat coming off on his strong pitches, it reminds me of...well I'm sure anyone who's seen the rest can guess.

The character designs were very different but no complaints there. Momoko looked especially different, like a character from Ladies vs Butler. I wasn't really a fan of some voices, especially Megumi. It was just too bland and hard to stomach at times.

I liked the tidbits of quotes during the credits at the end. They were simple but expressed my admiration for Goro's strong will perfectly. 7.5/10 to this movie, once again going to miss this series for real now.

I cringed every time there was the sound of bones. Sports should not be exemplify playing through injury. >__<

But the determination and passion was real, which is what I appreciate. Thankfully he's still young so he can become a southpaw with training, but really...

Ugh, I knew he was going to throw out his shoulder the second I saw him start thinking "Hey my shoulder doesn't hurt when I pitch anymore" . . . So glad the movie included showing how he went to left-handed pitching.

Anyways, liked the movie, surprised this wouldn't be covered in the show itself (Seeing as how it seems pretty relevant), glad that I started watching this before 2006, would have probably been extremely frustrating to go from Season one to Season two without having seen this first.

God i keep cringing every time his shoulder made the CROCKCRACKCROCKCRECK sound shit that must have hurt like hell.

And is it just me but listening to koga megumi was painful as hell too, her voice is just so freaking dull...

But overall its a good movie, really really nice, just a shame that goro didnt get to see toshi or komori or the others.

I didn't watch this when I was originally watching the show but it's nice to have a little extra Major to come back to. It wasn't as good as the main series but it dealt with that craving I had for some more Major.

Awesome movie! I had watched the first 20-30 minutes back in February and then graduate school got insane. The window to watch the rest of the movie has been up since then on my iPad and today I finished it.. what a great damn film!

It does get cheesy at times, but I was so invested in Goro that those final pitches toward the end made me cringe like a bastard! Cannot recommend this enough, people.

For those people who say it isn't possible for 5th grade Goro pitching a 120kmh fastball, this is a video of a news story about a 6th grader who tops out at 79mph. So ha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e94bVb3p06o

Holy cow that shoulder has to be a mess... cant listen to the cracking sound anymore.

Awesome movie, got some of the sentimental things from season 1 back. It was nice to see Goro playing baseball again, being the hero of the day once more and to have another chick in his harem (you know hat I mean ;) ). Really like the characters and the pacing. Off to season 2!

Oh, btw. after finishing the movie I just checked the beginning of the movie again. Southpaw! Great change! I really like that plot. Theres always something happening. And those things are challenging Goro again, giving him new motivation. Great thing hes introducing himself now as southpaw pitcher and right hander batter. Thats the reason why he introduced himself several times during the movie as right hander pitcher.

I love the whole series, how things are changing and everyone is moving on.

Just too sad that Goro didnt see Toshi.
My only regret is having regrets!

I'am still thinking that it's stupid mess up your own career of baseball and not even that...your own body for a game that not even define anything, just a kids league.

Even though he restored his life on baseball, I'am believe it has no sense at all what he done.
But I guess this gets much more interest in Major and how surpass life's problems.

though i only watched the 1st season, since the story located between the 1st and the 2nd i watched it, there were some unexplained scenes but instead confusing me it actually make me more hip continuing the anime.
from 1st season perspective, the movie has everything that major have - good story, good characters development and the animation aside from character design was really impressive, though that the movie have a feeling of a lot of episodes combined, the disadvantage of that is the fact that i didn't get a break from scenario to scenario, though to be very enjoyed i felt like "i need a break". and though to not started the 2nd season yet, i get the strong feeling what they wanted to do to goro, but beside that, the movie is continuing the feeling of "enjoying baseball".

(watching after S4) I can see what they wanted to do with this movie: a film showing how a Major season plays out, but in a smaller scale and relatively self-contained, actually almost like a recap, despite covering different events. Nonetheless at the same time it pretty much feels worth skipping.

The series itself already manages to make you understand what happened to him in Kyushu, and it really didn't introduce anything surprising in that front (perhaps the fact he actually managed to win the game of his injury).

The mangaka actually did a spin-off volume that published during the screening of the movie, which shows that while not entirely canon, it's still not in the realm of 100% anime original material. But that should clear things up to people in this thread wondering why these characters never show up again in the main series.

As a rather fun fact in the re-animated scenes of the last match of S1, I noticed they put the number 2 in Shimizu's jersey, while she always wore number 9 in the series (and that game too).

I enjoyed the movie. Altho i find the main match kinda boring for some reason. I don't know why. Probably because Goro was carrying the whole game with his injury. I wish Koga or Kinoshita lecture him at some point like Toshi or Komori.

25:13 I see the animators had some fun animating this movie.

Great movie, I felt nostalgic seeing young Goro although tragic and kinda stupid he permanently injured his right shoulder at age 10 just to win this match with the dumb coach not noticing it until too late. Well at least they showed in future time he's now a southpaw

If Goro was only in 5th grade when he broke his shoulder in this movie, then doesn't he have more than enough time (1-1.5 years, providing that he religiously stays away form any intensive shoulder activities which would be very hard) for his right shoulder to completely heal and then continue throwing right arm? But taking the effort to switch, instead of being bored for another year, to left arm was probably worth it in terms of selection chances so not complaining.
