ah, I really lke how those ridebacks race. It's deffinately nice to look at.
I'm just a litle worried about the story as I do usually dislike Sudden-Genius-Who-Can-Beat-Anybody Characters... and than I wonder how that political backround will be used...
Well, we'll see.
At least my eyes love it already ;D yeah!

Pretty good episode, but I still think the ridebacks look pretty stupid. Why did they have to give them arms...

And "spread legs form" lol. Bad call if they were trying to sound cool.

HAHAHAHAHAHA yea no, what are you 12? grow up, please.

Also I think the designs are actually quiet Practical and make sense and look good with out being over the top, the arms are not only used for balance and control they can be used for cornering and tight maneuvers, like say grabbing on to some thing and whipping the vehicle around a corner. Remember these are military vehicles as well, the arms and hands can be used to switch out standard personal weaponry. A solider can't fire and drive at the same time, so why not have the RideBack do it for you. and it can also carry wounded or equipment as well. There are thousands of reasons to have arms on it. THis isn't Gurren Lagann no super weapons and crazy mechs in this show.

It's a legitimate criticism - they definitely should have:
a) Asked an english speaker about the term they were using
b) Made it clear that they were trying to make it sound dirty
c) Not used english in the first place

And the arms don't make any sense. If you want it to have guns, you mount guns on it. You don't need an arm to fire the gun, for heaven's sake.

As for "whipping around corners" and such - how in the world is the rider supposed to achieve that with a couple levers and handlebars? It's just mind boggling to me how you could achieve "extend arm, grab, pull inward, and let go" while still driving the thing. And that's just one command! What if you want a slightly different angle? What if you want to raise the hands in the air? What if you want to use both hands at the same time? You need an entirely new set of controls for each command!

It just doesn't seem well-thought-out to me. It's like they added arms and gave the vehicles personalities just so that they could pick up fans of the mecha genre.

It's anime, gundam's are piloted by 2 joys sticks with 5 buttons and 4 pedals,For all we know the arms are on their own AI, and under stand variable data, and have anticipation, or maybe they control threw nerve impulses detected threw the wrist band. Who knows it's artistic freedom, sounds like your just over analyzing.

Mecha in general is pretty illogical, but I can buy it as long as I don't have to constantly see the ridiculous controls. And I mean, come on. Developing A.I. just so that you can ride a fancy motorcycle... are you kidding me? It's not like it's going to be that great of a weapon in the first place. One tank would mow over fifty of the things, easy.

You're probably right, I'm over-analyzing the whole thing. But I wouldn't do it if they weren't so in-your-face with the things, you know? It's like... the focus of the series is these absurd looking vehicles. It's going to be like chocolate cake iced with mustard for the whole series long.

I'm not sure how they are going to bring in the GGP, which I think will be the weakest aspect of the whole show but we'll see. So far so good, although I'm not a huge fan of racing shows I'll finish this one.

True, they should have asked someone or used the term "split form," but if you're Japanese watching this in Japan, you probably won't notice the unintended innuendo. Different cultures will always interpret different things in different ways, I suppose.

Well, the believability of that depends who you are. If you believe highly intelligent AI will definitely be developed in the future, then it's not really too unbelievable. If the vehicles were developed to drive in automatic mode with the AI doing all the work, perhaps the maneuver would have been done by the AI. Since they were both in manual mode, I suppose the AI performs less of a contribution and the rider has to maintain balance and such. Of course they could have incorporated enough detail into the show to explain how each function works, but that seems like an unnecessary complex addition. I guess, the best answer is, use your imagination :)

-HOLY SHIT-

Haha, I actually said that out loud while watching Rin pull that last maneuver around the bend. Funny, in the first episode, I wasn't sure about this anime. "Ride Back," a vehicle that lets you ride on the back of a humanoid motorcycle. Just sounded really dumb at first. But holy crap, this might be one of the best shows this season. Very nice!

Agreed that RideBack has a good chance to be the dark horse of this season, with its more than decent art/animation, and somewhat refreshing premise of ballet+mecha. can't wait for the political plotline promised in the synopsis to begin and prevent this show from degenerating into a race-of-the-week derivative of the cliched school anime genre.

I realli hope that will handled well though, or it can still turn into an epic fail.. don't disappoint me

I watched the second episode last night, and I adored loved this episode! I am so interested in this series. The music, animation, quality, and plot were great so far. This series had to be the best series even I have seen in a while. I really hope the director better not screw up on this great series.

I really like this anime
The animation art is beautiful
Every Episode I wonder how fast its over.

But I cant imagine how Rin should become a rebel soldier or something like that ,Fuego is no fighting vehicle ,its a better Motobike not more.

The first.. To mix motorbike racing with ballet, while having a motorcycle design based on the Macross Valkyrie modes, sort of. Aside from that, this is actually a shoujo anime. Not bad!

Awesome. Episode.

Actually, when she fell in the water, I thought she was just going to pop back out... XD But the way they had it was more realistic and better.

Why is Rin's hair always messy looking though? As a dancer... I thought she'd always try to have it perfect... or something... o_O And okay, although I love the series so far, that girl who's obsessed with Rin kind of annoys me, haha...

Action, animation and editing was great (beyond great, even - you could really feel the energy), but the writing was pretty subpar. First Rin was like "PROTAGONIST POWERS ACTIVATE" and then Tamayo was like "BITCH POWERS ACTIVATE" and then Rin was like "BALLET POWERS ACTIVATE" and then Tamayo was like "OOPS KARMA". I know, 90% of all anime plots, but then, Sturgeon's Law.

And goddamn is there ANY way to make Suzuri SHUT UP.

So awesome, and so exciting to watch. From the start to the end. Exquisite ED as well.

And I spotted a suspension monorail!~ I have such a strange fascination for them, every time I see one it feels so futuristic, yet many have been built and gone in the past centuries. (This also counts for flyovers in my case, many agree on them being concrete monstrosities, but I love the sheer beauty of this piece of architecture infrastructure.

Oh yes, definitely one of the few shows lately that really makes me want all the episodes back-to-back.

Mostly fits in. the hand-drawn animation is a little off, and at a lower fps (i think. Don't quote me on that.)

Integrating her other skills in Ride Back, that was a good episode!
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
