I thought this episode went to crap at the end.... They were all over the place. Below are several items that just made no damn sense...
1. First they show the boy in the hospital and tell him the little girl died, but doesn't seem to be a huge deal... So I'm like...ah damn, that's awfully casual...how sad, poor little girl.
2. Next they have a scene where Tsuzuki is talking to Hijiri by a lake or something... The whole conversation seems kind of odd...like a dream or something. So I'm like...ok, well Hijiri is just going his separate way now, and saying bye...
3. Two seconds later, Hijiri has vanished....and standing there at the lake (same spot, etc..) is Tsuzuki and Hisoka instead. I'm like...ok was it a dream or was he imagining that..??? Was Hijiri never actually there?
4. THEN....Tsuzuki even asks Hisoka "Did Hijiri go already" and Hisoka tells him "I told you. You should never be casual about making promises." Well, the promise he made was to protect Hijiri...so now I'm like, ok...so both the little girl and Hijiri died obviously because he says "You're right. I wasn't able to keep my promise". Right? But why did they have the hospital scene with Hijiri when he woke up and they told him it was over and that the little girl died???? Why would Hisoka make that comment about the promise RIGHT after Hijiri just vanishes with some dream like magic sound... Tsuzuki continues talking about how he failed to protect those two and how he's killed people, etc... Making it sound even more like they died. So, by now I'm like WTF is going on right now....they need to make their minds up! Are these kids dead or not dammit?!
5. So next they decide to have him play the concert, playing the Devil's Trill beautifully, which no one should be able to play really (per their description of how difficult - I mean prior he could only play it perfectly because he was possessed or whatever). AND...the damn little girl is there with Tsuzuki and Hisoka....so I'm like...ok, she lived. OR..is all of this still a dream?? WTF is happening here.
6. THEN after the concert there are flowers, which they lead you to believe is from Tsuzuki to Hijiri. Perhaps he dropped them off earlier when he, the little girl, and Hisoka were watching the concert, and when looking at the card with no name on it...Hijiri even says "I see. He did come". Two seconds later Hijiri is standing outside of the concert hall staring up at the sky, like he's sad or something and says "You didn't come to see me...because you knew that we would meet again." WHO THE F#$% is he talking about...Tsuzuki...the little girl (BOTH of which were at the damn concert by the way)....
Anyway, when all is said and done...I'm assuming what is supposed to have happened is the girl died and the boy lived. Maybe they took the dead girl's spirit to the concert and the person he mentioned that "didn't come" was the little girl...because he didn't know she was there "in spirit"?? BUT...whatever the hell actually happened the point is they did a real SHIT job telling the story. They made it as convoluted and confusing as possible...it was just VERY poorly done in my opinion. It's like the writer was drunk at this part and forgot what the hell he was doing. Any high points this episode had were killed for me at the end while I sat through the last few minutes with one contradiction after another thinking WTF is going on right now.....waiting for them to clear things up, but never do...
Anyway....just awful. I like this show, all episodes have been fine...first part of this episode was fine (even the tricking the devil part I was ok with - although that's a HUGE stretch there..LOL), but GEEEEESH, the end is a hot mess.... |
