Well, this was certainly a nice surprise. The story was better than what I expected and the whole movie has a nice flow to it. Too bad they had to use some still images, but it doesn't take too much away from the movie as a whole. Old but gold would be too much of a compliment, but silver will have to do.

I enjoyed this, i don't know why, but it had this 'zelda-esque' feel to it...
Moog was epic, and hirada was annoying ._.

Wow. This was pretty good. I really enjoyed it.
I really liked Hilda too. Too bad the villain was forgettable.

Yeah the depth of Hilda's character is the strong point, along with some nice set design. 3 years in production! The villain did need some more screentime but at least he looked cool and menacing when we saw him.

I'm still impressed by small things like candlelight effects, perspective and motion, the intense opening violence and ace music, but sad they had to revert to still frames midway through.

The animation was surprisingly decent considering how old it is, even if there were a lot of stills when there was a lot of action going on. It definitely had a classic folk tale feel to it and I enjoyed the development with Hilda's character.

An important milestone in the history of anime. It's a good movie, albeit incomparable to the majority of Disney's movies from the same period.

I watched this in light of Isao Takahata's death. Hard to not call it lacking in animation. I feel like Shadow of the Colossus might have been inspired by some of these action scenes.

I wonder what happened to Drago, I really wished he got punished somehow after conspiring to take over the village! Chiro is such an adorable creature who had more sense than Hilda.

In IMHO I didn't want Hilda to live after all she did to try and kill Horus, she kinda did it for herself to live longer. I wouldn't blame the demon lord too much on the situation, after all he is what he is or was. Although she changed at the end, I felt she should have lost something since she didn't die, but I guess it is one those let's all be merry in the end. Yuck!

5/10.

This would had been deserves the watch for just the historical value if the film was just hour long but the pacing becomes very uneven during the 2nd half and hearing "Hilda!" like 100 times gets super annoying along her selfish characteristics alone destroy the whole movie's fun factor as started getting so much screentime than Horus.

Otherwise despite many annoying narratives it was the curiosity of how the 60s big budget animation would played out just hooked me to this movie mostly were a surprise in good and bad way (whats up with the still shots when it wasn't suppose to happen?! lol).

Oh and so many insert songs! yeah that really makes you think they struggle to push the movie's length to 90 minute and the songs were perfectly skippable.

What an amazing movie, perhaps the best anime of the 60s! I can't believe it doesn't have a higher score relative to other anime of the time period. Toei followed Horus with a bunch of really bad movies throughout the 70s.

Have the users upvoting these anime not seen Horus too? Even Toei's older movies are better, but you wouldn't know that from their scores.
