To avoid the some of the worst shit if done incorrectly, FILLERS, I hope its a new experiment by making 13, take a 1 season break, next 13 episodes, take 1 season break, next 13 and so forth.

I too was wondering why only 13 episodes, if this is something new in order to gain more sales or if they are just releasing this much in order to get more fans for the manga. The reason I paused on the manga was because it got an anime in the first place. I really how that there is a second season in there.

There are anime we knew of that was getting a second season upon its first season release Fate/zero and Jormungand which was really great. I just hope that judging from the first episode of Code:breaker they would continue to a great job and do the manga justice of how good it is.

There seems to be a recent trend that's being done quite often now. I've noticed a ton of anime where they stop and release a new season later. I really hope that's the case with C:B! :O I really don't see why they would stop at merely 13, especially with a manga series that's almost at 200 chapters now.

Why would they do something like that? It doesn't make sense to me.

I hope it's not a " check the sales before continuing " scheme.

You know how most of the mainstream anime like Bleach, Naruto etc have a lot of filler episodes that aren't even in the manga they could use this strategy to avoid that.

They could also use the money that filler writers get paid, to increase the budget for animation quality.

I really hope not, but I'm still hoping it does good either way.

Well that i can understand but don't they only make fillers when the anime gets to close to the manga? code breaker anime just started and the manga has like nearly 200 chapters so it seems pointless to use this strategy for this anime.

Personally I like this idea.

Plus, I think that's why Bleach ended. The anime was getting dangerously close the manga and they ran out of ideas for filters, so they decided to just end the anime.

That seems like that's a viable reason for stopping at 13. The fact that this anime just started while there are nearly 200 chapters would mean that there wouldn't need to be any fillers for a long time.

On a side note about episode 2,

I don't get that either. It does seem like the storyline between Rei and Sakura was fairly true to the manga and then all of a sudden they throw a Yuuki vs. Hitomi battle in there when neither character should've been introduced yet (not even close). I also think (but I can't remember exactly) that Nenene and Reiki should've been introduced by now (if not, very soon).

What a very odd direction the anime is taking.

I think the anime could very well still follow the manga.

I was shocked to find out it was only going to have 13 episodes, I was hoping at least 25. (There is enough manga for it.)

Anyways ,
I hope there will be more seasons. >_<

Filler aside it does seem like the animation quality for these shows really goes to hell once they're forced to release regularly for a long enough period of time. Season by season would lend itself to a better overall product in numerous ways.

You have a good point there. As long as they stick to the story and keep the animation quality high, then season by season sounds like a really good idea now.

i'm not agree that the anime will be 13 episodes only , because it's has been mentionned on website of anime and even wikipedia , or anime network not yet.
And why it's would be ? the manga is much more avanced than the anime , and there are any other animes like naruto or bleach whre they added any fillers parts in the beguinning.
sO STOP IT , and wait

it's a great strategy to avoid filelr but like others have said there's almost 200 chapters so why not a 25 episode season like bakuman

Well, even Bakuman has 3 separate seasons. A lot of shows have been doing this lately.. it's not just Medaka Box. Jorgumand, Rinne no Lagrange, and Fate/Zero are all shows that have aired this year that have done the "skip" between season one and season two. It could be that they want to see how the anime will impact sales of the manga and how the Blu-rays and DVDs will sell as well (since, generally, that is where the real money is in Japan anyhow).

There could be plenty of other reasons as well, such as production demands for the studio (given how rushed the animation feels... maybe there was just too much of an undertaking this season, who knows.), wanting to be picked up by different networks or get a different timeslot in a future season, also depending on how the first season does, it could raise the potential for advertisers significantly more if there is a break between seasons rather than a straight run as well.

Personally, I rather see them do 13 episodes and evaluate how the show is doing and any plans to continue it rather than investing a whole lot of time in a show (simply because there is enough material) to have it abruptly end when they either catch up to the manga or decide that it isn't performing well enough (hello, I'm talking about you, D. Gray Man).

If you actually look at what the OVAs are, I highly doubt they will have any impact on the actual storyline. Considering one is supposed to be 4koma theater (which is essentially gag reels), I wouldn't say these are the type of OVAs that are going to contribute or add to the actual TV anime adaptation. Their function seems to be to increase manga sales more than anything else (and why not? it makes sense to add some silly OVAs and extras once a studio has already done the character designs and backgrounds for the animation).

I think this is a good idea yet inconvenient for the hardcore fans (i mean who doesn't want to see a episode of their favorite franchise once a week for a long time). It easily gives time for the manga to move forward without the fear of the anime to catch up and keep the quality high...yet it also takes forever and it would be better in my opinion if they extended it to around 20 something episodes each time to avoid rushing things when you are so limited to just 13 episodes (I've seen it and it sucks when they force a rushed ending). But besides that i think is a good idea for tittles that are either still incomplete or that they might catch up very quickly and end like hitman reborn or D gray man (2 of my favorite shonen). So I agree with this and specially if it's a monthly tittle.
