----------------------------------------
After spending three years married to the crown prince Antoinette is eager to leave Versailles to visit Paris and to meet its people. Duke D’Orleans again takes the opportunity to try and assassinate the married couple using the aid of its subordinate Duke de Guemenee and a previous Royal commander by using firecrackers to frighten the horses. Jeanne and Rosalie, two daughters of the Prior Baron St. Remy from the Valois lineage, are introduced and are living a poor life with one of their maids (They call her mother). Jeanne meets Marquise de Brandvillier and leaves her sisters and sick mother behind. In addition a Swedish nobility called Fersen that Studied weaponry in Germany, medicine in Italy and philosophy in Switzerland has come to France in order to further refine the nobility. We will come to see the meeting of Fersen, Oscar and the Princess and their relation.

I have to say I'm enjoying every dramatic moment of this series. The villainy is just classic! People literally getting stabbed in the back, people being poisoned & framed and even a dude taking poison to keep his secrets. Classic!

Well that is the essence of everyday political life consisting of pure Machiavellism and the discard of the people and their needs

I just missed 3 years, I guess nothing but that little "fight" happened.

And what is all this of Fersen being destined, are we just forgetting André

Wow, already a timeskip of 3 years. Seem this series will cover a long period of time. I like it.

Then this episode brings us another failed attempt of Orleans trying to kill Marie Antoinette while discrediting Oscar, a good idea in theory, but Andre saved the day. With Jeanne another interesting actor has appeared on the stage, I wonder what will happen to her. My guess is she's gonna end up on Orleans side somehow.

Also they should stop making a fuss about Fersen before actually introducing him. It's somehow annoying.
I probably regret this post by now.

We don't have another evil character brewing up now, do we?
I'd like to see what happens with Jeanne now.

That Jeanne person is very interesting so far. I hope she won't turn into another du Barry.

"Mean Jeanne", gotta love that nickname. Her sister is quite the opposite. I too am very interested to see where this is going.

Wrestling fan I take it?

Except for Oscar every new character just comes across as selfish, petty and shallow. Almost evil by their narrow-mindedness. I can't wait for this "destined" encounter so things really going....wherever this is supposed to go.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought of that haha.

Here comes Axel von Fersen! I could already sense the already over the top drama to get amplified tenfold.

I'm really excited right now! At first I thought this Jeanne was just some random character to voice the misery of the people. Actually, I would've been glad because she's quite annoying and arrogant. But then they said so many new names and I looked some things up in Wikipedia. Turns out she was an actual person, too! It's so interesting to learn more about these little things that really happened befor the French Revolution. This Jeanne de Saint-Rémy is quite interesting and I hope to see more of her actions now.

Jeanne is pretty selfish. Didn't even have second thoughts about leaving her sister and sick mother behind.....

Did she just believe in Jeanne's words like....that? I mean, surely you would try to get some info and not believe blatantly in a random girl's words.

The foreshadowing by the narrator is getting a bit jittery. Fersen seems like an interesting fellow and he better be, since as of now, the Oscar-Andre-Antonette trio is the only thing of interest to me

This is definitely my favorite episode so far! A lot of story progression, character introductions, and the music was great as well. I'm loving the depictions of paris at this time.

Jeanne and DuBarry seem quite similar... NOT a good sign.

Jeanne abandoned her family to live a life in luxury,if that doesn't backfire on her one day.

firstly, after 3 years the royal couple gets to visit the capital. while Antoinette was expressing her enthusiasm (which was btw well animated no joke) i thought to myself "am i going to get just as excited when i visit japan?"- i mean just as dreamy and hopeful, innocent and tenderhearted..
know of the silence before the storm? that's how i see her joy before anguish-

secondly, Jeanne... oh Jeanne.. she is the type of girl i have bifurcated opinion about. on the one hand, envy- cause she has the courage to pursue her ambitions, but totally despise the methods she is using. fortune smiled on her this time (btw that mole on her face, i tend to associate those with a sly/cunning personality, guess it's the case here)
and same episode we see her sister Rosalie... same accident yet she didn't put any masks on to fool a royalty, continuing to worry about her ill mother... how contrasting can siblings be, sigh

France is in quite the terrible state even though the nobles probably will only see the splendour of the celebrations and stuff. Some new characters we got here, selfish Jeanne seems really similiar to du Barry in my opinion with on the other hand the selfless Rosalie being a nice girl whom I think is an actual decendant of the Valois bloodline judging by the mothers reaction.

I respect Jeanne's ambition, but if she makes it, I really hope that she remembers her family and where she came from.

The Dauphin cannot compare to a sexy swedish nobleman on the looks front so I sense trouble in the air.

wonder what the narrator was alluding to at the end of the episode ..

"If only the princess remembered all this love and praise , maybe she wouldn't have become to wicked .."

for ominous foreshadowing ..

& F Jeannie .. hopefully she dont get in the princess way ..
Once again Oscar needs to start bodying these side characters

This felt just like a set up to what is coming with these characters, I did enjoyed the narrator comments about Marie at the end lol.

Jeanne finally had someone fall for her plan which I assume she tried many times before if the first attempt showed this episode is to go by.

I wanted to finally get around to watching "Rose of Versailles" given how much of a classic it is, but wow does this series have a very rough start. I'm very glad the Du Barry and Antoinette drama is over and hope things get more palatable from here, because that didn't make the best first impression... On one hand, it's hilarious that a grown woman is beefing it out with a 14-year-old and I can give Antoinette a bit of grace given how young she is. She's learned from her mother how to feel about certain parts of life, but on the other hand, it's still annoying and makes me wish I were watching something about the French Revolution instead. I'm not as convinced as Oscar is over Antoinette being so great, which also makes me like her character a little less, too. Oscar could certainly be doing more. At least it was entertainingly bad so I guess I understand the appeal of trash reality TV now. Not something I'd want again though. I'm relieved the focus is switching outside to more than what's going on inside of the palace.

This episode combined so many perspectives so beautifully and masterfully, with none of the feeling out of place! I cannot wait to see what will happen with Jeanne and Rosaline, as well as Fersen’s future encounter with Oscar.

Three years have happened since the princess married the prince. I thought they were already in Paris, I don't know where the palace was. Introducing new characters,Jeanne and her sister whose plan for getting rich was beg to the nobles and seems like it worked. The duke doing another attack but thanks to Oscar and Andre it failed but seems like Oscar is starting to suspect about him. About what the narrator said is an spoiler of what comes next?
Also Paris and its people was very poor.
That guy in the last scene, what will he do?
