| This chapter was terrible. Griffith went from asshole to 'King Demon' Asshole. He needs to die. He should have died anyway. He made a huge mistake and got insanely handicapped because of it. I'm so salty over the chapter I barely got hyped about learning how Guts lost his arm. Although it was unnerving how it kept switching between Griffith and Casca, and Guts hacking at his arm... Also...Void, Slan, Ubik, and....CONRAD??? Dafuq |

| The way Griffith's raping Casca was contrasted with Guts chopping off his arm was unnerving beyond words. Just... wow... I can't tell if this is horrible or amazing or both. The worst part is that I don't see this as an act of lust for power over Casca (it's certainly not love) but rather an act of spite towards Guts. Casca was Griffith's tool and Guts stole her from him. It was clear before the Eclipse began that Griffith was bearing hostility towards Guts new relationship with Casca, and this is how Griffith is enacting his newfound power over both of them. fuck, man... |

Griffith used them the whole time and now he's using Casca to taunt Guts for "causing" him to sabotage his own dream. The whole thing is extremely unnerving with the betrayal and wrath all around. | Jesus, some people are so uptight about sex that they lose all mental balance and start brooding about gratuitousness or whatnot, instead of absorbing the material, keeping attention to details and letting it sink in. Rage breakouts like 'zomg rape bad' are laughable in the broader context of the manga. Regarding the chapter itself, masterful storytelling. In an earlier chapter it read: 'when suffering so profound as to make someone rip himself apart is confronted, a heart is frozen'. What's left in Griffith are malice and longing for power. Hats off, Miura's genius. |
