| I wonder how he's going to survive his final retirement, its coming up soon whether he likes it or not. If his wife keeps acting like she won't love him if he's not a boxer then he may very well overreach and kill himself trying to stay in the ring. |

| Some flashbacks about Date Eiji's past.. :-) Pretty interesting..but tragic past.. the loss of their 1st child must be rough :-( The only thing i noticed was Date looked so different during his youth haha Nice OP and ED indeed! :-) the animations seems to be getting better too |

| Saddening back story with a triumphant return. This episode has pretty much put me on Date's side for this upcoming fight. Date deserves this win. |

| Yeah, Date's quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. He seems like the most realistic Boxer Ippo will have faced so far. No sob story about trying to make money or anything. Just a dude who tried to live a normal, providing life after a streak of shitty luck and realized he was miserable without boxing. I'm pretty sure Ippo Vs Date is gonna be the best fight so far. The hype is unreal after all these lackluster fights we've been getting since the Sendo fight. |

| Date's backstory is tragic, and almost makes me root for him to win. I just want to see him raise up his kid. Although, if Rocky taught us anything, it's not about winning, it's enough to put everything on the line and put up a great fight. I'm guessing that's how Ippo vs Date is going to go. |

| New op and it isn't as great as the previous two, but oh well. In this ep we had a back story of Date and I must say it was great of him to come to boxing after 6yrs, but it was thank to the wife though for encouraging him. As for Ippo facing him, I hope it will be a fierce and a passionate fight because after all it is a championship match. As for Takamura, I know he will win his anyway. A masterpiece series so far. |

| Finding out about what caused Date's scar was one thing but the discovery of a miscarriage happening to his wife just around the time he lost the World Championships and how distraught she was towards her husband attempting to discard his past after abandoning his dreams for 3 whole years nearly made me cry for them. I'm really glad that things ended on a happy note for them. Surprisingly enough, I'm worried about Takamura since Date's little speech at the end definitely felt like he was jinxing it and him falling unconscious in the sauna wasn't a very pretty sign... |

| Date lost the world championship battle 6 years prior. In his flashback he wanted to gain approval for his marriage. What a touching reason to contend internationally. Good episode. |
