Discussion for the short called "Have I Got a Story For You"
I wasn't really a fan of the animation of this first short, the mouth movements kind of bothered me and the characters were kind of proportioned weirdly. I also usually envision Gotham as much darker and usually at night and alot of this story during the retellings was very bright and in the middle of the day. That said, I thought it was a neat story having the characters give their own "big fish" version of their encounter with batman. The Iron-manish batman was the most amusing to me. If Gotham is the new york of the dc universe and Metropolis is the LA, they definitely got that feel right, because it felt like I was watching something that was based on the city in NY.

This was a pretty good episode
I liked how the kids imagined batman, especially the first batman and how he traveled in shadows.

Background animation was excellent, actual characters not so much. Story so-so. Voice-overs no-no.

The background animation was stellar. I like the way the kids imagined Batman as being scary and inhuman, and in the end he's just another mortal. A mortal with a really big chin.

The animation style was pretty interesting. I've heard all of those main voice actors somewhere, one of them was from Mission Hill. I don't think the voice actors fit very well. It was fun to hear the stories, and then the way it ended was pretty fun too.

Background animation was amazing, but I'm sick and tired of seeing these sloppy character designs around. Overall, not a bad episode, but the characters really bugged me. I don't know if I approve of Batman sucking that much though :/

The different imaginations of the kids was pretty interesting, and the animation in this one overall was very nice.

It was cool, I liked it. You should definitely check out Tekkon Kinkreet if you like this art style.

The animation and the way the kids imagined Batman were pretty cool, but other than that this was nothing special, imo.

Yeah it was very Tekkon Kinkreet ish. Thought it was an amusing how they all made him up to be something more then what he already is.

I loved the design of the city and the different kids ideas of Batman. It showed how mysterious he is to the people of Gotham City and how many people imagine him to be inhuman. Then in the end he is shown to be human after all. This was pretty much identical to an episode of the animated series, Legends of the Dark Knight, which was the first included on the bonus disc and before that in the comics so it was probably done like that on purpose. My one major problem with it were the character designs of the kids and others although I thought the Batman designs were cool. It also seemed through all the episodes there were some problems with syncing their voices since the animation was done first instead of the voices like in most american animation.

I also liked the fact that this was the first episode and you could take it to mean all the rest of the shorts can be different interpretations of Batman just like those kids had.

Agree, the design of the background and the surroundings was awesome. I wasn't too fond of the character animation though and the whole story felt a bit weird. But it was decent. Off to #2~

Not too much for the character animation, backgrounds were really good. However, batman is not a robot!! XD. The first kids imagination of batman was cool though.

Animation in this short was excellent. For those who aren't familiar with them, the designers for this piece were the same folks who produced the unique visuals in Tekkon Kinkreet, Mind Game, and Kemonozume (one of my favorites). The art is not sloppy or careless, it's a trademark style of those artists and they executed it perfectly. You can see the care they took with the animation in screencaps. This compilation DVD is meant to showcase the talents of these studios, after all. Backgrounds were superb, and I liked their take on Batman as a (jazzy) bat-monster too. This studio's got class.

I really did not know what to think of this short. The animation was VERY hit-or-miss, and it missed with me. I only didn't give it a one because I did smile at some parts.

It was just, OK because I didn't really like the art used to portray the characters in this episode, it looked too rude, and obnoxious.

An interesting idea, but the execution leaved a lot to be desired. It's also strange to see Batman operating in the day time, which is something he rarely does.

I love the style of this one. It's the same thing I loved about Tekkon Kinkreet. Completely unrestrained movement in animation, crazy detailed scenery, and unconventional art style. This episode explores the unreliable yet fantastic imagination and storytelling of a child the same way Tekkon Kinkreet did and I loved every second of it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the signature style in this piece. The art really complimented the children's fantasized versions of batman, especially with the fluid-like shadow Batman that the first child came up with. I adore stories showcasing the imagination of children:)

This is a very great start to the series and now I fear the rest of the episodes will not live up to it. I hope I am proven wrong!

As with all Batman, very dark all the way through.
Batman looks more creature like in this.
