Damn it's pretty funny seeing Uso and Cronicle beating the shit out of each other like that.

I started watching the series with this episode, since it was suposed to be Episode 1

The animation ih this show sucks! It's at the same level that Zeta Gundam and ZZ Gundam. G Gundam, who started in the same year Victory ended, has a much better animation.

I didn't undertand the plot very well, but I think it's going to be explained better in the next episodes.

Uso looks like a Digimon main character, but I liked him!

Oh, and the scenes on the cockpit was very bizarre. This part seemed like a ZZ Gundam episode.

I thought the cockpit fight was pretty cool, personally. Apparently, paragliders are very effective against mobile suits!

Also, after Turn A and some G, I'm so glad to see Haro! It's kind of weird to think that Amuro Ray invented those things way back before MSG.

So far, I dislike the character designs and colors, but hopefully they'll improve or at least grow on me a little. At least the protagonist doesn't seem like an annoying little brat yet, though he lacks personality from my first impression.

Chronicle has red hair, a mask, a name starting with "Ch", and apparently is aligned with the side opposite from the protagonist. Can I assume that he is the Char clone in this series?

The video display inside the cockpit of a mobile suit seems like it would be way disconcerting, especially for first-time pilots. You're kind of just floating out in space. e_e After you get used to it, you could seem from any direction, though!

There is literally nothing I don't like about this episode. The precarious yet comedic mobile suit jacking - "of course there's someone in a mobile suit!"; the flight through the lake. Really entertaining stuff.

There's also quickly established (albeit in usual Tomino strangedialogue) the Zanscare's brutal methods - their space origins and looming invasion.

The scene where Uso confronts the interlopers over - humorously daft - Mother's ham - is just that perfect sort of human characterisation and youthful innocence that makes Tomino's Gundam's a unique experience.

Shakti's seems to be a Newtype, and the dog - Flanders - now that's a fun reference.
There's something really lovely about the picturesque forest setting - I don't recall any other prior Gundam having this sort of aesthetic. Very much helps reinforce the beauty of Earth as opposed to the starkness of Space. Reminds of segments and themes from Crossbone Gundam.

"I won... me... how?" Same question. I'll add: who are Uso and Shakti? I understood that they were left behind (not so long ago since they still have food), they know each other, Shakti seems to have Newtype senses (weird, since it seems that she's an earthling who never reached the space) and Uso has a luck factor greater than Judau's. Based on the town woman's name, it might take place somewhere in East Europa.
But that's all? (We knew what kind of person were the previous TV heroes in a single episode, and their identity was provided)

On the other side, we got several informations about the conflict and the opponents (oh "surprise": the masked guy is the brother of the "princess"). This newly founded colonies empire seems to be pretty gruesome to promote the use of such an old-fashioned device as the guillotine.

Are the rotors a new cheaper way to move a MS in the air without relying on thrusters and those Zeta flying boards?

3/5 Hopefully we'll learn more about the cast later.

"WINNERS FOREVER !" The ending provided me a good laugh.

@St0rmblade She's a wealthy (healthy, pretty and rather adult-looking) urban adolescent, not a princess, ;)
The beam rotors are indeed a direct evolution of the technological evolution seen in F91, the beam shield. For me, it's another great thing in Tomino's hand at Gundam: as scifi-esque and fantasy-like as the tech is, the progress seems "real". (just like seeing beam tech more and more with Zeta and later installations ends up not jarring after 0079's rare beams). Or the other equipments (notably the "cockpit") and props.

"the main antagonist I presume" Funny, Tomino presumed it too...

You know it's time to retire when you get your ass kicked out your mobile suit by an 11 year-old boy. I didn't dislike the episode, even though I found the cockpit fight really stupid (but still hilarious). It did a good job giving proper context to the events of the first episode, so I guess the next two will show in detail the chain of events that led to the current situation. On a completely unrelated note, I just realized that I cannot stand Uso's voice, which is a bit of a problem when he's the titular protagonist of the show. Here's to hoping I get used to it, eventually.
Oh, and I'm still very iffy about a kid as young as Uso piloting an MS and killing people with it. I know he grew up in a harsh environment but still, his age was a fucking single digit two years ago. And Shakti's passivity regarding her friend is irritating at best. (yes, she totally should've guessed he was gonna do some stupid shit when he started worrying about Katejina and ran off all of a sudden)

Also,

That's racist.

Okay, I enjoyed this episode way more than the first one (or fourth one, rather). The cockpit fight was a little over the top, but not anything too horrible.

Seeing Uso having to kill people.. eh. We'll see how this goes.

2 episodes in and the setting and scenario seem pretty well established. I think I like Uso already and I don't mind the lack of shading.

Usso seems to be a very skilled Pilot. Defeated an experienced soldier, although it looks like he had the better spec'd Robot.

Started with this episode instead of the "first" one, since this is actually the first in chronological order. Got a good laugh after seeing Uso beating up the main antagonist (I presume) at the very beginning xD

Interesting MS designs with those pseudo-helicopter beam rotors for flying and deflecting projectiles (getting F91 vibe from this technology). Canonical Gundam theft is replaced by enemy MS theft.

I liked it. Uso kicking Chronicles ass in the cockpit was funny. I like the art and colors so far aswell. I guess this is technically episode 1. So Zanscare empire is invading earth and the League Militaire captured one of their Yellow Jackets and Uso is using it.

I emplore you: Pause to read the MS manual when Uso is trying to learn how to land. It is the most hilarious mix of Japanese and English I've ever seen.

Given I watched all the UC side content between CCA and this, seeing Uso and Chronicle beat each other up reminded me how I missed Tomino.
