| Shin only appeared twice on screen in season 1. Once when she threw the flower with the warning on it in episode 1, and once standing behind Lihua during the opening ceremony of that garden party in episode 5-6. She was around but contrary to Hongniang or Fengming, the head lady in waiting of Lihua's pavilion isn't working close to the rest of the ladies in waiting, as she considers this to be beneath her. As such, outside of ceremonial moments, she mostly appear in front of Lihua when Lihua specifically calls for her, or when she rarely needs to throw new orders to the ladies in waiting. As such, it is very likely that Shin didn't even bother to approach Maomao during her initial time there. Her attitude and distance she puts between her and her "master" is one of the main reason that allowed the ladies in waiting to be so incompetent, lacking so much leadership (as the only ones ordering them was Lihua themselves, but that means that if she's too weak to order them, then they're stuck without anyone to lead), and ability to handle unexpected events, like with Maomao's time in there. |
