| You can watch it all for the laughs... But yeah, Episode 1 (ignoring the super fast pacing) in the only redeemable episode this adaptation has. You can read the manga afterwards, since it's only 19-chapter long. |

| No. I mean, it's a short anime (only 4 episodes), so it's less tempting to drop it than as if it had way more episodes. There is indeed a quality drop after episode 1 and yes, it is something disappointing. Unfortunately. That being said, here's my advice: watch ep. 2 and see for yourself whether this show feels fun to watch despite quality drop of its visuals. The story is still there, and it's faithful to the source material; same with the atmosphere. If you will like it, then you can continue watching it; if you won't like it, then I suggest dropping it. No need to waste your time on any anime that is not even remotely entertaining to watch. |

| They exaggerate some the quality drops but also improves for some but not to high level as the first episode unfortunately. The story also gets mixed around, the manga is a better experience for anything past the first episode in most cases. It isnt very long so no need to drop it unless time is strict for you but make sure to read the manga first. Personally i alternated manga and anime while watching which isnt easy since it combines unrelated events into single episodes which is why i suggest manga first after the first ep. First ep does some combining and some people didnt like the pacing but personally i think it worked for that first episode. |

| I think it became far too overhated, honestly. The pacing is atrocious, the animation quality declines sharply after the first episode (though there are still some nice-looking moments throughout; especially in the fourth and last episode), and the whole decision to kneecap it by limiting it to four episodes to begin with, which directly caused the pacing issues, should have incited a scandal and something behind the scenes changing before it even left the drawing board and production process. But the first and fourth episodes while far from perfect have many strong scenes and striking imagery which bookend the whole experience nicely, the premise alone is a high concept with individual creative manifestations of and the sheer scale, totality, and intractability of the crisis facing the town depicted well (which the absurd manic pacing actually inadvertently aids), and however marred, it's just nice to get a "new" (despite the source and original story being over 25 years old by now and based on a late 90s manga) unique cosmic horror like this, and I'd take it any day of the week over another generic copy/paste power fantasy isekai or something like that. I would say watch it if you are interested enough in the premise and/or if you are a big enough horror fan. Especially if you're a big enough horror fan who, by virtue and the very nature of being a big fan of the genre, are also used to a lot of cheesy, low budget, or partially-failed efforts. Then this will feel like home while not being bereft of inspiration and instances of beauty. |
