The mother-in-law is really unbearable, but at the same time, I think she’s playing a role that doesn’t stray too far from a certain stereotype lol. Don’t tell me you’ve never heard someone ranting about their mother-in-law.

Going back to the "honorable old lady" lol, she wants her son to marry someone of "class." We know Miyo is very capable, and with that ending showing she's determined, we can already see the start of a shift in their relationship.

It’s great to see Miyo doing her best—these little steps forward are so rewarding.

I think something that’s highlighted quite well throughout the whole episode is Miyo’s resilience and the principle behind it: When you’ve been through Hell and made it out the other side, there’s nothing you can’t handle. Miyo has endured so much in her life already, and every time she’s grown stronger and more sure of who she is. So from that standpoint, why would anything Lady Kudo throw at her be her breaking point? She knows she can handle it, and she knows Kiyoka will be by her side through it all. It doesn’t mean she isn’t scared or nervous or have doubts about her strength. She’s simply able to keep going despite all of that.
As someone who grew up with a similar mentality of “if I’ve made it through tough things before, this time won’t be the end either” it’s really nice to see it in a more realistic way than other shows have demonstrated in the past. Miyo has such a full range of emotions and ideas; it’s really beautiful to see.

Also this is completely outside of this point but I absolutely love when Kiyoka wraps the blanket around Miyo and she starts blushing as if they are doing something ~scandalous~ (I know it would’ve been for the time period) it’s super cute when they get to be a couple together!

@Nerdodivergent this is such a great perspective (that is so different from my own pessimistic take on this episode) that I've been inspired to give this show another shot, not even joking. Thanks for sharing it!

I'm ambivalent with the way Miyo deals with her detractors. On the one side, I'm irritated the way she embraces her victim role. On the other hand, I'm left smiling, and snickering when it works to her advantage, and wins people over. That in a nutshell shows the sort of emotional roller coaster I'd expect from this anime. It started from season one, and continues now. The difference? Miyo has unlocked her true power, and that's what makes the current season the more interesting.

I am Brazilian and don’t speak English, so I’m using a translator to write this. I was frustrated with Myio in the second season. In the first season, she seemed to have grown a lot, overcoming her insecurities and everything she went through. But in the second season, it feels like she’s still the same person, unable to stand up for herself. She lets her mother-in-law treat her badly, and when her mother-in-law asked her to dress like a maid, she just accepted it without doing anything.

@Drigosena She accepted the role because 1) she is exceptionally good at housework, 2) unlike when she was being maltreated by the Saimori, this doesn't crush her spirit.

The point of this ordeal is to weed out people like Kaya who were spoiled. The mother-in-law expects Miyo to be spoiled like Kaya, but she doesn't know that she was treated worse than what she was asking Miyo to do.

This wasn't emphasized in the anime, but the maid uniform in the Kudou villa are way better than those in the Saimori estate. The servants are treated well, which makes them loyal. This is why Miyo praises her mother-in-law contrary to people's expectations that she will curse her.

I hope your view changes because it is unfortunate that people don't see Miyo's growth. The purpose of this arc is to show the contrast from how Miyo was in the first half of season 1. She has grown resilient, and Nietzsche has so much to say about people like Miyo who endure so much difficulties.

Man I really hope Kiyoka’s mom will change and become just a little nicer man I mean her getting mad and almost slapping Miyo was just downright evil but what was pissing me off a bit was when the dude at the end who’s almost dying mind you and she’s still going off on Miyo like girl THERE IS A MAN DYING ON UR TABLE!!!🙄🙄😭🤦🏽‍♂️

While I did want Miyo to stand up for herself I guess she stood up in her own way by not letting anything that Kiyoka’s mom get to her, since she’s been through hell and back during her stay at the Saimori House she can get through anything knowing that Kiyoka will be by her side at the end of the day. I’m happy when things go Miyo’s way shit puts a smile on my face😊☺️😊☺️🥰

The demon plot is actually so interesting I’m so glad the plot for it is picking up, like bro the fight with Kiyoka vs the cult member was SOOOO FRESH like the animation was just eye candy, im so intrigued in seeing this studio animating a fight scene bc the quality in the non fight scenes are already eye candy so imagine them doing a fight scene in getting chills just thinking about it🤩🤩🤩

I know it's part of her growth and character development but Miyo has to stop being such a punk to everyone who gives stupid orders to her. This lady will never respect you and doing that shows you are easy to control and push around. I want to see where they go with how they handle the mother but the writers of this show have to see having Miyo go through the same character is not only boring but makes her look like a pushover. The Furyu lady is insane. This character is not realistic and feels like a an evil stepmother from a Reddit post. I like this show but this has been the best start.

Miyo being now in the Kudo family, does not mean that she will get along with the other family members, such as Kiyoka's mother Fuyu, as much as head mistress Nae wants her to be fairly treated like the rest.

All Miyo had to do was just like her housekeeping role in the Saimori family, even as the negative criticisms come off of Fuyu to deem her unfit for the Kudo family. Still, her spirit is commendable, just like Kiyoka, and it's only by Tadakiyo's graces that he saved her from being tortured by his own wife that won the hearts of the servants both young and old.

Kiyoka stumbling upon an unknown cult, it is hideous enough for cultists to swear their undying loyalty to the faith, and the Gifted Communion raises doubts about Kiyoka bringing her to his home for safety. In the midst of the uneasiness, it's nice of Kiyoka to take care of his newfound wife, yet for Miyo to stick her nose into his and his mother's business for raising her own son the way she wants, it's quite the heavy burden in plight of Tadakiyo's expectations as well.

The word of demons arriving in the village, Miyo may have her Dream-sight ability to help a man paralyzed in terror whilst Kiyoka handles the root of the matter...but what does Arata have to say about this time?

Kiyoka's mom is really an awful hag. She wanted to bully Miyo so hard that she'd just leave. Luckily, Miyo is a diligent person who experienced a lot of hardships far worse than having to clean windows or wash the floor. Her relationship with Kiyoka made her stronger, indeed.

Ouch, a dangerous and apparently fairly influential group of fanatics is responsible for the uproar in various places of the country.

They know the danger's coming. This season will be a harmonious balancing act.

But um.. guess my thought that the mom can't be as bad as Miyo's family was mistaken. Screw the stuck up family types. Everybody has to work her to the bone 😔 but I guess she has the experience. This is Miyo's personal battle.. give her the respect.

Meanwhile Kiyo's uncovering cult stuff 👀 can see the B plot is moving along as scheduled. Cult needs to up their game if they're gonna put up a fight with Kiyo. They're definitely crazy, the Gifted Communion..

He 100% would have murdered his mom if he was around for the whole servant act.

W Miyo standing up for herself 👏 the mom will learn to respect her

Kudo Fuyu mistreats Miyo, asking her to dress like a servant and do the job of servants. Though the work is not new to Miyo, the disrespect Fuyu shows will cost her dearly. Moreover, she doesn't seem to know Miyo is of Usuba clan.

When a civilian seems to need help, Miyo volunteers to help with her ability, but Arata stops her.
