Even though I didn't like this manga very much, it kept me hooked to the very end. I've read 4 of Oshimi Shuzou's works if I'm not wrong and once I start reading, I can't help but binge read them no matter how much work I have to do that day. Even the top mangas like Berserk, Slam Dunk, Oyasumi Punpun, The Climber fail to keep me hooked cuz I easily get bored and as a result more than 50% of the mangas in my list are still on hold and I can't get myself to continue reading them. I don't understand why this happens with me. Does this happen with you too when you read his works? Any particular manga that you guys had similar experience reading?

I read all sensei's work. and liked 90% of them. the only two I didn't like was Happiness due to enormous torture use and Inside Mari due to the very weird ending. but I thoroughly enjoyed Chi no Wadachi, Okaeri Alice, Aku no Hana and now I am reading Chi-chan. what I like particular in Oshimi's works is psychology. you can almost feel how MC feels. artwork is Superb and I also like that in almost all of his work there is a time skip so one can see how MC developes over time.

I guess Oshimi's manga are not that long, so they are easy to binge. Also, maybe it depends on your preferences. There might be something about his works in particular that you like and keeps you hooked that other stories do not have. I like character driven stories. If a story has deep and well written characters, i binge it, but if it relies heavily on plot or mindless action, i get bored quickly. Also, as the previous reply mentioned, Oshimi has a talent to transport you into the character's mind, make you feel what they feel, which is very addicting to read in my opinion.

I totally feel you on this one. The earliest works notwithstanding, all of his manga employ such huge, clear drawings and not as much text, that binging them feels like a breeze.

True, I've currently read about 5 of his mangas and will probably read more of his works.

Yes, there is something special. I like his mangas, especially the dialogues, the manga panel is not full of them, the characters say only what is necessary... I think.

He is a great author, but most of all in regards to reading format: His panneling is easy for the eyes, it is not dense and simple. The art is great, but is not even just the art, but his way of making the pannels in most pages. Chi no wadachi, for example, has 153 and feels like a short manga. A user pointed out that most pannels follow 3 screens per pannel.

His stories are interesting and have a emotional atmospheric feeling to it while being very easy for the eyes, while being straight to the point. I could elaborate on the specifics of the stories themselves but i will not do it here.

i find his works repetitive in a way (at least the 3 ones i've read), but they always have different executions, and i find it very hard to not get hooked.
the only one i've struggled to enjoy so far was blood on the tacks, but okaeri alice was awesome, and flowers of evil even better.
honestly one of my favorite mangaka

It was opposite for me. I loved Blood on the Tracks so much. I rated it 10 and it's one of my favourites. I even cried reading it.
