Damn, feels weird to watch a One Piece episode without a five fucking minute long recap at the beginning lol. Been a while since I could say we're jumping straight to it from last episode, but here we are, with Chopper meeting up with the REAL Nami and Usopp. Meanwhile, Zoro and Sanji finally meet up... and have the most Zoro and Sanji bickering ever lol. Could've sworn I heard this exact same argument in a recent Egghead episode, just with some numbers mixed around lol.

On the other side of Sabody though, Luffy's over here with the fakes at the meetup. Do have to agree with some people with that the way they keep moving around places does feel a bit odd. I mean, I don't see any reason why they didn't just finish off the Brook stuff, but instead switched to Chopper and co. meeting up with Franky...?? Whatever though, we still got to see Brook's AMAZINGGGG PREFORMANCE, so all's good.

Meanwhile though, back to Luffy's POV, all hell's breaking lose, no thanks to these fakes and Caribou, with the marine's launching a full on attack on the fakes little followers or whatever. Though, thank fuck Sentomaru my goat came int to put these annoying fuckers in their place and finally take down their little scam they were running, and Luffy LOCKS IN THE FUCK IN, AND GIVES US THAT ICONIC "TOO SLOW" LINE, WITH THAT JETO PITSOLOOOOOO, WITH ZORO AND LUFFY REUNITING SHORTLY AFTER AS WELL AHHHHHHHHHHH.

And to top it off, ofc we have to get that signature "I'M GONNA BECOME THE PIRATE KING"... <3

P.S. For reference:
This episode two adapted three episode of the Return to Sabody arc (Ep #519, #520, & 521), and chapters 600 and 601.

I still think Chopper and Luffy getting tricked by the fake straw hats in this arc is such a funny gag. Interesting how they inserted the new version of We Go near the end. I thought this episode was better paced than the last one, though there are still some transitions which feel a bit abrupt.

I always thought Brook becoming Jimi Hendrix over the timeskip was excellent lol
Everything looks a lot clearer in this remaster, it looks a bit more like the manga style here I feel like
Franky doing a robot voice to impress everybody still makes me laugh lol

This episode was edited far better than the first and was a breath of fresh air. The pacing is spectacular it trims off the unnecessary fat and that art/animation is ofc beautiful.

OH MY GOD THIS IS SUCH BADASSERY! Brook’s concert was nothing short of excellence as Rayleigh was simultaneously greeting Nami and the others, and Luffy is doing his thing as usual, just being the greatest and most badass fictional concept to ever become a conceivable human thought! JUST ABSOLUTE BADASSERY THAT NO HUMAN CAN TRULY COMPREHEND. I CAN COME BACK AND WATCH THIS MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL NOT UNDERSTAND THE FULL SCALE OF SUCH GREATNESS. I’m still shocked that Chopper got tricked so easily! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! Luffy dodging the blast from the Pacifista, and then clapping its CHEEKS in one shot of Second Gear was just…. TOEI IS GIVING US SO MUCH BADASSERY! Luffy’s goodbye and his declaration to become the King of the Pirates is just…. OH MY GOD I CAN’T CONTAIN MYSELF! I’m hyped to see more and more! Toei knows what they’re doing as One Piece is the greatest fictional work in existence. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MORE!

I'm really enjoying the official One Pace version of this arc and am looking forward to what's to come.

I will say, however, that I thought the final scene was done better in the original pacing of the anime. Of course there was still some fat to trim, but this edited version of that scene fell a bit flat for me.

Even reanimated, I’ll never understand how people are stupid enough to confuse the imposters for the real deal. It only takes a small amount of common sense that even a toddler has.

They are editing the original episodes, so don't look it like they adapted 2 chapters into 1 episode, but they edited 3 episodes into 1

@a0i-kun It's a remastered version, not a remake. Which means they're using the same old animation but edited.

Ah yes, the meeting between the Straw Hats with the impostors being a happy accident for an improvised battle against the Navy. I certainly remembered that as well as how Luffy showed how much he'd grown since 2 years prior. The difference now is that none of it is padded out and it was able to fit in one episode. Also, while I still prefere the vigor in the voice of the original opening song, this one having all of the VAs is certainly a good touch. Good ED as well particularly in style.

The pacing in this episode felt surprisingly smooth! Finally, the whole crew is here, and off we go to the new world. Chopper fainting from excitement was so cute, and seeing Luffy take down the Pacifista in one hit is always a cool moment. But the best part was definitely Rayleigh tearing up when Luffy declared he’s going to be the Pirate King.

This was 3 episodes in one, incredibly smooth, and once again, they only had to cut some few, very minor panels with information we already got provided by the episode anyway.

Likely because of time constraints, they don't have the advantages of One Pace to edit the episodes to be longer than 24 minutes, so this is to be expected unless they decide to go for cold OP/ED in the future (aka, skipping the OP/ED and putting just the credits on screen while the episode goes on like normal). Then again, there are so few panels taken away, that I can understand why they didn't (probably not enough 1min and 30sec?).

Would be fun to see a little extended edit running just a bit longer than 24 minutes including them in the BluRay, considering we did have a couple of iffy cuts here and there like Fake Nami's in EP1, Sunny meet-up OST being a bit intrusive when integrated to the previous scene, which was Luffy's Haki, and now, this ep with Chopper's abrupt cut from not knowing about the impostors vs being told about them by Nami and Usopp (then again, they only needed an extra second or two for that one to breathe, it was definitely an improvement compared to the first example).

So far so great, the pacing is incredibly satisfying so far, things are moving very vividly and mostly smoothly. There can be improvements, and it seems like a director for this edit on Twitter did say we are going to see ust that starting from next episode, looking forward to that!

Another easy 4/5 episode to me. We are eating really good, especially for this limited TV runtime. I hope the editing keeps improving.

I liked this ep more than the first one. I don't know about the cut scenes, but I liked the temp here. Luffy's dialogue with Rayleigh in the original was more emotional due to the fact that it lasted longer, although I still had goosebumps. The scenes of "too slow" and "Luffy one shots pacifista" are still so epic, also now the impact has the visual effects of Conqueror's Haki.

I am confused.
Either I am way too used to the slow pacing of the original anime, or the editing is just a little bit. But thats just a small nitpick honestly.

Chopper and Luffy after being fooled by the fake Straw Hats finally meet the real ones. Particularly liked Luffy's section and his dumbness being endearing almost.
And there was no shortage of badassery from Luffy in this episode either. Such iconic shots in the anime being recreated had me in goosebumps. Loved the return of the epic OST as well.
And the fact that the flashback of Roger with Rayleigh was literally 1 second. That blew my mind after having watching the original anime lmao.

Caribou was actually painted as a threat rather than a joke. I dont remember that happening.
I liked how Brook's concert overlapped with the scenes as well.
I love the fanboying over Franky
Classic Zoro Sanji banter rocks just as always.

It kind of broke my heart to see Kuma's face getting bashed so ugly. I know they are Pacifista, but with the context I have, it hurts.

Got so nostalgic watching this again. Luffy dodging those beams remains one the coolest scene in the entire anime. Got emotional watching the reunion, the goodbye to Rayleigh and now time to sail again. Can't believe it's been already like 8 years since I watched this in main anime.

Also lol watching Robin here with the post timeskip look and in the latest chapter

Pretty good editing although it still feels like I'm watching in fast forward cause of the re-used voice acting but I guess that can't be helped. This is just a small taste of the greatness that the Wit Studio remake is gonna give us. No more filler, no more recaps, no more retarded ass voice acting, no more slideshows pretending to be animation. Can't wait.
