Poor Koume. Tears were shed, emotions were shown. I feel for her and she obviously misses her father.

The episode was okay although I felt slightly underwhelmed as it's the penultimate episode. All this family talk and the well feels like they're not building to something big yet. Interested to see how the season finale will play out.

@Stark700 Next ep. will be mostly about Nazukihiko and Yukia. But Koume, and not only her, will play a part too.
Does Koume have a double?

No, the other woman is the mother.

We really only have one more Yatagarasu episode left man I need that s2 announced as soon as it ends next week. No way we resolve everything in the finale. Ton of good world building in this episode and as usual, we answer a few questions and get a lot more.

So I’m sorry but I have zero sympathy for Jihei. Sold out his own people and cost dozens of innocent lives because of his greed. I would’ve been ok with him being a drug dealer if he left the game, aka his monkey cartel supplier, alone. But he got greedy and was willing to have innocent people killed for money. He would’ve been cool with the gold pieces he got after about 4-6 loads of that sage cap.

Poor Koume was so close to her dad and didn’t even know the extent of his nefarious activities, but it’s not on her to be her father’s keeper nor should she be blamed for his actions so seeing Yukiya snap on her at the end there really got me upset, especially with how close they were when she first got rescued. BUT, it looks like that was exactly what she was hoping for. If Yukiya is suspicious and tails after her he’ll be good backup for whatever she’s planning to do with her mom. Just how deep does this conspiracy run.. I also think it’s a lil weak for everyone to just instantly accuse Koume because of the double mole thing lol.

On the monkey side of things, after we found out about this taking place within some sort of magical barrier while the rest of the world is in the modern age last week.. I’m curious what the monkey leader was talking about when he was accusing the Yatagarasu of wrongdoing. Maybe it has something to do with their human forms? He mentioned knowing them since they could only make bird noises.. so it’s apparent that they’re not just hunting Yatagarasu because they look like humans like was suggested last week, but for something else. So many questions, so little time. I love this show sm.

A little bit lousy writing that assume people with same mole spot are related, but maybe this is true for bird people?

I've loved this anime since day one and I'm still loving it as much, if not even more. I'm always looking forward to the new episodes and the intrigue is amazing. I'm feeling a little sad that next week is the last episode already, I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Yukiya-Natsukihiko duo already. I really hope a second season will be announced.

About this episode: the monkey in the well knows stuff and I'm so curious as to what it is. The Yatagarasu decided to forget some stuff and now the Yatagarasu seem to be paying the price of that bit of missing history, what could it be and how does it relate to the monkeys? (I don't expect an answer to that question, please don't spoil me lol). We know from last week's episode (or a previous one) that the Yatagarasu decided to copy the humans when they switch, but why did they choose the humans? Aaaah there is still so much mystery around the Yamauchi and Yatagarasu species!

Not really tho, no one has made an assumption yet or come to a conclusion… the only person who really acted on this is koume cause she knows what her mother looks like… yukiya is probably acting on the assumption that koume’s is trying to cover for someone again and not based on the mole

I love the twists and turns this single episode took, it's got me completely hooked. Enough to overlook the fact that both Koume and her mom have two moles under their right eye... And that Wakamiya just called up the chief monkey for a chat, and then decided to jump down and slaughter it by himself... And that they haven't followed up at all on the bombshell "outside world" revelation last episode.

I wonder what Koume's mother's role is in all of this. She can't have been on good terms with Jihei, given that she was fed up enough to leave him. Maybe Jihei was sending her Sagecap in the (pathetic) hopes of pleasing her and having her come back. Maybe it was to avoid drawing too much attention by selling some goods outside the capital... and he didn't know anyone else that he could trust.

After Asebi, I just can't trust women's tears in this show too easily.

I wavered for a second, like Yukiya did, but she seems genuine. Mostly. I think she knew something was up, but she probably wasn't an active participant in the scheme.

With the death of Jihei, Koume has struck tears over this as the Underground and King Saku had one-upped against the Cherry Blossom Palace, with his letter of regret being the only evidence left, as well as the well that contained a yatagarasu that blessed him with Sagecap, and money slowly reaped in to offer givings to the god time and time again. That is until it requests for a human woman, which confirmed the existence of monkeys, not worshipping a yatagarasu as he'd presumed it to be. The acts theeafter got more outrageous with yatagarasu being prey, which barring not having to see the monster again with the request from the Underground, sends both father and daughter packing out of Sugou until the situation got worse with the drugging of his own daughter as means to escape and not let her know of his crimes.

Going back to Jihei's well, which the monkey god still remained, Wakamiya and the others went to confront it, which is only a sign of bad things to come as the wells all around linked to an underground chamber, can be the only result of how the monkeys were able to rampage the villages swiftly. As for Koume, she's still not entirely proven innocent aside from the fact that she's been kept mum from her father's crimes, and the disparity of the old woman in Shimobara selling Sagecap having two moles under her eye that Yukiya assumed it's her, she was already thinking of leaving Taruhi before his arrival to atone for her part of the issue, as Wakamiya suspected that Yukiya always acts out of character, which was proven to be true.

The true schemer, now rests between daughter and mother.

I knew it was going to be the mother.

Also we got a monkey who can speak with the Yatagarasu and seems to have lived for a long time.

@phantomfandom Yeah, that mole placement would be a genetic thing is a pretty goofy detail that stands out in all the interestingly written twists. Guess they could also be a makeup thing she passed on? Still interested to find out how the mother even got involved in the trade. We seem to be hinting the letter isn't the whole truth.

Don't know if it's Crunchyroll's subs or it's also a mistake in the Japanese: but the moles are under her RIGHT EYE, not the left like the subs said. That really got under my skin when details matter in a mystery show.

I can't believe there's only one episode left, this anime was so good to end now...

This episode had another twist, and I thought there would be no more surprises, Even though this arc is much "simpler" than the first, it was still possible to enjoy every moment, I think here, what if the crows' next enemy is humans? Wow, that would be crazy.

I didn't even remember that the mother and daughter had two moles on their faces... And Yukiya went crazy in this episode lol

I mean could already tell it wasn't Koume from the silhouette we saw as she looked more mature and voluptuous and Koume didn't have that allure and it was her mother and holy! she's alluring af.

Btw Yukiya messed up this time giving into his rage and getting his vision clouded and can't blame him but hope he fixes things up with Koume and she'll be with him.

So Koumeinis innocent but had secrets of her own. Looks like this arc won't be resolved in the last episode.
