Not going to lie but watching Mudo fight this episode really shows his skill and potential. He might be a bit hotheaded but the skill is there.

He and Senya got one of the most entertaining fights this season imo.

Tsukiko thinks she can win an award for the best new dress, but that award actually goes to Senya, who reveals his abs despite being just a little kid.

Whew one of the best Sengoku youko episodes so far by a big ass margin, Senya and Mudo really about to go aura for aura, Shogun taking on 10,000 men by himself.. proper old school battle shonen here. White Fox cooked

The only way forward for Senya was always going to be taming the Katawara inside him and regaining his memories. Things actually went really well on that front in this episode. Glad there was no beef or anything with Shinsuke because of the mountain god sealing Senya dad. He recognised that Shinsuke cares for him a lot and that he’s a genuinely good person.

Getting his memories back also was the key to taming the Katawara which makes sense because you can’t possibly expect to be respected by these powerful beings if you don’t even know who you are lol

The shogun time cutting ability is actually dope as hell and it’s a testament to how pure a person he is that he hasn’t tried to do anything nefarious with it. All that power and he’s ok with his own death, just wants to make sure his subordinates survive. Real ass leader there man. Total contrast to what we’re seeing over on elusive samurai rn lol. I hope he somehow gets an asspull and comes out on top because Japan needs someone like this in charge

A fight literally in the heavens is the perfect spot for the Mudo and Senya fight. Senya looks like a totally different person now. No longer burdened by insecurities and fears. Just playing a game so he can get his girl back. Love that growth out of him. It’s also cool the first demon to step forward out of all the powerful ones inside him is the smallest and weakest of the bunch. The others just cowering from Mudo lmao

Can’t wait for next ep

One of the best episodes of the series so far. I'm really liking Senya's character, and his interactions with Shinsuke and everyone else. The fight against Mudo is going to be a good one, hopefully White Fox can do as well as they did this episode next time too.

After this episode, I can safely say this is my anime of the season

Plot /character growth/ artstyle/ pacing/ dialogues/ combat all top notch.
Senya's growth reminds me of Simon from Gurren Lagann. That cross hand position is very sexy.

I still don't get why and how this anime get zero attention and viewership.
The production quality is good, the plot is good, the character is good, the source is good.
Same type of plot Demon Slayer got a million times more attention and get praised as masterpiece.
In fact i think the writing /characters of this anime are way better than Demon Slayer. There's not a single character that's there just for awful comedy moment like Zenitsu and Boar guy, which they are just constantly shouting and acting dumb.

@Ventus_S It's unfortunate how much damage some of the hatewatchers or review bombers did to this franchise when the first season aired.

Yknow what's sadder? even if i go to Japan i cant find merchandise related to these less popular shonen.
It's always the same merchandise throughout the globe, One Piss, My Hero Academia, Volleyball, Demon Slayer, Genshin Impact, Blue Lock taking up like half of the whole merchandise in any given shop.

@Ventus_S Sengoku Youko probably would have a lot of merch though. It's decently popular in Japan, just not overseas.

Character writing is the best thing about Sengoku Youko, and honestly the author himself, making up for standard shounen formulas.

And loved the Go Nagai/Gainax pose.

Wow Shinsuke did say something like that in Season 1, what a nice callback.

Absolute fantastic episode, Senya growth as a character is just amazing.

Are MindaRyn sing that insert song near the end? If so that is so awesome.
I missed her voice so much.

But god damn they leaving us with a Nasty Cliffhanger.
I want to see the battle so bad.
Next week felt so far a way.

So, I guess we've reached the halfway point of the show, if we put both parts together (35 episodes total, this episode being the 18th episode overall.) Reminder that most people who read the manga gave the manga a 9/10 on MAL (second-most gave it an 8/10 and third-most gave it a 10/10.)

So, Senya got his memories back. Happened a lot faster than I thought. I thought the show might hang that around for a few more episodes. At least Senya didn't go the "wHy DiD yOu sEaL mY fAtHeR" route with Shinsuke. He was mature and he realized that the life he's having right now is far better than his life living as a weapon with his so-called father. He's such a great protagonist. Before the 2nd part started I was skeptical about the sudden protagonist change but he might actually be my favorite out of all the main characters so far with only 5 episodes.

Senya won't fight Mudo. He's gonna play with him. That's such an interesting turnaround. I wonder how he's going to win this game. Mudo doesn't seem like the type of dragon who's reasonable. Besides, why are the katawara so afraid of dragons anyway? Is it because of their status in Japanese myths? That seems to be the case.

White Fox cooked with this episode. If they can keep this up with the important episodes I'd have no complaints. I hope the next episodes will be able to deliver. Can't wait for Senya vs Mudo and Shogun vs Matsunaga. I really hope Teru won't die tho. He's too good of a character.

It was briefly mentioned in the previous episode but while dragons are really powerful, the main reason they're scared is because of Jinun, Senya's father/master. We know that Senya went through training under Jinun, and considering how Jinun acts that training was probably grueling and dreadful. With Jinun being the only dragon Senya's katawara know, they probably thought all dragons were as scary as him.

That doesn’t explain the fact why Jinka was so scared of Jinun back in part 1. If I recall correctly he didn’t even know the guy initially. He was extremely afraid and wanted to run away instead of fighting him just because he was a dragon.

Like I said in the first sentence, dragons are powerful. Shinsuke mentions this in the previous episode I think. And considering Jinka was raised by Kokugetsusai (his master, whatever his name was) I wouldn't be surprised if he was told about dragons. Just speculation, though it makes the most sense.

Yeah, the fact that Shinsuke got one shot all the time when Dragon appears kinda explain how strong they are already.

Will miss the Shogun; he was a cool dude. Maybe the Goddess will bring him back as a ghost or something in return for her help.

And yeah, WF cooked on those last couple minutes. Next ep couldn't be looking better.

As Senya comes face to face with his thousand Katawara, Ashikaga knowing his time of death from Matsunaga's hands through spiraling his conscience with time and space, Shinsuke and Zanzou have no choice but to follow Hanatora's plans to evacuate the village, as much as Senya admits that he was used as a tool for Jinun, and yet despite the enemy (which is Shinsuke) having tried to save him multiple times before, the former gets his thoughts straight to confront his inner demons and prioritize what he needs to do, which is a good start. I'm honestly glad that Senya is realizing that he could become a human, despite the Katawara controlling him from within, and adding Ashikaga in the mix, the happy-go-lucky Shogun just exuberates life.

The fateful day of May 19th comes as Senya faces Mudo to face Banshou the cloud God to borrow his body, barring which the winner would save Tsukiko. And Senya makes it clear that he doesn't wants to face Mudo, but also, facing him with glee. The humans and Hanatora also get their plan working, and like Senya, Ashikaga faces the Matsunaga's army in the same fashion.

Smiling in the face of adversity, Senya and Ashikaga have the right of their lives, and I hope the fights live up to the old-school Shonen flair.
