Yeah, the mc in this was an interesting one. It would be great to get S2.
Remember what Master Oogway told us:

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

I doubt they would continue this, it was really a hidden gem for me
I discovered it on Youtube back in 2017 when people uploaded anime in ¼ th of screen size, completed the whole series and wanted more of Ikta
But I'm still hungry as I don't wanna read the LN series

@Bard_Eren Not surprising considering the lofty ambitions, very few animes actually deliver on a complex plot.

The author new work Seven Spellblades already had an anime.

Like most Dengeki Bunko titles, their anime are ‘shut up and buy the LN’, unless it is insanely popular like SAO.

If you want to read the LN, there is a fan translation done by SkyTheWood, I read all 14 volumes 3 years ago.

If you're interested enough, read the light novels from the very beginning. Be warned, though, this isn't a happy tale, and you should be fully prepared to see anyone in the story die, including the main characters. It demonstrates how gruesome war can actually be and how battle with a culmination of sins can twist innocent minds. In my experience, I first watched the anime and then moved onto the novels, which I found a whole lot better when reading from the start since you learn a lot more about the characters and the world. The anime simplifies and dumbs down many things, including the history of the empire, which is far too necessary for you to fully understand the story. The studio also intended for episode 13 to be left with that cliffhanger, so they changed the sequence of a lot of events and removed certain ones that they couldn't fit in.

@BlueMoonTornado I prefer dark and gruesome stories if you have seen my watchlist. As for the LN it seems like it would be the best choice, thank you for the detailed info )

would be nice if the light novel was published in English, sadly we don't even have that. the assholes literally gave us a story and then no way completing story. yes I've seen ppl say there's fan translations, but how accurate are those sometimes. I dont care if we get a 2nd season, it'd be nice of course, but atleast get the story translated and published. it's satanic what they did.

@Morningstar991 In that case, I hope you enjoy! All 14 of the novels are fan-translated.

@kalebsmoker I agree, but at least the fan TLs are edited and readable. They're not just illegible MTL. I still had a great time reading the story through them. The fan translators definitely put a lot of time into it.

@kalebsmoker I'm not sure if I'm allowed to send links, but all you need to search in google is "skythewood translations alderamin." It's the first link that pops up.
