MAPPA making anime about animators is so ironic. I can't be the only one here who noticed this right?

Off topic but I'm kinda confused why MAPPA is taking another project when they should've been busy with csm movie and jjk season 3. I'd rather have them focus on these two and not overwork their animators again. But what do I know ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป‍โ™€๏ธ

@aru4l Maybe because JJK isn't the only anime on the market :D New shows should be made at all times otherwise we will be stuck with the same 5 shows at all times which will grow boring, JJK being one of them

It's an anime about director overcoming creative block maybe you should properly watch the trailer before taking shit

It's ironic but I'm shocked this managed to survive pre-production meetings. I hope this follows Shirobako and also shows us current industry issues, since they're known for that.

I can imagine this anime being Shirobako but even more intense, since our main character is a series director instead of a production assistant.

@aru4l I'd take this over CSM and JJk any day of the week. CSM S1 was good for the first 6 episodes then got a bit boring but overall was good however JJk was repetitive as hell for the most part and the best arc legit didn't even last half a cour, though I gotta give it to the animation for JJK. The animation is really good especially compared to the manga which has rather ass illustrations at times

@aru4l They have like the second most in house animators in the industry I'm pretty sure, I think they're just slightly behind Toei Animation (Toei pours most their staff into One Piece though for obvious reasons which is why that shit looks so good then leaves the rest working on things like Daima, and the movies they release). MAPPA probably has the space to do side projects like this due to the amount of staff they have, this doesn't even include the freelance animators that they have access too to work on things like CSM and JJK.

Their production has also slowly gone down in the last year anyway, they're animating less and less shows probably in preparation for the big series.

This is isekai right? So Mappa encouraging it's overburdened animators to off themselves and hope they reincarnate in the fantasy world they created?

Jokes aside, Mappa has like 10 production teams now up from 3/5. However, each IP(AoT, JJK, CSM) are worked on by a constant team. That causes the crunch in those select lines.

I think it's like the third anime about overworked animators that MAPPA produced in recent years. It really does seem like a cry for help at this point XD

When it was announced, I thought it would be a 'damn good social critique' about the Japanese animation industry and how many studios treat their animators like slaves (ironic, right MAPPA?), but from the trailer, there’s isekai involved?... The protagonist faints and wakes up in the fantasy world she herself created... Interesting, from my interpretation, maybe the plot is that she will be the one to direct the story of that world and consequently how that story will end... Or maybe I’m totally wrong and just said a bunch of nonsense lol.

@Mari_Marx I think the point is how isekai is treated as escapism, first by anime watchers, and now by intradiegetic mangakas, animators, or directors experiencing overwork or writer's slump. Though I might be reading too much into it.

@FluffyFlareon indeed, i admit i'm a bit sick of isekai/tensei, but i respect who likes. but for me, i prefer just the first ones of the genre, since it was a new thing that time.

That is not where the irony ends LMAO

MAPPA, the studio most under fire for overworking it's animators, making an anime about an overworked animator getting isekaid due to overworking!

Seriously, what is the message here? "We can overwork our animators cuz if anything goes wrong they'll get isekaid into their fav anime <3"

Who approved this? Do MAPPA higher ups really lack that much selfawareness??

@DigiCat By the way, Mappa is healthier than other studios right now: Ranma season 2 is over, Csm will probably be Yoshihara's healthiest production, Verbara movie is also finished etc... In short, my friend, the point is that you don't know anything, rather than being destitute

I think that's because you're an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable individual.

A (very) special boy, that gets his information about companies and their inner workings off random internet conversations, he's never a part of and therefore detects irony like nobody else ^^

@feyyazu35 I never said MAPPA was the studio that treats it's animators the worst, but that it is the one that's been most publicly under fire is the truth

Regardless of if other studios are worse or not, putting out an anime about your overworked animators getting isekaid (and we all know how isekai works) when your own studio's working conditions have been exposed is, frakly, extreamly tasteless

@Merve2Love you're such a sad individual for ignoring the factual terrible working conditions at that dogshit studio and mock people who point that out in your pathetic attempt to support them lmfao

@nwssx

Yup^^

Im sure you're quite educated on japanes society, work rate and economy

Im also preeeeeeeetty sure that instead of just repeating stuff you read or seen on the internet, you also then expanded your already vast knowledge of these things with solid research on MAPPAS business practices and compared them with other Japanes companies

Furthermore Im DAMN sure you're fighting everyday to do something about this. You're absouletes NOT stealing the products these people make and then sit your ample ass down on the couch to bitch about the company you steal from and know nothing about, in a virtue signalling way ;)

I feel pathetic even questioning these facts. You're right. My Bad. ^^

I mean... PA works showed about creating back with Shirobako, but were shilling NFTs for a while. The director for CSM season 1 now has his own studio, and is shilling AI despite being a world class animator in his own right.

This just has an Animator who's working, and dies from food poisoning, which is kind of tame in terms of irony.

What staff between this show and JJK/CSM do they share?

Mitsue Yamazaki is the director for many episodes of Attack on Titan, the animation producer had Bucchigiri, character designer didn't even participate in JJK/CSM, and it doesn't even have the same CG team.
