As much as I dislike Envy, I felt sorry for him in his sluglike tiny form, lol.

Roy almost became engulfed in the flames of revenge to the point where he had to be stopped by Edward, Hawkeye and Scar out of all people and it's good that they did what they did because if he ever takes over as Fuhrer President after he got his revenge, he'll just be Wrath 2.0.

While it was amusing to watch Envy desperately try to rile up everyone in the room without getting a reaction because of how sick everyone is towards the chain of hatred they've been burdened with all this time, I can't help but pity him when he realized that he envies humans this whole time so much that he ends up killing himself out of shame and sorrow.

Alex might just get a chance at inheriting the Armstrong estate if he keeps that up~ Hohenheim and Flasky's fight is right at the corner!

Mustang was almost consumed by the flames of revenge because of someone insignificant, good thing he had friends.

In the end, Envy just kills himself.

Armstrong is really OP against Sloth

This is honestly one of the best episodes of FMAB and possibly my favorite. I don't care what people think of envy. His death was the saddest I've seen out of others. It was masterfully executed. It sucks that people missed the message of empathy rather than being sympathetic towards others.

Why did everyone go full-on retard when Mustang went to kill Envy (I know why. I'm not asking for an answer). I get their reasoning, but holy shit do I disagree with them entirely lol. Didn't feel any pity for Envy either. Like you killed countless people and brought so much ruin. But behind all the hate, you were actually jealous lel. Ye ok nerd.

Now that my frustrations are outta the way, I liked everything else in the ep. The whole Mustang burning Envy to a crisp, Armstrong beating Sloth's cheeks, and the ending scene with Hohenheim.

Overall, a mix of high-quality shit I loved, but also stupid shit I personally hated.

i had been wondering about riza's back and now we have the answer - her guilt for ishbal caused her to ask roy to burn it.

OMG RIZA LOVE HER envy you fool lmaoooo but this is the most expressive and the most frightening i have ever seen mustang. i suppose we all knew he had it in him, especially when it comes to protecting the ones close to him, but wow. it's still a little scary how close he came to being totally consumed by revenge.

envy's death was GREAT i loved it. he was such a good character, one of my favourites, because he spent the whole show just acting like a total dick. but it turns out, underneath that cocky veneer, he was envious of humans and their resilience, and he was too proud and embarrassed to ever admit it. what a fall from grace. what an ending. it was quite poignant.

also it was so nice to have a huge chunk of the episode dedicated to envy and mustang, without cutting to other scenes. it was so much more enjoyable to watch and made it even more effective for me to see envy slowly deteriorate

love the armstrongs' dynamic. and when alex used sloth to relocate his shoulder LOL

IZUMI love her! and i just realised, a couple of episodes ago they showed her shoes, but it never clicked for me that it was her!!

looks like things are about to come to a head now, hohenheim and father have finally reunited

where is alphonse i hope he is ok

and edward elric you are a cool cat look at how much you have grown in this show omg

rewatched episode 53 and this one because they are two of the best episodes of the whole show for me. incredibly intense with drama and amazing action but full of character moments. and it's a testament to how incredible the characters are that the scene was almost 20 minutes straight but i didn't get bored once

i can't get over envy. he was genuinely terrified of mustang (as he should be) and the power balance completely switched so he was at the mercy of a human. it was SUCH a good way to end his character, i'm so satisfied with it. i loved seeing how he was reduced to something so pathetic and pitiful in the end, how all his bravado and ego just disappeared once he understood himself for the first time. of course he was envious of humans, it makes all his scorn for them make so much more sense. in a weird way, part of me almost felt sorry for him when he started crying

also edward! how perceptive has he become? his growth in this show has been astonishing, he has become more understanding, cooperative, intelligent, but has never lost sight of what is important to him. love that kid.

and!! seeing mustang literally fighting himself to control his destructive instincts was so powerful, but it shows his strength and resolve that he was able to realise the path he was heading towards and stop himself. can't believe he didn't at least give riza a hug but what to do

the armstrongs are cool too #teamolivier

Damn, this episode was able to make me care about Maes Hughes in just one scene even though he hasn't been around for a while. I almost teared up, tbh.

I love Envy's characterization and tearful breakdown. Insecurity really does write an ugly story, and they had one that was so deep-rooted that it was the motivator for all of their actions. In their true worm-like form all Envy could do was try to manipulate those "foolish humans" into fighting and killing each other, but this time it didn't work.

But y'know, even with all the deplorable shit Envy did like killing a man (Maes Hughes) who had everything 'cause they had nothing, I still can't help but feel sorry for them. The type of connections and relationships they wish they had is something they envy in humans.

Alex Armstrong popped his shoulder back into place using Sloth's punch! Radical! And let's not forget Izumi's entrance!

If this is not the 5/5 episode then what is the 5/5 episode?
Father's and Van's meeting was just as epic as envy's speech.

I like the question being raised of whether an action is motivated by justice or vengeance / hatred but I wish they had led up to it better so that it could be addressed in a more nuanced manner. It was good for Ed to point out Envy's envy, but they should have had Hawkeye shoot Envy since the monologue didn't do anything but waste time.

So, you're trying to persuade me that getting beaten up by a monster, even with a chain at times, is somehow more restorative than traditional shoulder reduction, which I've heard is very painful? Consider me unpersuaded. I'd rather see Armstrong (Major) dead, and he is the likeable Armstrong sibling.

Fantastic episode. Mustang's rage at Envy before Hawkeye, Ed and Scar stopped him from killing Envy was superbly animated. So goddamn intense, and only became more brutal when Envy committed suicide due to being envious of humans and their bonds, despite all the trouble and problems in the world that they have gone through - like with Mustang and Scar not attacking each other despite going through the Ishvalan war as enemies with each other.

Izumi Curtis showing up at Central too as an alchemist was so sweet. Tons of badass entrances have happened in Brotherhood, can't even count it as this point. Central forces are crumbling minute by minute against the rebels.

Father and Hohenheim also meet each other underground. Should be interesting to see them in the upcoming episode, nice cliffhanger.

Envy death was sad despite he's a brat lol. But I don't like how anti-revenge this show is. Hughes was Roy best friend, how is that "a selfish revenge"? Do u expect to someone to not be so angry at Envy for killing him? its something pretty normal. I dislike this anime portrayal of revenge. And that comparasion with Scar is not a good example since they're two very different situations.

Also, they just made a radio broadcasting before and they even hid the secret about the Homunculus to the people, so Riza comment about good leadership is out of place in this episode.

One of the most epic fights on FULL METAL ALCHEMIST , with the sountrack "the intrepit" wow this is an execution, 12 year old anime and still one of the best animation scenes !!!!

The other peak was episode 19 ... roy is indeed the best alchemist around, he has the most op attack and for a reason RIZA asked him to burn her back, the world can not have another flame alchemist

Man of all the ways I thought Envy would die, this was the most fitting. I felt pity for him, who all this time envied humans and their strong bonds with each other. He couldn't have that as a homunculus. Maybe he killed himself to find what he was yearning for.

Nice try at making Mustang look like he has a dark side ig, I'd rather they just cut the melodrama to fix the pacing that's all over the place rn. I mean seriously, who gives a shit if he's giving into his anger over a lizard, just remind him later after they find Father, which is the biggest priority atm

Speaking of this, the fact that all this crap ties into Father in the end makes it more justifiable that Hohenheim should have been the mc this whole time. I mean seriously, I still don't understand how this whole military plot and saving the world shit ties into Ed and Al getting their bodies back, or why it's important that the homunculi represent sins or how that's possible

Envy's final rant was a little long-winded but I guess it served as a good character moment for Roy
I do find it a little odd though how no one had any issue with Roy burning Lust to a crisp earlier in the series but now that his conflict with one of the Homunculi is personal... it's an issue of giving into the rage

Shocked, didn't expect Envy to pretend to be Mustang. Luckily Riza knew that the one she met was suspicious. Honestly, I don't know what to say about Mustang vs Envy's "fight" because Mustang was really burning with anger and didn't give Envy any room to move. It was very satisfying to me and as much as I wanted Envy to die, I think they all made a wise decision by holding Mustang back from killing him. This is what differentiate Mustang from Olivier (as they both wanted to reach the highest position in the military). I like both of them though.

Speaking of Olivier, her younger brother Alex Armstrong is EXCELLENT AND ELEGANT!!! Hahaha. Poor Sloth, he just wants to sleep and laze around, too bad he was created as a homunculus :(

Ah, but I'm annoyed that Envy killed himself. Tch. I want him to die miserably slowly. Well at least he cried.. yep.. that Envy! Crying! Cry and crawl on the ground, Envy!

Now.. Hohenheim vs Homunculus..
