Anyone else not really hearing too much of a significant difference from Eiko's singing from EP1 to Ep9? Like i get that
. Am I just supposed to be taking in the emotional setting of the scene and imagine that more is happening than what is in reality? Thoughts?

Ah yeah, I did pick that up early on, that makes sense. But just generally, comparing all the times she sang "I'm Still Alive Today", I generally didn't hear any significant change in the way it is sung - even in the last episode.

You won't see a difference because everything is auto-tuned and compressed to hell, which is the industry standard. I would even argue that there is only one recording of the performance and they copy paste it whenever they need it.

I was gonna say that maybe perhaps her purpose for singing is what truly changed, but that's not exactly right either because she sung because that was her passion, and that's still pretty much the same as of the most recent episode. As for her actual singing, idc how musically-inclined you are, it's the same. That's why I thought it was total BS for the guy in the recording studio to tell Eiko to "find her voice." She was already a good singer, and that's all he should care about. Or maybe they're just trying to make him look like a good guy with a heart in contrast to the manager of the rival-idol-group-which-I-forgot-the-name who is probably only after money.

But yeah her singing seems exactly the same, this whole "finding your voice" thing is bs, but it's okay. It helped bring out the emotion at the end of episode 9, and that's what really matters.

I feel like this is quite common in anime involving music they have no way of creating the emotions needed for surround performance so really we are just supposed to take in other character’s reactions and go with that as fact. It kind of the same as how we have accepted that her singing is special to begin with at least enough for it to have grabbed Konming’s attention we just have to take the character’s word for it

Hibike Euphonium does an amazing job creating emotions through their performance and if you have experience in playing an instrument, it’s easy to tell which trumpet player performed the same solo better.

Imo 96 neko’s performance is too good to tell the subtle difference between each of the performance. Like it’s very good from the start, so there’s not much of a difference when Eiko supposedly found her voice

Meh, I wouldn't say the performances have been auto-tuned, but that's just me

Honestly even if there wasn't any difference in the actual voice but still the aura, the development and the vibe were quite different this time especially for me, this show as all say that it was a Kongming trap to entrap us but we can't leave just because of Eiko singing, now it really made more sense to me after this episode to me

Too many of the same song lol

And yes it's like the way she sings in the ep 9 is COMPLETELY different (and I know it's a different VA)

i wished she just singed the opening song instead, you can hear that song for hours an not get annoyed by it, unlike her current song, which is good but not that good

Yeah, in fact, I found that her singing degraded as the episode went on. I dropped this at episode 9 because I didn't have the courage to hear her sing again.

i think the singing was decent maybe because 96neko is doing the singing thats where the bias is coming from.

You'd have to have some pretty A-grade music direction to pull a change of singing to "finding your voice" in a show.

The singing in this anime has been made me cringing a lot tbh. Especially when they tryna made it seems like there's something groundbreaking happening while the performance itself is average(again, for me personally). I absolutely agree with your point, I also can't find any difference.

I feel like they didn't think that us as a viewer can also judge something by ourselves. I think a good music anime don't need a fictional characters in the story to dictate us what's good what's bad, etc. This show relying too much on character exposition and I think that's bad. They should give more attention to the actual singing content.

Good example is Hibike Euphonium. Man I'm not even a orchestra musician but I can tell which one is a good performance, which one is bad, and which one is better in comparison.
