Gonna make this pretty later if I feel like it. Technically this is my second profile. I can't access my original one anymore. Also, my favorites are lined like this to just give an accurate portrayal of the kind of anime I like. Not everything is a 10/10 to me as you can see from my list.
I base my ratings off critical assessment and personal enjoyment. If your average ratings are 4.2 or lower, I'm going to actually be somewhat concerned you're torturing yourself with anime/manga and need emotional help or a new hobby.
All the anime and manga that I watch and read are fully in Japanese. I have zero experience with reading manga translations and I haven't watched an English sub in years, let alone an English dub. This isn't to make myself look amazing, but rather to give you an idea of where I'm coming from as an enthusiast. My experience with any series will not be reflective of anyone's translation.
Das it. Hope to meet people on here and find more great stuff to watch/read.
Btw, I love FMAB as much as most others on this site, but if you have to downvote other anime just to maintain your favorite staying at number 1, maybe your favorite anime doesn't deserve it as much as you think it does.
Rating System (According to my personal taste; I think I got it figured out):
10: Something I find truly unique that astounded me in every way. This comes at the highest of my recommended. This place is also reserved for anime that I connected deeply with, like BECK which I consider to be my favorite anime. This type of situation will not apply to everybody, and I understand that. But in my case, it had something extra special that drove me to put it this high.
9: Something that blew my mind or I just found to be exceptionally high quality. Not quite worthy of a 10, but something that with a little improvement could be a masterpiece.
8: Something I really greatly enjoyed. Every second was enjoyable but there were some flaws or components to it that prevented it from getting any higher. Still recommended to those with an interest.
7: Something I enjoyed. I liked it enough to want to continue watching another season and maybe even a second time, but there are obvious cracks in the pavement that can't be overlooked.
6: Something I simply liked. A 60-69% is technically a passing grade even if the content is muddled in deficits that drag it down. I would consider watching another season of this at the very least.
5: Something very average. This is where my scores start to get negative. If the series is a 5, then I didn't care for it at all but didn't necessarily find it bad. It may have been boring or just not had enough for me to want to watch more. Or in a special case like School Days, I respect it for being what it is and think a fair amount of it is competent, but hate the rest.
4: Something bad. I didn't like the series, but there were some quality traits that I did enjoy about it. I wouldn't consider picking it up again in the future unless visible improvements were made.
3: Something really bad. I won't knock you or anyone else for liking it, but this is far from what I'd call a good time. There was just enough good things to keep it from sinking any further, but I wouldn't go near this series again.
2: Something awful. You have to be a very particular fan to enjoy whatever I ranked a 2, but that's your taste and not mine. The quality is very bad here and there are maybe only one or two things holding it up from dropping to a 1.
1: Something horrible. Your taste is your taste, but damn I do not respect whatever I give this score to at all.

The character designs and visual storytelling is provided by the manga, the anime adds animation, colors, voice acting and sound. So you have a show with good production values but the designs are flat and the visual storytelling is unimaginative because it stays true to the source material, which is subpar in those areas. It's as superficial as it gets. A pig with nice makeup is still a pig.
"try writing in a way that gets your point across better"
That's fair if you think so, but I have no plans of appealing to the lowest common denominator with my reviews. I will keep writing in a way that demands some common sense from the reader. Trying to persuade the fanboys and hypetards is wasted effort as their minds are already set on hyping the show and fighting anything that's not giving into the hype.
Also, I don't hate Oshi no Ko. I feel indifferent towards it.
