THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Mia REGiNA's OP is fine.

Hosomichi can't believe his sights that Japan (at least for Akihabara) is decimated and filled with weirdos (even robot Rin needs cosplay to pilot the Shark One Garanndoll), and the robot side of things into Arahabaki of an underground city, and battery mech girls like Rin are adored like hardcore Otakus whom had their culture be ripped by Neo-colonalist Showa Era "True Army" militants. Those rubber people look like Bananas in Pyjamas Eggplants in Worksuits. Playboy Hosomichi, hmm.

This Illusory Country where the remnants of Otakudom are left with the people of Arahabaki, it's a sorry sight for those protecting what they have left. But Hosomichi finds all that to be annoysome, but he really has no choice and no say. But it's definitely weird to see the General Tanaka mascot which spews out money and orders left and right, Hosomichi has no way out of this contraption but to help them in the Akihabara revival, being heavily in debt.

The mech designs give me SD Gundam vibes, and the battles are anything but ordinary...well, most of the mecha fights are, but kinda lack passion like Rin does.

Still really don't know what to think of this one...felt like a lot of weird ideas that somehow mesh together to create the final product.

The weird shit is what draws me to this show, it also seems very self-aware of that too.

Balzac almost has the same energy as Koutarou from Zomblieland Saga. lol

Pretty good episode, we already hit initial drama. I really hope the MC will put away that fake persona because it's super irritating.

Otaku-themed mecha anime.

Didn't watch many mecha series before, but I'm pretty sure the mecha design looks weird. The fight is even weirder. Luckily, they self-aware of that. So, it's forgiven, probably.

Work Reverse hoe mode -which only occurred when he felt pressured by the loan shark- cost the MC the trust from the battery girl. Mainly because he can't look properly in that mode (Imagine trading function for looks, only pessimist does that). Hope the MC realized his mistake and abandon that mode for good.

There is still many untold information. Can't wait to hear more of it.

Looks like it's gonna be an underrated anime.

I think the anime is foreshadowing Munakata betraying the rebels:

Then the scene in the bathroom where he threatens Hosomichi. I believe it all points at that he shouldn't be trusted

Shark One manifests when Rin is the battery girl because her favourite series is Zaburn. But it hypothetically could use any holographic projection (which is where the other battery girl characters come in).

It'd be worse for them if it directly depended on both the pilot and the battery girl's passions as Hosomichi is not being sincere. Last episode he used his skills as a host to motivate Rin. In this episode he tries the same trick again after being pressured by Munakata, but Rin realizes he isn't sincere about it.

I think if he revealed the Zaburn action figure he had in the brief flash back, that might get them back on track.

Hosomichi commented on his favorite anime along with the person he was talking to and really and an anime he was fascinated to put the opening on his phone ring.

Although this episode did have some action and movement and interactions with the characters.

My highlights of today's episode were the miniature gyaru moai statue, the brand new robodon and bit Rin.
Oh, and also the statue of liberty's glowing eyes when it was activated.

I'm trying not to get mecha mood whiplash between watching AMAIM and then this, lol.

But, I have high hopes for this show's over the top humor. It'll definitely be a show that's memeable, if nothing else.

I still don't know what to think of the loan shark character. Why didn't he die in episode one (as in, what do the writers intend to use him for)? Will he be played straight, and turn out to be a villain? Or is he actually some anti-hero, tough love, older brother character who surprisingly has Hosomichi's best interests in mind (and has terrible ways of showing it)?

Ayy the opening looks nice already, and seems like there's other battery girl than Rin. Not expected that the hacker girl from the previous episode to also be another battery girl. The opening really giving me all the spoiler, eh? I wonder what kind of story they get when they meet each other. It must be fun. So, bruh, our playboy mc really get all the cute girls. He should've been more proud about that, be more motivate to live his new lifes there, even though there's a lot of weirdos around, even their top person also a total weirdo with that dang costume. But, at least you get all the cute girl, my mate! So, yeah, stop lying to yourself, and burn their lust passion!

No mecha fight this time. But that part when they throwing some random shit to gunned down the airship and its 'flying' doll. So high, beyond the sky, no wonder its feels fun shit.

This show is great, it's the ANTI-Evangelion. That wants otaku to reject escapism whereas this wants you to embrace it, you can't even power your mecha unless you are sincerely enthusiastic about anime LOL

Well I can at least give this anime props for just trying to be a fun time. It’s energy can even be infectious at times and help with the delivery of some jokes. My praise ends there, however. The writing is one of those “overtly reference clichés but still do them” shows, so there is nothing exciting on that front. Everything aside from it’s energy is subpar. That places a lot of burden on it to carry the entire show while also not getting repetitive or tiring. We’ll see if it’s up to the task.

i eventually realized this anime is made with a 90's vibe on purpose because no animes nowadays are involved with kanji literature anymore and certainly new generation japanese are more fond of katakana.

Good episode.

I like the theme and general atmosphere of this show. I feel like we haven't had an Akihabara/otaku culture worship anime in a while so it's somewhat refreshing.

The characters are unique and interesting and the tension and drama between the characters are complex. Hopefully they continue to build off of that.

Awesome OP.
So wacky Yamato as narrator, the resistance all weirdos & General puking money just wat.
Nice to see True army & internal disagreements.
Loved the robodon, well they using each other, but too bad battery fails in that fake relationship. Omg stunt wires and Lady Liberty lazer, they haven't faught for real but still amusing.

Basically a middle aged male Japanese animator fetish fulfillment show so far. Deeper than it looks but not quite deep enough, the characters being little more than gimmicks undermine everything

Still I do think it's better than a 6.43 on MAL (I'd give it a 6 personally)

The characters have more dimension to them than anything else I'm watching this season. the main character struggling with cynicism and debt and having a job is great compared to your average modern anime blank slate idiot. the girl is more conventional, yet has fun motivations and personality, and a good design to her. Their dynamic is good. I'm a bit worried that these things won't be carried beyond the first couple episodes before shifting focus to the other battery girls, but so far I'm very happy with the show's writing tbh.

Ooh I like the opening song, definitely fits the genres of the anime too. I'm guessing Rin can tell that's not Hosomichi's true personality or something. Either way, defo excited for the next episode. Also love the little shark transition from scene to scene

Well, that was to be expected of Rin, she already noticed how indifferent Hosomichi is earlier the moment he labeled Rin's painting earlier as their favorite character (forgot the name) when it actually has Hosomichi's name on it. From blushing to disappointment. I can't wait for their relationship to take a turn.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

So far I like the crazy stuff like the suit being just cosplay, the 'flying mecha' being suspended from cables and having Tanaka as the trustworthy leader.
