That was a very tense episode. So we have Adam vs. Lagna(Adam vs. Eve) for the finals. Can Lagna help Adam rekindle his love for skateboarding?

I really like this episode, we saw Reki having fun with skateboarding, and we also saw the parallels between him and Adam. I was not expecting the beef to happen like it did but I was impressed with the character development prevalent during the beef. I am looking forward to the last episode and hopefully a season 2.

Reki has definitely improved, to the point where he embarrassed ADAM, and he almost beat him as well.

Tadashi has changed his plans, and he hopes that Langa can snap ADAM back to humanity.

I keep thinking about this episode and just really like how they brought together the whole thing where they're trying to show that everyone skates in their own way. For Reki, it was using the way he can mod the heck out of a skateboard. He's been downplaying it for so long, but this episode allowed that very specific talent of his to shine. He's always been like, "Ehhh it's nothing", but his skills with modification allowed him to be toe to toe with ADAM, which is no easy feat! So I enjoy the message that they've, more or less, been pushing all this time: find your strength. Reki didn't have confidence in his skills because he didn't have confidence in his strengths. And now that he's found out how to use his strengths, he's found that he can have fun again, because his style of skating is still his.

Like, I'm seriously over here changing my way of thinking about life over here. I mentioned in episodes before that I had the similar struggles as Reki. I'm happy to think about all of this in a different way now.

Eh, Reki's comeback to S and Tadashi stepping out of the tournament gave me mixed feelings, although it's mostly dissatisfaction due to how they were handled. It could've been far better. At least I had hoped that Reki would apologize to Miya, for both breaking his promise and for brushing him off like that in the elevator. Maybe in the next EP, it'd be nice.

On the bright side, Cherry's laugh was really cute ;; and seeing almost everyone (except for poor Shadow) together again did make me smile.

Finally, Reki gets his redemption arc. Although it was predictable that the final beef will be between Adam and Langa, I'm glad that they made Reki finally shine. He embarrassed Adam pretty hard and was the real winner of the race, imo.

Side note: If I hear that cat kid say "slime" one more time, I'll slap him through the screen lol

I had this urge to hit Adam with his skateboard. He really crossed his limit in this episode. I can't sympathize with him because of his past.

Seeing Adam trip like that was a sight to see. He deserved it but actually he deserves more than just tripping. Why is hitting your opponent to the point they bleed even allowed?

Anyway, Reki's performance was so good. He improved a lot. It's good to see him having fun skating.

I hope Adam realizes and regrets his past actions. But even if he realizes, people will still continue to curse him.

Tadashi says only Langa can bring back Adam's love for skating, so there will definitely be a Langa VS Adam beef but I really want to see Tadashi VS Adam.

The whiplash I get when reading Adam discourse is truly something lol. Got me feeling very "Oh, y'all actually hate Adam? Damn, I thought it was jokes(and that we understood that his character is literally meant to bring chaos, madness and confusion to the narrative)."

Alas, here's to anticipating a Utsumi's magic hands-infused finale.

Feels like some people can't enjoy one simple match, like what was wrong with the rain? I didn't see that one coming and despite Reki losing, he had shit ton of fun despite all the punches he got from ADAM. We ain't searching for realism in this series, I thought everything was clear from the start. I am just happy Reki is back to his old self and got ADAM to be humiliated despite him winning, how can that match be boring?

Agreed. Reki's smart. He's not like Joe, he can't use brute muscle to kick off against rocks and propel. He's not like Cherry who uses an AI to help calculate when it comes to turns. He's not like Miya who's a young prodigy with the physical skills. He's not like Langa who has snowboarding background that gives him a bit of an advantage. He's not like Shadow or Adam who play dirty.

But, that's just it. He's not them. He's Kyan Reki. He knows how to design and customise boards to help give someone an advantage. He would know to keep an eye on the weather reports and be prepared for if it was supposed to rain during a beef, fixing his board accordingly. I mean, he gave Langa's board the same length as a snowboard, the toe clips and the rotating trucks which helped him grow from a beginner who struggled to stay on a skateboard for more than a few seconds to an absolute legend in a short span of time.

Reki also had the advantage of having friends who knew what's what. He was able to learn moves that his friends had used by watching them or by remembering not to flinch like Joe taught him when he and Cherry were teaching him and Langa about how the Love Hug works.

Everything he had been through had built up to this moment, even his time where he doubted himself and lost self-confidence. He grew through that too and was able to face everything without any doubt, knowing doubting himself at such a time would be dangerous...it already happened the first time he went against Adam and found himself feeling overwhelmed.

He's the sort to use his brain to plan for any and all circumstances and then find a way to put them to an advantage.

Agreed I don't understand why proly are complaining about Reki's arc and him moaning for 4 episodes. Like can we get over it? I mean what are these guys suggesting to have happened? He's all cool? He has no feelings? Please bring better suggestions than the same complain about Reki's 4 episodes. I thought this was the best route they could do for him. With what was given in the story, he's the protagonist ffs what else do y'all want him to do?

I'd say they totally should have reversed the first and second arc of his development. But that would have made a grim start of the series.

Like it is it feels backgrounds: cocky at the start making promises of the never straying from his friends because of skill level, then he losses to Adam and his really scared of him or him hurting more friends, then he gets back up and faces Adam with zero doubts??? Man just blasted his skate to cherry's chest and leave him (i guess temporary) in wheel chairs; doesn't that scare him? I guess he has no normal human being feelings

That said, I did enjoy the battle and animation, just the build up to it felt pretty irreal. Add to that the fact that Reki just took a seat in the tournament and nobody said nothing. If it was an exhibition match it wouldn't have mattered, but they said if he win he goes vs Langa. Oh well, whatever.

For real. This match was so dumb. Reki's sudden power-ups, then him up and becoming popular in S just like he always wanted, then losing to who's quite possibly the best skater of their era by just a hairsbreadth, and that too only cos his wheel broke... Talk about standard teenage boy's fantasy. Boring!

Exactly.
I actually don't mind the powerup IF ep7~10 Reki struggle arc doesn't exist.
They could have make Reki a talented from get go to justify ep11.

But instead we wasted 4 episodes to build up Reki's struggle as a "normal person".
And ep10 he finally learned that he shouldn't try to compare himself with others, and doesn't need to be a prodigy to have fun with skateboard. I mean there's a reason he drop out of S for good, because that is just a toxic place with abusive people.

But then ep11 just show us Reki is one of the talented all along, and get famous in S now. So why waste 4 episodes on the moaning then?

I was thinking the theme of the previous 4 episodes is so good, and this episode totally ruins it. It just goes back to the generic protagonist must win with power of friendship trope.

Exactly! I see all the Reki Lovers are popping up out of the woodwork and going "Waah, too sad for you, our boy is still Best Boy!" But...then what the actual F were episodes 7-10 about? If he really is Standard Shounen Best Boy, then he should have realised he was falling behind around ep 6, trained, entered the tournament fair-and-square while challenging Langa to meet him in the finals, and worked his bloody way up the ranks and showcased his skills in the semi-final against Adam (whether he won or lost in the end).

Instead, he gave up on skateboarding, moped around and wasted all that screentime making me wanna rip my hair out in annoyance, and then just up and improved enough to challenge Adam and match Langa's level in a couple of weeks, gained the power of cheers, friendship, and protagonist favouritism, got shoehorned into the semifinal not through his own ability, but because of some random ass-pull attack on Shadow, and nearly won!?

Are you kidding me, people? This is crap storytelling. Either they make him a standard shounen boy who works his way up through training and a bit of talent, or they go a unique route and drive home the point that being The Best and being Popular are not everything. I would have been okay with either route. But SK8 didn't wanna choose just one route. Nope, it wanted to have its cake and eat it too. And, well, it worked! Because your average anime-viewer knows F-all about good storytelling and character development, this steaming trainwreck of conflicting characterisation and mixed messages actually has a rating of 8.03 on MAL. (And said rating actually started to go up the more and more nonsensical and haphazard the "plot" became. Smh.)

This was great, once again the show continues to provide both great skate competition and animation and also solid emotional drama. The drama had been heavy for awhile there but seeing Reki happy again and trying his best to skate, while also not being upset by the close loss is perfect to heal the soul after all the sadness in the last few episodes.

Looking forward to the conclusion, although I almost feel like it would of been better if Reki had beat him. A final Langa vs. Reki match would of been really nice to get the focus on almost a full episode while a ruined ADAM returns to his real life and gets all that mess sorted out, maybe I'm being too harsh of ADAM but the show did a good job of making me hate him, I don't want him to also get a happy ending.

He did show his struggles in episode 6 though. His self-doubt was already coming through and he was already expressing his fear of being left behind by the others. Langa went back for him and gave him a little hope, but then after he saw for himself how Langa just kept getting better, he started to feel like eventually, even Langa would leave him behind. He couldn't train in episode 6 because he was still recovering from his first beef against Adam, Langa outright telling him "you're recovering, anything too extreme is forbidden". Basically, all Reki was allowed to do was just ride his board because less chance of making his injuries worse.

In episode 7, we saw him trying again, and again, and again to reach that star that Langa touched seemingly flawlessly, but it wasn't happening. Add to the remarks he'd heard at S when his confidence was already starting to drop, whether the nobodies saying he's the redheaded nobody who hangs around Snow or the casual teasing from Shadow and Miya (both who didn't actually mean it maliciously since they were just being friends ribbing on another friend, not realising their teasing was hitting an actual soft spot), and that was it.

What was slowing Reki down though was mostly his lack of confidence. I bet if he tried now, he'd actually be a lot closer to touching that star.

Also, that comment about how regular anime viewers don't know anything about storytelling is actually really rude and uncalled for. Did you have to make that attack just because you personally feel like Reki had just gotten a basic shounen protagonist power-up?

Compare him to say, Takao/Tyson from Beyblade. Remember he won pretty much every major match he was in? Even against characters he had no chance over?

Whereas Reki hasn't done that. In fact, he came close to beating Adam but lost by an inch because his wheel had come loose and fallen off. The point for him had always been SKATING IS FUN, it was why he was always so enthusiastic about it when talking about it to Langa and when they were watching videos together and all. It was never really about winning to him. He'd lost that along the way but found it again after realising what he really wants.

No, I don't think you're being too harsh towards Adam. I want him to face the consequences for what he had done, I want his aunts to face the consequences for what they'd made him do. He needs to be locked away and while there, he can be rehabilitated through the trauma of the abuse he was dealt so he at least has a chance when released...though if he could also be kept away from minors, that'd be great.

S's spectators must be of the most bipolar ones I have seen in "spokon" anime. ADAM went from being their god to a clown just because he lost control over his board due to sudden bad weather.

Overall, not the execution I was expecting but it was nice to see Reki finally proving his worth.

Tadashi forfeiting is a disappointment tho. I mean, what about all the buildup we got about him being the only one who could bring old Ainosuke back?

Hahaha, thats pretty funny but and also an awful idea. At least next time they use a skate for assaulting somebody in a movie/TV we can say it's a SK8 reference.

My suspension of desbelief was killed last episode when adam attacked Cherry, and now this episode Reki accepts the challenge, everyone just goes with it although reki hadn't even participated in the tournament, and nobody knew who he was...

Yeah, people just let adam do whatever he wants because of reasons, also he magically regained control of his skate even though it was already rainning outside and won the beef, again just because.

I can't believe in the story anymore :x

Ahhhh I was a nervous wreck during this episode X) I was so worried for Reki DX Like ouch man...and when Adam tried to do the same thing he did to Cherry >:( I'm glad Reki managed to get away, and that Adam ate shit haha.

You go Reki!!! You did good.(Very awesome when he skated off the mountain in his own way, and his cool tires). And I totally started crying since I was so happy people were finally calling him by his name :') It was nice to see everyone waiting for him at the finish line, and make sure Adam couldn't try anything else when the race was over.

Tadashi/Snake finally realize that Adam needs to love skating again..let's see how things go. And I hope the manipulative old women rot away somewhere (que se vayan a la chingada).

Miya about Adam "that evil overlord!"

Holy crap, that jump Reki did and smart move to put the rain wheels on.

I do not feel bad for people laughing at Adam, he put Cherry in a wheelchair and tried to smash Reki. He's brutal and ruthless. Plus people were laughing at Reki and bullying him, he endured and got over it. I'm sure they were all laughed at at some point or another.

Kinda disappointed that Tadashi forfeited. He really think that the perfect match for his asshole master is Langa? In the first place, he was the one who brought Adam in that place, he should also be the one to settle down everything. The only person who could put adam in his right place is Tadashi.
