I thought that Yuru Camp was showing a lot of similarities to K-On. With the announcement of a season 2 + movie . . . just like K-On. This is all just speculation, but do you think it might throw us a K-On type thing where they are going to make us cry and all?

Well this is just my opinion on it. Since K-On's first season was like Yuru Camp's first season where it was just CGDCT, K-On's second season then focused heavily on themes of friendship and to take life slowly (the turtle on the stairs and Ton-chan). It hinted themes of it in the first season, then heavily foreshadowed it in the first half of the 2nd season, finally teaching and showing us its main themes in the ladder half.

Obviously KyoAni is known for doing this kind of stuff with their adaptations, but I thought Yuru Camp might pull off something like this. In the last episode where they were all grown up, I was about to start balling out, but it was all just Nadeshiko's crazy idea's. I thought back at that and now I think it has the potential to do something like K-On, but your guy's thoughts?

Honestly I’ve been thinking about something like that too since the day Yuru Camp announced a season 2 and a movie at the same time. I feel like it’s very possible they’ll head onto the K-On! route of giving us a feels trip with season 2, and ending the series on the movie (at least that’s me assuming that’s how it’ll go down). But we’ll see, the latest manga, volume 9 made it seem like that’s how season 2 will finish.

And on another note, I know this will never happen, but I really want a Yuru Camp x K-On! crossover to happen! It’d be the most moe thing to ever exist!

CGDCT is too broad of a term.
Yuru Camp is iyashikei and K-On isn't (or, at least, not fully). One's main goal is to make you chill and the other isn't.
while tearjerker is possible (as Non Non Biyori showed a couple of times), I highly doubt it will be something more than a couple of scenes halfway through instead of full ending being sad.

You just picked up a random (albeit very famous) CGDCT anime and declared that it has some similarities with Yuru Camp based on... them both being CGDCT and having 2 seasons + a movie. That's really strange.

It's like asking, will Yuru Camp show us panties like Gabriel Dropout did? bEcAuSe bOtH aRe CgDcT. Yes, they both are CGDCT but they're vastly different CGDCT.

I mean again would have to ask anyone who read the manga but doing some quick research the anime was mostly exact as the manga. It adapted 4 volumes this one will to. So there is another 3 more volumes to be adapted more than a film could handle on it's own and the manga is still going.

Ultimately this assumes they pull an anime ending instead of following the manga. The Film could just be some original content with the intent of doing more seasons after the fact or just adapting maybe 2 of the volumes.

I do agree with others CGDCT is pretty broad of a genre. Just because K-On! is vaguely in the same genre doesn't mean it's a good comparison necessarily.

It's all just speculation and my opinion. I mean if you're asking for stronger similarities other than they are both CGDCT and they both are having a movie and 2nd season . . . it would be both of the show's themes, like I vaguely mentioned in my mini explanation.

Like K-On, Yuru Camp's first season brushed upon theme's of friendship as well. Rin slowly being able to get out of her "solo camper" mentality, being able to see the joys of camping with friends is one example. Though K-On and Yuru Camp's theme's of friendship are not exactly the same, they both foreshadow it well.

If not for what @BilboBaggins365 said, I would have kept thinking that they might through us a two cour season, like K-On. Then pull our heartstrings with an ending like: all of them all starting to realize that their time together camping may not last very long because their high school life is about to end. And then realizing that they will always be friends even if they go separate ways . . . ring any bells?

With the manga not being finished like @BilboBaggins365 said, I don't expect any of my speculations to happen at all, unless they throw some really weird curveball like an anime original ending, but I highly doubt it because of again, what @BilboBaggins365 said about how they are very loyal to the manga.

I admit, my speculations may have not been very justified as I did only say similarities like they are both Moe Moe Kyun shows. If you want to get super specific with the whole iyashikei sub genre be my guest, but CGDCT will always be CGDCT and that's basically what both shows are . . . well not only that for one of them if you want to continue being super specific. I saw no reason to mock me when writing that for not mentioning all types of moe sub genres and genres, isn’t it easier for somebody to understand who probably doesn’t know that kind of stuff? Any average anime fan would be able to understand that moe is moe. Done.

Regardless of your intentions, I hope you understand why I thought this way, other than the fact that I thought they had very obvious similarities.

Have a great day man!

I hope not - because the anime just isn't of that sort - it wouldn't really fit the setting, the vibe and the story and character progression up until now. Neither is there a need for it - nor would it feel right - so if no one is doing something completely stupid, it will most likely stay wholesome until the end.

Not every good anime has to make people shed some tears.

> but CGDCT will always be CGDCT and that's basically what both shows are

No, you're just thinking too much in genre-limitations instead of breaking out of prejudice-ridden categorizations. There are times where categories and genres are a neat tool to structure things in an easy way - but you have to realize that those categories don't negate the individualistic nature of things. Maybe looking less at anime genre tags would do you good - in some cases it can open you up to whole new worlds of entertainment. ;)

@_cenjoo I'm sorry if I sounded rude, that wasn't my intention, even though my sarcasm was a bit too mean for no reason.

The reason I don't think sad ending will happen in Yuru Camp is this. In pure iyashikei, time doesn't matter. I mean progressive flow of time (from past to present to future) - this doesn't really matter. Shows like NNB or Yuru Camp or Hakumei to Mikochi aren't interested in what year it is, how old are the girls compared to the previous episodes, etc.

This timelessness is one of the key elements of this relaxing sense that constitutes the iyashikei.

But K-On or Azumanga Daioh always have this acute sense of time. They're literally built in chronological order so we as viewers know that this WILL end, because the girls will graduate and the whole school setting will be here no longer. And that's what makes K-On and Azumanga Daioh endings a bit sad (in a good way). K-On is literally about a school club and that school club is MEANT to stop existing at some point, and girls of that club are MEANT to go their separate ways sooner or later*. This sense of inevitability is what makes both K-On and Azumanga a bit sad and sadder as we get closer to the final episodes. It's kinda Tolkien thing with Frodo and elves leaving Middle Earth - same good kind of sad.

*i know older girls are together in university, that's not the point, they're still separated from Azusa.

Yuru Camp or Hakumei to Mikochi, however, don't really care about time. Yes, Yuru Camp girls are in school too, and yes, most of them are in the Camping Club, but they can pretty much keep camping together even when they go to college or get jobs. School and graduating doesn't matter here. And the feeling of "good sad" isn't the goal of Yuru Camp, unlike K-On or Azumanga.

Nah, this show is a bit too well written to be a tearjerker. Even though it is just calmly showing cute girls doing cute stuff.

The only complaint I might have is, WHERE IS THE YURI TAG?

Yuri tag-kun is on vacations with psychological horror tag-kun, they enjoy free time because they are not needed.

I really hope that's just you meme-ing around and not meant to be taken seriously.
Nothing against some (preferably believeable) yuri - but there is NO yuri in Yuru Camp - not in the slightest - don't ruin an otherwise near perfect (and realistic) anime with some weeb-shit.

I mean - it's one of very few anime that manage to portrait REAL human behavior - a little over the top at times, okay, but in general absolutely believeable characters and behavior. They're getting a moped licence to not being reliant on biking - using smartphones like real teens (including all the inside jokes and banter between friends) - having siblings that aren't just there to fill in for certain scenes but being full-fledged characters themselves. I mean... how many anime do you even know where an older sister or brother just stays the night over in their car so they can play taxi for their junger siblings? Other shows would just use regular plot devices in such cases - Yuru Camp doesn't - it shows something REAL people would do. It's like the scene in Monogatari when Araragi picks up Kanbaru and she makes fun of him for driving such a girlish car - just months after still bragging of how he just needs his bike - when she picks at him because of his long hair and how he adapted immediately to the fassion of the 'big city.'

Such immersive and believeable storytelling is such a rare things to find in animes and also western cinema - so... can we not have ONE show a year that does things different? If you want regular anime tropes - aren't the Quintuplets airing soon as well? If you want yuri, you could easily drop it into such animes without ruining much. ;)

I love my yuri but please don't bring yuri into this show. This show is about friendship and being comfy in nature.

Sometimes the interpretations of the art may different from person to person. You are asking if you can have one show? Ofc you can. But this is not your blog. People can have their "opinions" even if you agree with them or not

The whole anime is about Nadeshiko running after another girl. She is obviously in love with Rin therefore IMO this anime have strong Yuri vibes. And the girls never talk about boys or anything like that . So I think they are ALL lesbians

If you dont agree with my lesbian speculations I respect that. But I am going to stick with my interpretation . If you or anyone else have a problem with me or my posts you can use the ignore function =)

I don't really feel that way about Yuru Camp, I just think the movie will be a massive camping trip spanning a longer period of time than usual. There might be some feels, but I just don't get that vibe with Yuru Camp.

Wishing for it is one thing, saying it's obviously there when it obviously isn't is just weird.

Yikes.. do you enjoy the show for any of it's many real qualities as well, or just the ones made up in your head?

Hope you find much enjoyment from many future Yuri anime that actually contain Yuri

Yes and no. Yuru Camp has a more chilling and relaxing vibe, that's an important difference with K-On!. They have something in common, though. In both animes characters feel real, while in most SoL characters feel more like anime archetypes. I'm thinking Non Non Biyori, for example.

K-On ended up being a tearjerker precisely because the characters felt real.

So who knows? The potential is there, that's true. But the pace is slower in YC. If that happened, it'd be in a 3rd season. The 2nd one is too soon.
